My galaxy s4 4.4.2 on NB1. Installed the right safestrap but everytime I click Install, the state always stays as Not Installed. I heard from somewhere to download busybox so I did but it still didn't work.

Typically themes are flashed over an existing ROM. That means, no wipe is required

My Nexus 4 was rooted in KRT16O but then I got notified for an KRT16S update (OTA).
I updated it, reboot and then found out that my device isn't rooted anymore.
I re-root follow these steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018179
But after I reboot into the system. I don't see the SU icon in my app drawers.
I check in my system>apps and it wasn't there too.
I've tried redo it couple of time but still not be able to root.
Please help!

So you install the SuperSu zip, the recovery does say that it was installed properly, but it still doesn't show up in the app drawer?

Yes. And my device isn't rooted.
If I try to use any root right (for example changing file permission, that app will stop and get force close).

I'm relatively new to rooting and recovery.
I was on rooted 4.2.2, I took the ora and locked my bootloader like an idiot. But did manage to do the safestrap workaround and got myself up to a rooted rom of NC2. I'm finally back to a functional setup with accounts and apps where I want them. So I thought I'd do a back up in Twrp.
I deleted my old backup and the other twrp file in the directory. I tried but it failed. Gave the error...unable to mount /system.
Any tthoughts on how I could get a full backup of my system? Thanks in advance.

Yes. Safest way is to uninstall recovery in your current version, install the 3.72 apk, and then install. Installing the APK alone doesn't update Safestrap, you always have to hit install.

Looking for the same answer and couldnt find it so I played with terminal in safestrap AT&T i337 4.4.2 and found that you can work around in order to mount system. Go to advanced terminal select root then type mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p16 system rw and it works dont know yet if it allows me to fix installing to system but I did click filemanager to see if /system was mounted and it is!
EDIT: Not a fix still wont install to /system but it lets me edit files in the file manager
Dont ask me how I fixed but I did... just continue messing with it till it works
Hi Folks. I followed the instructions on the ATT All Things thread to get to NC1 update, then rooted using towlroot and all that works great. I can't get SafeStrap to work using the instructions though. I can install it, click install to install recovery and it says Installation Complete but State shows Not Installed and Safe System shows not active as well. Not sure what to do from here. I see nothing on the main thread about this. When I open Rom Manager it says I have ClockworkMod and TWRP installed as well from what i can tell. Not sure what is going on here. Help appreciated. Thanks.

You mentioned that ALL Thing ATT and NC1 so you have SGH-I337 with NC1 firmware.
For NC1 firmware you can not use the CWM and TWRP anymore. The only recovery you can use is Safestrap.
Did you check your root access before you install the Safestrap.
Try to restart your phone with regular reboot (not to recovery) and see whether the safestrap pop up in the boot process.

Nothing out of the ordinary pops up during boot. Just standard Samsung & ATT splashscreens.
Also I just reset the phone, confirmed root, reinstalled safestrap and still the same. It does nothing to the phone even though it says Installation Complete.

It was because original instruction page was written before the towlroot method.
You do not need to use that selinux change app every time you reboot unless your SE for Android status is changed.
Hey guys, somehow I managed to do something unexpected to my N3 and It stops at the Samsung Note 3 screen right after startup. I can access stock recovery but it wont hit safestrap. Anyhow, I was going to odin flash a stock .tar file and start over. However, I'm a bit confused on what file to flash and how to proceed from there. Can I flash a KK .tar file or do I have to flash a JB based .tar file and then root and upgrade. Either way, what is the prefered .tar file(s)? I've looked around a bit and I'm thuroughly confused! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, I came from MJE and then up to NC2/NC4 KK. I was running BajaROM at the time and was trying to do a wipe for a clean install of the latest version. Again, I have no idea what I did to screw this up.

Do not flash the NC4 tar, you will be stuck on it with no way to downgrade. Flash the MJE full tar file in Odin, root it with TowelRoot, Install SU, and BusyBox (make sure to open the app and do the actual install) then install SS 3.65. After you're done install the ROM of your choice through SafeStrap 3.65, once it's done installing reboot to download mode and flash the file in the link below through Odin. Once you boot up to the ROM install the newest version of SS.

Safe Strap should say "not active" unless you're booted into a ROM slot other than stock. Did you try rebooting and hitting "recovery" when the SS screen comes up? You can not hit "boot to recovery" in SS.
No option to hit safe strap.?

No, you need to download busybox from the Play Store, open it and then install busybox through the app. That's why SS isn't working. After you root you need SU, busybox, and SS.

I had rooted my phone using the downgrade method a while back (MK2 -> NB1?) For whatever reason, I decided I wanted to flash a clean ROM. I went ahead and flashed I337UCUFNB1_Rootable_Full_Odin and rooted with Towelroot (I never wiped cache or data with Safestrap before...completely forgot about it). I am now on rooted NB1 with superuser installed, however Safestrap refuses to install. After I install the recovery, even though it states the installation was complete, the status of Safestrap is still "Not Installed".
Did I make a booboo by not wiping/uninstall safestrap beforehand? Is the old version and the new conflicting? halp

If you are on MDL build, you don't need it. You can read up on it in Development, HashCode has a thread there--
