Voltage Table - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, can someone tell me where to find the file that shows the voltage table of the CPU ?
Thanks

Haven't played with this for a while - on a standard kernel, frequency/voltage pairs would probably be defined in cpufreq.c.
You would need to decompile /patch the kernel to find those.
Kernels that support voltage control likely do an external table lookup
CPU control apps settings can be set on boot via an init.d script writing to the external voltage table
Try looking looking for something like /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/UV_mV_table
.

Thanks for your answer, how can I decompile the kernel ? I can't use a custom kernel cause I have the G906 version.
Tried that location.

Well that wasn't the subject of your thread. And you're really in the wrong forum. The sm-g906 according to Samsung at least isn't a S5. More pragmatically, look for the Chinese /Korean Prime phone thread and see if anyone does any kernel development.
I don't own a Korean market only phone and don't have any information whether it has a locked bootloader, et cetera that would allow or preclude custom kernels.
Good luck
.

The internals files of the phone are the same and there is no a specific forum for this device since it is a Galaxy S5 with some differences. I found the pvs bin in the same location where it is in the Xperia Z2 so since it is a Qualcomm device It will have the same internal files for the same things ( talking about kernel, etc ).

It's a derivative device and this is the closest forum. Which is why I suggested looking for the thread that consolidates information about your model. My comment was specifically to the fact that you didn't disclose any of this critical information in your original post, which lead us off on a tangent.
Good luck with your phone.
.

I say again that the model is not relevant that is the reason why I didn't say anything in the OP. Just imagine it is the original S5 if you don't know where is the file then that is all. I will wait for someone who knows where it is. Thanks for your replies.

Not so. The model is central as the voltage table can be found in differing locations for various models. Your follow up question was model dependent as well.

I know, but wanted to make it easier for people answering because it is very possible to be the same file in both models. [emoji51]

[Q] Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102 Need Noob Guide(basic misunderstandings)

Hi, I have a Galaxy Y Duos S6102. I have a bit of idea bout the ROM, Recovery, Kernel and Firmware so I have a few questions related to my phone which I wanna customize as much as I can.
I have been searching around and I wanna know, can we install the same ROM's/Kernels/Firmwares for both the devices? Namely Galaxy Y Duos S6102 & Samsung Galaxy Y GT-S5360??For eg, Hyperion+CWM/Twrp and so on...
Since we know bout the developing and ongoing stages/phases of development of different products and (Unfortunately but true, and no offense, please!) how they claim it to be stable but usually or sometimes aren't, I would be really glad to have some guidance as in what ROM/kernel/Firmware/Recovery I should be aware of and all that. I have searched all, but I am just not able to decide which ones are good, for example Hyperion seems awesome but I am not sure if it is stable or not. Also, sometimes there are combinations such as firmware+rom, and so on... i wanna know which ones has these combos and can we add in customized if we wish? For eg if the rom comes along a firmware, can we flash our own firmware as per choice? What bout stability?
At the end, I will have my pre-requisites written down here:
1. Listen to a lot of music and sometimes YouTube. Sometimes a few games, fb and such.
2. Wanna use some cool apps that requires root.
3. Need battery, a bit of performance increase too if that's ok but battery defo.
4. Customization in looks, like in AOSP and so on, not necessarily AOSP lock screen but custom looks in general(like in ViperOne, not that I wanna/intend to compare)
According to these, can I please have someone suggest me individual working combinations of ROM/Kernel/Firmware and Recovery? I know this is not ethical to ask such questions(comparison related or "What's best", respects to all developers) but I am just trying to see compatibility not asking which ones are the best. I will be greatly obliged to anyone who helps, I would much appreciate if someone who owns a similar phone and has the same mods on it will suggest so I can take some reviews bout their experience too.
best rom/kernal threads are not allowed on xda
if you want to try the roms feel free but if this turns into a I reccommend xyz rom or what roms have less bugs I shall report it for closure
for your other question
yes you can install 5360 roms on duos however they will not fully work
for example you wont get dual sim support and the usb smali in the status bar is different so it wont connect to pc
you would need to correctly port them and mod some files
all roms features and bugs are on the op of each thread
stock based roms are "stable" as you put it
cm based roms will have bugs due to lack of drivers - all will be explained on the base rom used thread

use the updater script and binary from a custom stock rom for your device - normally works - you can edit the text if required
Weird, my intent was not to compare roms or anything but just to make sure the roms are "compatible" with my duos n wont strip down functionality(like dual sim, both sim r being used). I find this strange that u find it ok for everyone to try multiple combinations as u would, ignoring the fact that some people might have different priorties n maybe dont wanna play around like that. I am not asking whats best, i am askin whats not best for my phone. Can u comprehend? secondly i do understand the stock versions r more stable thats why my question remains... Being which ones r "compatibly" close-to-stock with my phone. I dont wanna brick my phone or strip down functionality, my device is different n obviously there r some things which wont b compatible for my device.. i just need a good combination of rom recovery kernel n firmware possibilites or options i can choose from with the above pre requisites. I dont see no comparision. Its like a person is simply asking what shoes will fit him the best if he has a particular size of feet. Lol

please read the rules of xda before posting
best rom threads are not allowed
this includes asking for whats the best rom to do xyz
it also includes the oposide of above ie what rom cannot do this or not best for this
all the roms features are on the op
if its a duos rom it will support dual sim unless otherwise stated in the bugs list
I shall now report this thread for closing as it seems you are trying to get which rom is best for your needs
To answer your question about shoes
well obviously if he is size 10 he will require size 10 shoes - what size 10 shoe he chooses is down to personal preference which is why what is best for him is not best for someone else who is also a size 10 - get it? thats why best threads are not allowed
Mod Edit
"Best" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.

Ultimate_Kernel from 4PDA - Note 4 Exynos var.

Sry for my bad english first
Hi, i think a lot of people will be very happy if they can test and try this custom kernel for Exynos var. of Note 4, and because its really difficult to download it from 4da: i made this humble request.
Registration on 4pda is really difficult, because the registration code (verify that you are not a robot) is written in the Russian language and is impossible to copy it right for not Russian-speaking correctly.
Is there anyone who would establish little thread with information about this kernel and with a link to the download at more accessible site? For example, MEGA. Thanks a lot.
If is my question stupid, delete this, thanks.

This is latest verion of Ultimate kernel. Enjoy it!
Thank you so much, but it would be better if someone made a real thread about this kernel, rather then continue to beg for someone reupload, if a new version will appear
This kernel works for C and U ?? What are the goodies of this kernel ??
Here, try your luck with the google translation: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=615976&st=100#entry35517822
9th post on the page:

Changes in v.4
-portirovan cpu_touch_boost and added the appropriate settings in the synapse
-Changed flags optimize the kernel for better responsiveness interface
-added to the core KSM (Kernel SamePage Merging)
-fully off Samsung Rooting Restriction Feature
-Some internal paramatry reconfigured according to the results of testing
-Disconnect debuggers to reduce unnecessary use of CPU time
-chut relaxed setting throttling GPU compared to the previous version of the kernel (too aggressive were)
These are changes only from v4 to v5, full changelog is a lot longer.

Yes, this kernel is reported to be working only on 910C and 910H models.

I wouldn't hope for that. Creator has only 910C, and fortunately, it is completely compatible with 910H. But any other version no chance, unless anybody would buy him new model.

REQ rooted kernel 5.1.1 for Sm-t235 (source was published a month or two back)

sometime back this was posted
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63556533&postcount=135
unfortunately moonbutt closed his thread just when I and another member posted boot image etc on the board..understand he may have moved on to better things
not knowledgeable here but appreciate if someone can take this up or redirect this to some dev who can make a rooted kernel since the source has been published
thanks
SM-T237P
Would love to root my 5.1.1 tab , so I too would be begging for another developer to step in to fill this need. I need a kernel with UVC video support.
OKAY so now I know my posts were getting deleted when I asked for T235 kernel root

yesterday or may have been on Sat night, on the T533 thread I tried to catch moonbutt's attention by pointing to the T235 source (when apparently he was saying the T533 had no source but was addressing that kernel) and now that post has gone like on his closed thread (just when it seemed he was taking an interest thanking me for providing boot.img and other files)
anyway...need some dev who can volunteer to work on this and at least someone who would respond yes or no (deleting posts maybe to avoid a side conversation)
I pulled the source started to look it up and looked up on how to modify kernel..looked doable to a point but this is from a total novice (all i know is to mod some apk, compile/re-compile but no building stuff)

mac,
i had your post removed because it was interfering in H's thread. I tried with this device a little while ago but testers seem to think they are at liberty to not follow instruction, or just change their minds mid-stream like they haven't just wasted my time and resources. . The upside would be if you have the source and the setup to compile it and thereby test your own work then, i can absolutely run you through what you need to do, The tricky part is knowing which tools you need for the packing/unpacking of the ramdisk.
If this is a qcom/msm device you will need AIK which is the best solution.
If this is a marvell variant you will need ketut's degas bootimg toolkit which is the best solution.
You need [likely] to apply the patch mentioned in my thread to security/selinux/selinuxfs.c
Be aware that samsung's source releases are usually incredibly sloppy and the defconfigs for devices are usually somewhat off, missing config settings.
Check for sdcardfs xattrs, virtual xattrs, etc . you need to make sure those are selected in order for your internal and external storage to mount.
Find the correct defconfig for your device and post it as a zipped attachment. or check my thread and look at my sources on git, specifically the commit history [msm devices mostly] to get an idea of what you need. You can get a linux os running in a virtual machine and compile just fine as long as you have all the pre-requisites installed. The getting started link in my signature is a rough/general guide to help get you up and running.
m
ps, my thread is just locked, not closed, i was getting too many OT/non-dev postings. I open it when/if i have something new and then close it again.
thanks moonbutt74...totally understand...appreciate the links in your signature and other resources...will start looking into it (long long journey but gotta try)

i wanted a list of aosp/aokp opensource not the sammyroms... i want a list of the best supported 2017s roms because is found nothing in the forums lile a list of such roms
So let me get this straight. You expect someone to comb through all the development forums and list for you all the ROMs that are based off AOSP? If that is the case your request is unreasonable, especially when the various development forums in this section have search engines which you can use in order to answer your own question.
I doubt anyone has that kind of time to spare. If you do however, perhaps you could present that list.

Is there any way that i can modify a ROM for literally the same phone but ''diferrent'' (like a phone with M or DS)

It's just a thing that upsets me, i have a Samsung core prime SM-360M, there is variations of it, (Like SM-360H/DS, F, Etc)
i Really like that phone, but the android 5.0 its kinda meh, at least (what i know and can se) NO ONE have ever make a Custom rom for my phone.. just for the other variations (i think that mine is more ''rare'' or just forgotten) and i Can't use because of the F... DS or other variations but the Sock (cpu, gpu, ram) Its the literraly Same! just a little things like SIM that are diferent and i dont even use, and because of the M in my model i just cant use a more recent Rom.. i just trying to see by myself if i can at least try
Somebody that understands ROMS can say to me if is possible to install a ROM modify it to be compatible with mine? like a SM-360F to work with My SM-360M ?
if you Know.. can tell where do i start to try to do?
(if i spelled something wrong, sorry, im from brazil and i still learning english, and thank you for seeing this at least, im kind sad, i had a A5 (that i dont even pay still that broke literaly same cpu that my samsung core and wanted make my little one a new kind of ''a5'' )

ask in every thread that doesnt specify his compatible roms. it might or not work with your phone. samsung is picky about this, dont flash stuff until you find an experienced opinion.
