I First installed xrecovery on my XPERIA X8 and then installed a Custom ROM
But after seeing the cyanogen 7.1 ROM for XPERIA X8 I installed it by changing the bootloader and installing cwm.
Now i want to go back to the previous ROM.(i have xrecovery backup files)
But Now i am not able to install xrecovery on it.because it does not have the original bootloader.
but if i install the original bootloader then my phone will be bricked because it has custom firmware.
WHAT SHOULD I DO??
HOW DO I INSTALL XRECOVERY AGAIN.
OR HOW DO I CONVERT XRECOVERY BACKUP FILES TO CWM BACKUP FILES??
In cwm you have an option to recovery from xrecovery files, use it
Sent from my Shakira using XDA App
Thanx for the reply dsaklein
bt how do I use the feature?
i have xrecovery files that are:
cache.img
data.img
system.img
nandroid.md5
BUT I tried putting it in
backup/android/
folder.
where cwm saves the backups
but it had an error
md5 file not recognised or somthing like that
PLZ HELP!!!
Hi, im trying to port Oxygen from U8800 to U8800-51, but before i flash the zip (with CWM for U8800pro) i have a question about the cust_backup
I have a backup of cust_backup/image/* , what that means, if my port doesnt work, can i copy all the files back to cust_backup/image/ and everything is gonna be like before the flash?
i've created a nandroid backup too with CWM (but i think it might not be usable due to the recovery (designed for U8800pro).
Hope someone can help me to clarify this question.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english (im from Chile, and my born language is Spanish).
Best regards!
Unless the pro model have some difference from the normal, yes you can(if you can boot to bootloader pink mode)
But if you prepare to flash a custom rom, this means that you' ll replace system, and maybe boot.img. So probably you will not need to use the cust_backup image. If rom doesn' t boot you can go to recovery end restore the nanroid backup.
A backup of that folder is a good thing though.
I have lost both custom and stable recovery in my green lens Defy. When I select either Custom Recovery or Stable Recovery in the bootmenu, the screen goes blank and nothing happens. I need to take out the battery to boot the phone. Currently I'm running the latest CM9.1 16-11-2012 build by Epsylon3. I don't have any issues in booting into OS. It's just that I have lost the recovery in bootmenu.
Can anyone help me to bring back the recovery without doing an SBF flash? Is it possible to install the recovery alone using adb commands or something? Please provide detailed steps, if it is possible.
Edit: I copied the original "recovery" folder present in the path /system/bootmenu in the CM9.1 ROM zip to the same path in my mobile using ES File Explorer and set the permission as rwx r-x r-x Now I got the recovery back Sorry for creating a new thread. Moderators can delete this thread.

There is stock rom for ZTE Blade Q Maxi with which can move apps from phone to SD card.
But it's a full of Viruses, adware, malware and hijacking trojans.
If someone know how to remove viruses and others stufs. Or find what was change in android to be able move to SD Card, and put that change in regular clear stock rom?
I'm also followed these instructions step by step and got bootloop and cant access recovery... is there any solutions now ??

Hi Friends this is my first post regarding rooting...
i just tried out a old method said by the senior member shuckeru
i basically followed all the same producer from the below thread only the ROM was MIUI 9 Beta
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/how-to/guide-installing-miui-v8-2-1-twrp-root-t3573550
you will need all the same files as mentioned in the thread, the only change which i have did is i have updated the TWRP recovery.img
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-Fpr-jO4CnobnBCNjdlRjhrUjA
Extract the rar and flash with MI flasher
Press Vol + and power and boot to TWRP Recovery
mount /system
delete /system/recovery-from-boot.p (or similar) ( if you are not able to view, reboot to recovery again and repeat the same step)
after deleting mount MTP and copy by downloading the 2 files below
"universal boot.img patcher.zip" from this thread.
latest SuperSU recovery flashable zip.
Flash both the file
Clear the cache
you may reboot now.
I did all the above procedure and i did not loose any of my files, so try it and post your comments
I have a locked boot loader helium install custom ROM no issue so far but when I try to install xiaomi EU miui 9(latest ROM) using Nigel twrp by formatting data, mi logo appear and soft brick, the universal boot patcher can't patch the ROM some error came out.Is it because I did not mount system?I also did the same procedure on my hydrogen but have no issue installing miui 9 with lock boot loader only on helium this occur.Forgot to add I deleted the emcc file from the EU ROM too did u do that?
i did not formated the data, i just installed TWRP, added su and boot patch....
Try to flash the Beta rom and then install TWRP
