Hey folks. I have a question. I want to back down to Android 4.4.2 on my Note III - N900V. The performance both in battery life and signal performance absolutely SUCKS.
I'm currently on Stock (rooted) 4.4.2.
I've downloaded Stock Rooted JellyBean 4.3 N900VVRUBMJ7 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2518704
However I want to back down on the radio firmware as well. I'm pretty sure for compatibility purposes I need to. I'm having a heck of a time finding it out there. Does anyone know where I can find a pre 4.4.2 radio driver/firmware version?

im using currently my S4 9505 running on JB 4.2.2. Do we have any stock JB 4.1.2 or Cyanogen 4.1.2 that works on S4? Im planning to go downgrade instead than going to JB 4.3. Because My software Navitel 5 dont work on JB 4.2.2. that why im thinking a downgrade.
any advise from anyone>
thank you.
the galaxy s4 ships with 4.2.2.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S4#Software
there's never been a ROM with a lower version number than 4.2.2 from what I know. I don't think you'll be able to do what you want to do on the S4.
there's no ROM for you to flash, because around here everyone likes living on the bleeding edge, people spend months working out how to upgrade software, never to downgrade. sorry.
ohh i see.. Thanks for the reply and for some info
Which Android version is better for our i9506 : Jelly Bean 4.3 or KitKat 4.4.2
RubenMMS2
Kitkat
KitKat is better, even 4.2.2 was better than 4.3 slowmo..
The SD card restrictions in KitKat create too many limitations for my liking. Even with root and SDFix, some apps still can't access the external SD card. On top of this, there doesn't appear to be any significant improvement in performance or battery life.
Maybe when someone does a good sammy custom rom based on 4.4.2NNE (would I love an Omega rom right now!) it will be a worthwhile update. In the meantime, if you have 4.3, stick to it. As I discovered to my annoyance, there's no going backwards.
Any team will cook for i9506??It's a shame
In my opinion they are almost the same Sh*******t with few changes.
I'm just using the i9506 since 4.4.2.
I'm rooted, debloated and adfree.
For me the system is fast, stable and handy.
I like it and don't miss something.
PS: SDFIX: If you fixed the ext sd write permission than any app should work...
Are you sure you've done it correctly and being rooted?

I am quite pleased with 4.4.2, my only problem is that at the moment you cannot root without activating KNOX.
For this reason I wanted to downgrade to 4.3 where you can root w/o voiding the warranty.
Anyhow, your post surprised me, because you say that even 4.2.2 was better than 4.3
Do you mind to tell me (us) why you think so?
What is wrong with 4.3?
Should I really stay far from this 4.3?
Many thanks in advance.

I moved since a couple of months to v4.2.2.
So far so good.

Hello everyone.
I've just installed Sweet ROM V4 MJ7 and I wanna update to Stock 4.4
So its rooted and CWM is installed.
Here's my question...
Should I just put 4.4 stock to Odin and install or should I do sth else?
I know, this question could be so frustrating for someone but it's my first NOTE and i dont wanna mess it.
Also, is it worth to update from 4.3 to 4.4.2 (N9005XXUGNG1)
Im afraid of this knox 2.0
Thanks for help.
Yes..it is the way it should be using odin to install stock firmware. This is gonna be fine bcoz u are going to 4.4.2 unless you are downgrading which is too dangerous.
Just tell me my friend now if it is worth to upgrade to 4.4.2?
For my personal prefence, I like to be up to date all the time. So I would stay with latest update. But some people prefer to stay with 4.3 bcoz of better battery life or other wifi issues. But all bugs have been fixed in these days. So I guess the main reason to stay with 4.3 is just bcoz of battery life. I cant tell exactly how much difference of battery since I just upgraded to 4.4.2 as soon as I got this. So I cant notice 4.3 that much in less than a day. ?? go for it. What is bothering you! You are holding Note 3 and life isnt worth if u don't stay up to date.
recently I upgraded to lollipop 5.0 using odin and Russia firmware. But the RAM usage has gone nuts. Performance is not as smooth as before. I want to downgrade to 4.4.2 kitkat... How can I do that? Which firmware should I use?
Just install kk thru odin...

Click on my signature and follow the instructions, just substitute the correct version of KitKat for your device. You find the right KK OS at sammobile the links for everything are in my instructions. The procedure is the same just the KK OS is different. Enjoy !!!
does the firmware of different country make any difference???
Well it sure does

It could impact few bugs show or not, for example i flashed official UK version even if my country is far from there because kit kat was kinda most stable as UK version when i wanted to upgrade from 4.3. As far as lolipop is concerned it should use less ram than KK. You should give a try to some custom rom as you can find it even more stable than the official one. I personaly used X note as a official rom without triping knox. After i tripped knox i cant settle with 1 rom for about a year i think...
Isn't L more efficient?
I honestly thought that Lollipop was supposed to be more efficient.
Why would it be taking more RAM?
On that note, will anyone recommend a better aftermarket ROM with S-pen capabilities in 2015 for 900W8 version at least?

I also thought the same.... But there were other problems too...bATTERY DRAINED TOO QUICKLY.... Apps crashed frequently.... Overall performance was really disappointing...
Hello,
like the topic name says, should I update my phone to Lollipop?
I've read on older topics there are a lot of issues with stock 5.0.1, like lower battery life, lags and other stuff.
There have probably been a few OTA updates that might have fixed those issues?
What are you're guys experience so far with stock 5.0.1?
I'm still on 4.4.2 btw, so far it works great.
If you have i9505. Is recommend updating and flashing @Albe95 S6 Port which is the best current rom for S4

What about stock 5.0.1, yours and other peoples experience?
I just got the phone, so I'd like to keep it stock for now.
No and never update anything your phone in any way!
Update = Problems. Lollipop already proved that.
Hope you have not yet updated !
I haven't updated yet.
So I guess I should stay on 4.4.2 then.
Stay where you are. If you want lollipop go custom or gpe.
I too is still on 4.4.2, might try a custom lollipop

Stay where you are ,Lollipop has battery drain!!!
Thanks for all your input on this guys, I really appreciate it.
Hopefully Samsung will fix it through future updates.

Don't count on Samsung fixing anything in a timely fashion. At this point it's highly unlikely the S4 will ever see Android 5.1.1, especially if Samsung can't even be bothered to update the Google Play Edition S4 to 5.1.1 despite every other GPE phone already receiving it.
If you want a stock-ish custom Android 5.x ROM for your S4, there are at least three decent ones in the I9505 Development section: Imperium ROM, Lollirom, and Albe95's S6 port. Currently I'm using the S6 port as it's the only one of the three that is running Android 5.1.1.
BUMP'ing my old thread a month later because I don't need to create a new one.
Same question, there probably have been a lot of OTA updates after the first 5.0.1 came out on the S4,
is it worth now updating to 5.0.1?
Have the battery issues/lags/whatever problems been fixed?
I'm still on 4.4.2 and I'm tempted to update but I don't wanna get any problems.
The looks and feel of 5.0.1 are nothing if in expense of performance/battery.
Thank you for your time.

No, don't do it. I tried recently. Still crappy (clean install). So I'm back and will stay on KK for this devise. Faster, more reliable and fewer bugs.
DON'T, as others said stay at kitkat or older ,but if need lollipop so badly one of the following (both requires updating to lollipop)=
1.CyanogenMod or cm based ROMs(for touchwiz haters,half stable,recommended=CyanogenMod itself)
2.touchwiz based roms(for touchwiz fans or the people who are trying to be original, sometimes fully stable, sometimes half stable, recommended=able's s6 port or able's lollirom)
