(QA) Flashing T-Mobile rom on Verizon Note 3 Retail WIFI Calling - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody know or has had success flashing a t mobile rom, whether it be stock or customized rom, on a retail Verizon note 3?
I've read reports that flashing using Odin will brick...
But how about using safestrap.
The reason why I want to, is because I would like to completely switch over to tmobile from Verizon. But still keep my phone...
As well has anyone had experience with getting wifi texting/calling to work on a Vz Note 3 retail?
I wish for this thread to be a place where devs, users are able to share and maybe find a solution. Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated

I did flash a t mobile rom on my verizon note 3. I used safestrap. I was getting errors about wifi calling and it would give me a SIM card error every now and then. But over all it worked fine. Just add Verizon's data info in so your text messaging will work.

Cant get tmobile to work
Can someone please point me in the right direction........i am just trying to get my VZ note 3 to get tmo services to work, but no matter what i do, nothing works...
I have tried on the stock rom before rooting or anything following these steps listed in OP== NO DICE
I have rooted, installed safestrap 3.75 b4 and tried the steps again===NO DICE
I have installed a custom rom, specifically jasmine rom 2.0( which requires to flash the NC2 modem afterwards, which i did successfully) in hopes that that would help and====NOOOO DICEEEE
i can't access any service menu listed in this whole WEBSITE, none will work, not even an app from the play store that executes them....
I just keep getting that stupid INVALID SIM error and the bars indication stay blank and nothing happens.....WHAT THE #&@% AM I MISSING????
I HAVE NEVER RAN INTO SO MANY ISSUES BEFORE, im not a newbie in flashing stuff or anything like that, been using XDA since teh Windows Mobile days in HTC's prime, but this has be off the wall.
ANY HELP at all would be appreciated....since im the only asswhole that cant seem to have tmobile work on the VZ Note 3.......

I went in to the Mobile networks Setting and added the APN info for Verizon.

Has anyone ever tried flashing the T-Mobile modem to activate the WCDMA 1700 band? Is that's what's needed to activate this band or is there more to it? I know wih LG devices, by flashing the complete software of a different carrier changes the band settings as well

I'm assuming no one has any interest in doing this? WCDMA 1700 is needed for HD voice for T-Mobile....

LTE/Reception/I'm an idiot issues

Hey guys having a bit of problems. I tried the LTE enabler since we have it where I live now. I got the zip from a popular thread in the general section, I asked in there but figured this warranted it's own thread. I had no bars, so I switched back to the latest radio and now I'm permanently stuck with zero cell reception of any kind. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it, I flashed a new ROM, restored a backup, I even flashed the stock image from Google, and did each piece individually in a terminal, so I know I flashed the radio and I'm STILL not getting any service.
Today, I went into Telus to get a new sim card because I thought that was the problem, but that didn't help at all.
Please don't tell me I'm screwed. And yes I did try the disable zip multiple times.
I've attached screenshots of my APN and mobile network settings. Trying to join the network results in an error message.
Anyone? Would greatly appreciate some help as I'm stumped and this is my only phone.

My apologies if I was unclear in my original post, I've tried that. Multiple times.
i followed this thread, and LTE worked like a champ. Though i did not stay on a stock ROM, u personally used DirtyUnicorn rom, but still followed steps to edit the build.prop manuall, and flashed the radio .33. You must use the correct apn's. For US T-Mobile, there is a old epc.tmobile.com apn that does not get LTE reception even if you have a lte equipped device, i had to use the fast.t-mobile.com apn, im sure Telus has an updated apn as well.
http://hippowise.com/how-to-permanently-enable-lte-on-android-4-2-2-nexus-4/
BTW, i dont think it matter what android version your in, cause when i did this, i was on a stock 4.2.2 and it worked, and then i flashed over to the DU ROM, and made the same edits since i used a new rom, and it worked perfectly again. Make sure to press *#*#4636#*#* once all is set said and done and put the netowrk setting to LTE/GSM auto-prl. Not sure why the option for LTE/WCDMA/GSM is not available, maybe someone could help with that one???????
One thing most people forget is that your provider plays a big part in your LTE service. If your sim/account is not provisioned for LTE you will never get it.... period. IN my case I came from an android phone that had no LTE support so it was never provisioned on my account(att). And since the nexus wasent shipped with LTE support or part of att' s LTE phone lineup...they refuse to add LTE support for my nexus. The only way for me to get LTE provisioned on my sim is for me to buy an att LTE compatable phone....then I could just use the sim in my nexus. Try flashing a stock Google image, see if it helps.

AT&T Galaxy S4 boot loader help

Trying to switch my Galaxy s4 (at&t) to straight talk service. I love downgraded to mk2 and rooted /
Super User as well as Safe Strap. I'm on mk2 now and just got my wifi working. I don't know how to unlock the boot loader or what but it's in the stock slot. I messed up the default but I just want to be able to switch to straight talk.

Ended up switching to a t mobile sim card. I figured since it's a att phone to use the att sim card.. but I tried the t mobile and getting some service but very little. ST is telling me a tower near me is down to give it 24 hours but I feel that's a goose chase lol I've used a t mobile sim card in the exact spot I'm in and worked fine. It was in the note 2 from Verizon fully unlocked though.

apn:tfdata

mmsc:http://mms-tf.net

anything not listed above was left as either not set or whatever the default was when creating a new apn. I have no issues with data or mms using this apn on either phone. Hope that helps

Well they told me a tower was down for t mobile yesterday and they said 24 hours and it's still not hardly working. I can only use my gs4 on my couch with my hand near the window. About to call them and get I in their butt. It's not my phone is the apn settings or something on the ST end. Will update after this long as call
Unless I am mistaken the apn has zero to do with reception. Apn's are for your mms/data access. I have never come across a phone where the apn had any effect on the actual cellular signal.

Phone can't make or receive phone calls on T-Mobile SIM but text/data is fine.

I recently got a Verizon S5 from a friend of mine to use with my T-Mobile SIM card. It had stock 4.4.4 with build NI2 so I rooted using the NCG stock and towelroot before flashing back to NI2. Everything worked as expected and I was able to make calls and whatnot.
Now I decide I want CM 12.1 on my phone and begin the process of getting BusyBox and SafeStrap installed. Again all is going according to plan including the backup of stock ROM.
I wipe and flash CM 12.1 and get into a boot loop, so immediately I wipe again and restore to my previous backup.
Now I can send/receive texts, MMS, and my LTE works fine; but I can't make calls.
I've gone through all the steps to enable T-Mobile LTE through the CA Settings and manually enabling Band 4, and don't think this is related, but it might be.
I've reset multiple times, tried flashing CM 12.1 multiple times, and now I'm back on stock Touchwiz and am ready to shoot someone.
Specs:
SM-G900V
Version 4.4.4
Baseband is NI2
Kernel is 3.4.0
Build is NI2
Please help!

You might try flashing the NI2 kernel and if that doesn't work, the NI2 firmware.
So I just got a pop-up wanting to know if I would enable global mode. It had a dialer app icon but it appeared while I was in the messenger app. I said okay and now calls work. The only place I can find global network settings is in the network settings, so if anyone finds this with the same error, try re-enabling global network mode.

Verizon uses CDMA technology. T-Mobile uses GSM. All non-USA part of world is GSM, so maybe phone has both so that it can be used outside USA, but you have to enable Global to enable GSM. (Verizon, Sprint, and one other USA carrier are the only ones in the world to use CDMA.)
hey just a tip. it has nothing to do with your problem (well maybe it does) and sorry if you already knew but i was very happy when i found out. T-mobile roms work on these phones. I use Alliance 4.4.2 rom from the sgs5 t-mo section. Flashed with safe strap and it works great. I was having major issues when using the VZW roms. Like phone wanting to dial *86 for my voicemail then hanging up my phone call, or getting the 1x symbol constantly while in a call or just after calls ect. Now all i need to do is figure out how to put T-mo 5.0 roms on this thing....mehhh... i'm sure there's a step by step somewhere I just cant find it. Hope this helps if not I'll edit and put a thanks or thumbs up or something.
Can we install a t-mobile rom (900T) and flash the radio specific to 900V back so that t-mobile wifi-calling works? Can someone answer if they have done this?
Also will the band 12 on this work with t-mobile's new 700MhZ?
Thanks.

It works fine i used the alliance rom but you dont need to flash the modem file, even the wifi calling is working but since t mo recognizes it HSPA+ as 4g but when you connect to an actual 4g it will say 4g lte but you cant connect to t mo 700 mhz as it doesnt support that frequenc

I am using am gs5 verizon on a gsm network with lte band 3 and i never had problems with calling, i suggest you look for an app called Advanced Signal Status though you will need root so that you can change between network types

Dr.Ketan Port for Note 4 (Marshmallow)

So Dr.Ketan's S7 Edge port works on note 4 according to some youtubers and some commenters using the fixes present. It can be seen here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lrPz-PXGFQ
But one problem that isn't stated in the video, but everyone in the comments has a problem with is SMS. Is there any way to fix SMS? How do people using other Dr.Ketan roms on Sprint phones get the SMS to work?
I've already created a thread for such a ROM before stating all the required instructions.
Needless to say, SMS fix is also available by @ricohz.
Here's the link to my thread:

Yours works for marshmallow too?
The ROMs that require you to flash from Lollipop to Marshmallow don't really work for me and are not what I want. I just want a ROM that goes from marshmallow to marshmallow like in the video in the first post, the only problem with that ROM is the SMS not working which is what I'm here for. Ironically, you say my post is confusing but it seems like yours is also. You state in the first couple lines that it's for people "who are using Sprint's Note 4 (N910P) outside of US and are stuck with Sprint's ROM" which I'm not apart of, but you told me to still use it. That does not make sense... Also "For instance, I'm using the unlocked variant of N910P with a GSM carrier, so I was having problem in connecting to the Hot-Spot feature as all of my devices were stuck at "Obtaining IP Address" loop and eventually would never connect." is a WHOLE different problem that I'm having so please clarify this before you tell me that my post is irrelevant just because you made one first.
Edit: Also that data fix does not work for SMS, even people in the thread are saying that, is there another one that I'm not seeing?

I tried the Sprint M3 and M4 got bootloop. No success with the Dr Ketan M3 or M4 data fix either. I also tried nameless fix and the T-mo fix. None of them boot, if it boot, it gave sim error. The only one that work is the Verizon V2. It worked with M3, M4 and M5. I don't have an answer for you as to why on that one work for me but it does.

I just reflashed it, and now it is working but it just takes quite a while to send and receives messages. I can live with it tho, but how do I get root on it? Root checker and titanium backup says it's unrooted

Flash super su you should of also flashed Dr Ketan M5 fix which address this issue
But you can just flash super su
And you aren't just limited to Dr Ketan rom
Mms should start sending out faster rom just needs to settle in
By the way download booster works and Android pay as well

Actually it's pretty easy you just need to know what to flash once you get it right it's a piece of cake
I posted a fix for MO on the other tread if you want to give it a try hit me up and I'll show you the way

AT&T & T-mobile now have the same bootloader version

*I originally posted this in the AT&T S7 forums unintentionally so posting here as well*
For those of you curious about running the T-mobile firmware on the AT&T version of the edge, it is now possible since they are now using the same bootloader version.
I have an AT&T S7 edge (SM-935A) and recently switched to T-mobile as my carrier. I had to unlock it first so I used the service from unlockunit. It took almost a day for the code but I was then able to pop my T-mobile SIM and sure enough, it worked. Surprisingly, WIFI calling even worked!
At this point, I really wanted to switch to the 935U firmware as I heard it has great battery life as all the carrier bloat is removed. Unfortunately, just before I switched, the recent September update from AT&T raised the bootloader to v4. I learned after the fact you have to disable the update service as it eventually will force you to update. Now I was stuck with the damn AT&T firmware!
I wanted to flash the 935U firmware but the bootloader was still at v2 and T-mobile, so I thought, was at v3. It might be helpful to have a sticky on this forum with the current bootloader versions as it took some time for me to research the following:
AT&T - v4
T-mobile - v4
Verison - v4
Sprint - v2?
Universal - v2
Yes, you read that right, T-mobile just released a new firmware (PIA) which raised their bootloader to v4! You can grab it here: http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G935T/
It's the one with the date of 2016-09-27. I used the prince odin version referenced in this thread for flashing as others failed and gave sha1 errors. http://forum.xda-developers.com/veri...g930v-t3411015
If you plan to do this please research how to flash with odin and remember to back everything up! Samsung Smart Switch is a great resource for this.
I've been running on the new T-mobile firmware for just a day but already like it better than AT&T's. I didn't even know AT&T disabled some features of the S7 edge that other carriers kept. Typical for the Deathstar. Can you sense my disdain for AT&T?
For example, with the T-mobile firmware, you can control Download booster (the ability to leverage wifi and LTE simultaneously!) This option was removed from the AT&T firmware. In addition, you can set a preference to WiFi calling. With the AT&T firmware, you have no control and it will only flip to WiFI when in a weak area. It just so happens where I live the AT&T signal is weak so I was always jumping back and forth between the two and it was frustrating not being able to control it. The only way to force WiFi calling is turn on airplane mode when in a fringe area and turn WiFI back on. I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.
I'm including some screenshots which show the current firmware running on my SM-935A.
Hopefully we'll see an update to the 935U bootloader to v4 which will allow a switch to that firmware.
Thanks for the info.

no sorry im not clear on what im asking lol. im on (U)firmware but i cant send mms and my ims is not registered. if i go back to (A)firmware everything works fine. so the question is first do you have an origianl att phone? and second if so when you flashed the u firm ware did your mms work or did you alter something to get mms working.
My question is if i remain on att and run the tmobile firmware will the wifi calling work?
---------- Post added at 07:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:50 AM ----------
Also, is the root method the same and does it still work with new v4 bootloader?

oh ok you arent rooted thats the big missing link lol , im rooted on att variant but have u firmware. sorry thought you were rooted and on u firmware.
So, it sounds like you're saying we can use ATT WIFI Calling after flashing the G930T firmware? Is there anything you lose from G930T? HD Calling for example? Anything else?
Edit: I said 930 because I followed a link here from the 930 forums - I assume it would be the same for the 935, but I'd like to know how it worked on the 935 too.
What are the benefits with the TMOBILE firmware?

It has been written elsewhere that AT&T requires 1) proprietary code [read: ATT ROM] and 2) AT&T-branded phones (IMEI they recognize, also includes some non-ATT such as iPhone/HTC) for advanced calling features to work.
I would bet that VoLTE, WiFi calling, video calling, advanced messaging, etc. do not work with the T-Mo ROM.
On the other hand T-Mo uses more standard VoLTE protocols, etc., so phones like Nexus 6P, 5X, etc. work with VoLTE and WiFi calling just fine on T-Mo.
A bit of history: Even people who got ATT-branded Nexus 6 do not get VoLTE because Google later standardized the N6 ROM therefore without ATT's evil code (and bloat).
ATT has quickly surpassed VZ as the new Evil Empire.

Where did you find the solution, I've tried a couple different versions of odin and no luck. Also, should I be using the "CSC" or "HOME_CSC" in the CSC box?
EDIT: Also figured it out. search for "Verizon S7 / S7 Edge [Root Guide] SM-G930V SM-G935V [NO KNOX TRIP]" in xda to find the correct ODIN version for this.
and the correct file to use in the CSC field is "CSC" even though ODIN says to use the "HOME_CSC"
Do I need to enable OEM unlock?
