Ok, so hopefully the right person(s) will read this one and be able to help a guy out...
I just came back from honeymoon with my wife, a cruise in the Caribbean. While out there, We kept an eye out on our phones, she has metro pcs and I have a Sprint GS4 running AOKP...
We got signal when we got to St. Thomas and were able to communicate with family and friends, but as we sailed away, we lost signal and I got a crazy idea...
I went to the network settings on my phone and switched the phone to "Global" mode and tried to see if I could get a signal... Got nothing, so I figured ill just switch back...
Got to Puerto Rico, where Sprint is Sprint, but my phone wouldn't connect automatically... I went to the settings and found a different menu altogether and tried to find the "get me the hell back to sprint" setting... No luck, but i did find the "network operator" menu, searched and found sprint. Selected it, but was greeted with a "no service: Selected network (sprint) is unavailable)...
Strangely enough, LTE would connect a full blast, but no 3g, 2g, 1x or cell service...
I've been trying to get it back, but it just doesn't work... Now, I'm back home and still, nothing. My phone is basically a big music player that only connects on wifi...
Anyone ever encounter this? Is my only hope to restore it to stock??? I hope not =/...
Anyone willing to help out a just married guy with a weird acting Sprint Galaxy s4???
Thanks in advance... (screenshots attached...)

I have never encountered this but try creating a back up of your current rom then go back to a TW rom and update your profile / prl (if that dont work try ##72786# on your dialpad). Once you have network connection flash your back up. Let me know how it goes

I aim this question at UK sgs owners, so if You are not one of them look away now ! !
I am on tmobile uk and just recently tried to connect to orange (i have terrible reception at workplace) but my phone returned message: your sim card does not allow for connection to network.
And yes i did register myself on signalfest when i received text from tmobile.
I even phoned customer service and they send me new sim card but i still have the same problem.
I google it and it turned out that there is more people out there with same issue. But i couldnt find any solution to this.
So did you have this problem and solved it? or still have? Any sugestions welcome..
Btw i am using darkys 3.0 rom..

I too cannot select Orange T-Mobile manually and get the same sim card error message.
But I did find that sometimes I've automatically connected to the Orange network and see the roaming signal bar icon, so the switch is happening but perhaps only if a T-Mobile signal is lost altogether.
Yeah i got that once or two as well but after conversation with tmobile customer service i know that it should be possible by choosing network manually. Btw what rom do u use? Stock or custom?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Have you got roaming turned on in your settings?
I admit i cannot select t-mobile manualy, however when i want to swap back from t-mobile to orange it lets me.
But most of the time it seems to switch between the two pretty seamlessly.
Sent From My GT-Iphone-killer almost.
I'm on Orange and I can't select T-mobile network but it does change automatically. I get the error if I try to manually select T-mobile.
My friend that uses a HTC Desire and on a T-mobile contract can change networks with out his phone giving an error. So maybe it's to do with the Samsung Galaxy S?

I too was on darkys 3.0 rom at the time.
I'm sure I saw a post somewhere that said T-Mobile was adding support to their Galaxy S Froyo release that would handle roaming for the two networks.
I've got an unlocked phone so I do not know if I'll ever have this support.
The network sharing is 2G only at the moment. You have to switch to GSM Only in order to manually select the other network.
I find I have to force the phone to lose what little Orange single it gets around the house so it'll roam onto T-Mobile, and when it's done that I can manually select Orange T-Mobile from the list and it'll stick on that network instead of hopping back onto the terrible Orange signal if it gets a whiff.
Of course this is still a pain because when I go out, to get the best signal and make use of 3G, I have to select automatic and have to do the whole hide-in-a-cupboard-under-the-stairs thing when I get home.
Fun times.
im on orange have no problems selecting t-mobile manually as stated before it works only in 2g. data transfer can be used - edge. 3g and switch without disconnect call should be available early next year. my txt messages can take forever to deliver if im using t-mobile and reply sometimes are not deliverd till the next day.

I brought a Samsung focus couple of days back and not sure how to turn ON 3G. Read some articles and it says Setting> Cellular> Data connections> 3G ON/OFF but i don't see 3G option there. Let me know if there is way to turn ON 3G.
If not i want to return the phone.
Thanks!
Settings -> Cellular -> Data Connection -> ON/OFF
That's the only setting, and it should be On by default.
Brad.
If you bought if from the AT&T store it should already be on.
If not and its not already updated to NODO youc an chevron unlock it and use the samsung tools to add teh 3g toggle.
Serioulsy though, it should be on and if it doesnt have the samsung tools how did it get turned off?!
Samsung focus 3G
As i told you before, Nope its not there by default. The only way to deal with it is to unlock then let me know how to unlock(what's the process).
Thanks!
3G is turned ON by default and there is no option to turn it off. What mobile operator do you use?
Samsung focus 3G
Well how come i cannot surf internet meaning i can't browse net.
I cannot go to Gmail, yahoo, NY time, ESPN or any website.
I have tried this at different locations(cities) .
It works @ places like Star bucks where Wifi is exists.
Are you on AT&T? Is Settings -> Cellular -> Data Connection ON?
Samsung focus 3G
Had to reboot couple of times to see 3G back. Not sure why it was missing.
Now 3G is back ON and i can surf net.
It's a windows phone.. so obvious that i had to reboot the phone
Thanks!
I have a Samsung Focus from AT&T. Currently flashed with ROGERS rom, but either on this and on AT&T's rom I never saw a 3G icon. Does it means it never connected to network with 3G, or it's always with 3G by default thus never showing 3G sign anymore?
My operator is available on 3G, 4G even so it's not the case of carrier problem for sure.
Edit: managed to get an "E" icon, it stands for Edge no? I followed that tut, to enable it, yet still no 3G, is it working at all at my country? I mean the phone is from the USA, maybe different bands here.
Settings, applications tab, radio
set to World instead of North America.
Also, I suggest installing Samsung Tools to make sure you enable 3G and prevent the relock.
Thanks Finaly know what the RADIO setting does Thought its for the FM RADIO :]
Unfortunately cannot install Samsung Tools on my DEV unlocked phone, dunno why, is there any other method to check my 3G?

From your other posts, I get that your phone got relocked. Do the Chevron unlock again, and first thing install Samsung Tools, run it, check all boxes and restart your phone. Then, you might do other stuff.

Ahhh, you unlocked via Chevron Labs, not Chevron.
You should be okay. As long as you can deploy XAPs, you're unlocked.
Well I found out that my hosts file has new entry, dunno how this happened, I never did it myself. Probably some app from XDA forums did it. I removed it and I get different message "phone ignoring us"......meh.
The Sprint Note 5 (sm-n920p) doesn't officially support band 17 but for some reason I can get it working-sort of.....If I have it in gsm/utms mode I will get 3g all day long. If I put it in automatic mode it just allows calls no data until I initiate a call and then lte will pop up and I can cruise the web at lte speeds. Only problem is it is very unstable and sometimes kicks me off data. Now if I go into APNs the phone shows some sprint APNs and won't allow me to add any att APNs to the list. When I go back to gsm/utms mode I can then see my att APN that was originally in there for 3g. Is there any way to get this to work with ATT LTE smoothly.?
any solutions yet ? same problem here
same here.
Would be nice if somebody has an answer. It seems some people from Vietnam have a method to unlock N920P Note 5. Any input will be welcomed!
Man, it's been a real tough one. Though mine working fine now. Supposedly you can go into the root directory"etc" and change the APN xml file. Just modify one of Sprint's that's already there in the lte list. Personally, I did that plus if you make the bearer in the APN, LTE and put it on CDMA/LTE mode that worked for me too, but like you said it wasn't Perfectly stable. Now though, I've got mine on GSM/UMTS mode and it actually show 4G every now and again, but it's super annoying not being able to send MMS on wifi... anyway I use "idoneapps.apk" to force LTE and that's pretty much it. It's kind of a dangerous app though because I pressed a button on the front page and it actually undid my software unlock and wiped everything.
Goodluck team N920PonATT
Mine works...... sams SM-N920P Sprint on Tmob
Mine works...... sams SM-920P Sprint on Tmob
It was harder than att..... just finished sprint to tmob using metropcs
The lte on itvis impressive speedtests at 42.4 dnl 16.4 upl
And i gotta down to a science no clatter.... LTE AND VOICE MMS COINCIDE and concurrent.
Just cant talk and surf. Real V6 LTE 4G IVP 6 though. The more i thought about using data phone the more i had to get right lol.

Factory reset. Then wipe the phone. Should now be back on stock os. Then get in touch with [email protected] or idoneapps. I used both. Unlocked stock 6.0.1 with an update ready to install.

Someone posted a similar problem a while back. Give it a quick search to see if he resolved it.
UPDATE:
So ive been going through these forums trying to find a solution to the problem with no luck.
However I believe I narrowed the problem down a bit. I went to MetroPCS which is T-mobile and bought a new sim to make sure mine wasnt bad and had the associate confirm the apn settings which they did and still no 3g, h+. Then I called up a couple friends who have Cricket and At&t and asked if I could put their sim in my phone. Tried both sim cards and they worked! Wooo all three connections good 4g,h,3g.
Weird thing is there are a couple other people on here with my problem but there are others on tmobiles network with no problem. Maybe its a firmware issue? Nevertheless I like this phone too much to risk trying to root and bricking it so im leaving tmobiles network.

Just tested this out since I'm also with T-Mobile, seems to be a problem with LTE CAT6 CA. Turn it off and you should be fine.
FINALLY!
OK so I unlocked the boot loader and rooted it even though I said I didn't want to lol . I was on c185b162 firmware and I flashed a couple of different firmwares that didn't work. But someone posted a full update c185b320 and it worked woooo!!!. I already had twrp installed and just did the wipe and installed c185b320 from twrp. I don't know if installing from twrp is different from the DL folder method but the phone is working so yeah.

CA stands for carrier aggregation
Oh, well that's good to know. However with this new firmware I can leave it enabled and still get 3g and h+. Hopefully disabling carrier aggregation will be an easy fix for someone else with the same problem.
Hello. Im looking for some information about how to possibly set up wifi calling on the new One + 6t. I've scanned every forum on the web pertaining to this issue and for the life of me can't get 100% verification on whether or not it's viable on a paid Verizon plan. This attempt to gather knowledge is on behalf of my friend who obviously is on the "Big Red" network. I also have the new 6T but I'm on good ole' Cricket. My friend has crappy Verizon coverage at his house so wifi calling is important. A signal booster is the next step but he doesn't want to go there yet for cost reasons. I advised him to contact Verizon tech 2 tier support and register his 6T as a CDMA only device which he did. The voLTE symbol now comes up on his phone but he still does not have the ability to switch on the wifi calling feature on his 6T. I also instructed him to input *#*#4636#*#" on his dialer and try to backdoor the process. Unfortunately this was a done in vain and to no avail. Does anyone on here have any suggestions? Verizon did not say they were going to block the wifi calling on the account. Am I missing something here? Some feedback would begreati appreciated. Thanks. Also I've been creeping around this site for years but finally decided to join tonight.
