[Q] Compatible network bands? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an S 5 on Verizon but will be traveling and want to know what networks I can use. I want to use prepaid for places I wont have WiFi coverage for their "unlimited" data. I have found some GSM based carriers like T Mobile and Straight Talk but I am unsure if my phone will work. Also, what service should I use to unlock my phone? I found a shady one that's free but I am not too comfortable about that.

A) The SIM slot on your Verizon S5 is already unlocked. There is no reason to pay any service for that. All Verizon LTE phones have unlocked SIM slots out of the box.
B) The Verizon S5 will work with T-Mobile, Straight Talk, Cricket, AT&T, etc. You may not get LTE everywhere with some networks, but you'll certainly get HSPA+. All you'll need to do is make sure you have the proper APN settings for the network you're using in order to get data working properly.

[Q] Band Selection

Good evening,
Is there a service menu screen within the atrix like on the samsung galaxy s?
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...rk-frequency-your-samsung-i9000-galaxy-s.html
I want to see if there is a similar method to this to enable 3G on 900mhz on my AT&T Atrix as I've read in several places that this frequency is locked down simply by software and that the radios in the AT&T and world/bell/uk versions are the same chip.
I have tried flashing several radios (UK, and other world ones) to no avail. I would like to enable this band as O2 in the UK are putting 3G on 900mhz (equivilant to AT&T's "4G" on 850mhz)
Any ideas on if I can do this at all please?
Yes, just dial *#*#4636#*#*

That does not do band selection.

Xperia on T-Mobile in Ga

I'm not sure if it has bee checked lately but I was wondering if it would be possible to get the 3g/4g bands to work in Georgia now?
I have an unlocked AT&T Xperia PLAY on Tmobile in northern Utah and I get HSPA+... its awesome. I get an average of 5-7mbps down 1-3mbps up.
There is no official refarming map for Tmo however there is this site where people mark if they have seen the coverage go from Edge/2G to AT&T compatible 3G/HSPA+. You can enter your zip code and see if people have marked any areas around you where they have seen the coverage change:
http://www.airportal.de/
Also, you need to get the T-Mobile APN settings on your phone, If you are on a gingerbread ROM you can download tweakker from the market and select Tmo standard, it will then automatically set the APN settings for you. You must be on wifi to use this app for it to download and check/confirm the settings.
After that you should be golden if you have updated coverage in your area.

getting AT&T s4 fully working on t-mobile

Hi,
My sim unlocked at&T s4 only gets LTE data after I make a call with the phone (after I turn it on). Will this fix it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291589 -- what will fix this?
Is there also a method to get HSPA+ working on the AT&T phone using t-mobile sim?
I'm beginning to think I should sell the two at&T s4 phones I have, and buy two t-mobile phones. Thanks!
Yes that will fix it... I was in your boat yesterday. Now I'm picking up all the bands and phones actually connecting to they're faster lte and hspa. You can see my comments on the thread a page back . It was pretty simple and didn't take long. Just follow the steps. And if *#7284# doesn't work use *#0808#. I had to search everywhere for that
After you do it you should have more apns pop up in here automatically. I use the one that's checked. I used to only have the one above it

will G928 model work on T-Mobile

I have the note 5 but have decided to get the edge + ,I can get the unlocked version G928 model on Amazon for $727 if I get straight from T-Mobile unfinanced its $779 plus tax. What I want to know is will the G928 unlocked model work on 4g LTE? And will other features such as WiFi calling work?
Anyone?
Unsure, Wifi calling may require carrier settings adding to it though that should happen when you insert the SIM Card.
Likely you have gotten a Factory unlocked jobby from somewhere though as all models are G928 the letters after this will help determine where it is from and what region it works with, as an example I'm in the UK and have a SM-G928F ... Thankfully not the Canyonero F model...

Hi does anyone know why I can't get 5g on my Nothing phone, I have preferred network set to 5g, have tried both my voda and ee Sims, my son and partner both have full 5g service on there EE and voda Sims which is weird. If I search for available networks it shows only 2g 3g and 4g networks as shown in the image.
Thanks in advance!

Have you confirmed with your service providers that you have 5G enabled on your services?
I had the same problem. Carrier didn't certify the pohne to use in it's network which is a big BS because phone supports all the needed 5G bands. Switched to another carrier - Mobile vikings - and I have 5G.
