Ok... so i have the note 3 and chromecast. They updated it so you can now mirror your whole screen to the tv but even though the note 3 is a supported device it wont work on my phone. It wont even show the "cast screen" option in the app. Netflix and other apps work fine still. My note 3 is updated to the lastest version and so is my chromecast app. Ive restarted the phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, restarted the chrome dongle in the tv, all more than 3 times each. It still wont work. Help please?

I have been trying to get my Note3 to work with my Sony KDL55W900A, and no luck. If I go to the "wifi direct" menu, it sees the TV but never connects. In the screen mirroring menu, it never finds the TV. I've tried everything I can think of, and no luck. Has anybody else not been able to discover their TV with their Note 3?
Roms: Stock OTA and Hyperdrive. (Both have issue.)
Hi,
My NP runs under the original ROM, (6.0.1).
It works well when I cast Youtube or a video thru the cast option.
The screen mirroring only cast audio, the screen remains black.
I use a nexus 5 under CM13 to send the cast. It was working well with my previous TV that was supporting mirroring (a smart sony).
I have tried to connect the NP to my Nexus 5 access point. The problem is the same.
I really don't know in witch way I need to search...
Any ideas ?
Thanks
I've found the solution here : http://forums.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-player/595252-nexus-player-casting-broken-6-0-a.html
Just need to uninstall updates of Google Cast Receiver and update it again !
Running Android 8.0.
Solution : Delete cache of "Chromecast built-in" app.
Has this option been removed? I'm coming from the Note 3 and screen mirror was simple and easy. Now it seems that this option has been removed altogether. Does anyone knows how to make it work with the dongle?
After about going through 30 Google search results I found that it's called "Smart View" under quick settings.
Did the Smart View actually work for you? I was using an Allshare Dongle with my AppRadio 3 when I had the S5. I would simply use Screen Mirroring when my truck started. Now, it keeps going to the AR calibration screen on my S7 and I can never get it to mirror on my AR. I've tried all sorts of combinations for starting it and nothing works.
I see my Samsung Smart TV UE40J5510 in wireless display (screen mirroring supported by default) in cast menu, but when im trying to connect, my N6P says connected, but tv only show black screen, or sometimes the phone's home screen, but freezed there, no responding. And after 30sec my phone automatically disconnect. I'm on 10.25 Pure Nexus with root, 3.14 Flash kernel. So i added this line to build.prop: persist.debug.wfd.enable=1 ,but still don't work. I updated my tv's firmware. This is tv's error or google disabled miracast in 7.0? (But i see the tv in cast without build.prop edit too...) Any ideas?
PS: With 3th party app (allconnect) i can perfectly streaming movies, music or photos to tv, only screen mirroring don't work.
Bug with 7.0, been hoping for a fix but haven't found on eyet.
Hi,
I do own a SHIELD Pro 2015. The device is connected via Ethernet directly to the router. Chromecast-enabled apps on devices in the same network recognize the SHIELD, however when I try to cast to it nothing happens and the streaming immediately stops.
Things I have tried:
- Factory reset.
- Installing recovery images 6.0, 6.1 and 6.2
- Connecting to WiFi on the same router
- Connecting to a different route.r
- Installing LineageOS and try casting to it
- Casting from Android and iOS devices
It is never working, the only exception being Youtube. Casting youtube immediately loads Youtube. Casting Google Photos, Napster, the phone screen ect. does not work at all.
I dedicated Chromecast on the same network is working fine, as are Google Home devices and a chromecast enabled soundbar.
Bump - because I'm in the exact identical situation. Except my shield no longer shows up as a cast device when it did last week after a full factory restore. I'm currently rooted with SuperSU on 6.2.
