Hi there,
I am a bit desperate about flashing my Desire Z now. I rooted and flashed my HTC Desire a couple of weeks ago with the Noob Proof Guide over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Unfortunately I couldn't find something like this for the HTC Desire Z as it seems to be totally different with this phone. Can someone please help and tell me how to root the Desire Z incl. S-OFF? I was trying to do it with the guide over here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905261
But unfortunately I don't understand the steps (for example I don't even know what adb is and how to use it.
Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for my noob questions
Good information can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=916431The
wiki for htc_vision is also very useful, you should have your questions answered with these resources.
P.S as complicated as it first looks this is the safest method to root your phone.

i DEFINITELY agree with this. the wiki does look confusing and complicated it is a really good way of rooting.
ill find some other guides i looked at and post them to see if it will help you but no promises...
Wiki wiki wiki.
Look for the "adb for noobs" thread, get adb working then follow wiki step by step!
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
KJY2010 posted a nice step by step tutorial along with ALL files necessary to recover from the leaked ICS upgrade if anyone is stuck with no answers.
Thread is in A500 & 501 Tutorial forums at androidtabletgeeks.com
Sorry can't link as a n00b to these forums.

Thank you sir.
There are alot of people in the Dev forum stuck with no one giving clear answers, and being a n00b here, I cannot post in that forum!
Hello,
I have tried the above tutorial a few times and am getting stuck at the step you enter the CPUID. Upon entering my ID it comes back and states CPU ID is bad format. I am not including the 0x and just using my serial number. Any ideas? Thank you.

If you wouldn't have closed your original account KJY2010 you wouldn't be noob here.
ATGadmin aka KJY2010 .
Offcorse you gonna deny this but I know better , already got confirmation on that .
Are you gonna link every post you do to AndroidTabletGeeks ?
I've been on your personal ignore list a while I think , not answering e-mail and skype.
Thanks for that , still got to figure out why but hé if that makes you happy !
Have a good one !
I appreciate that you and MD are trying to get your site off the ground, but why not share the information here and include the link to the OP. The picture guide is probably very useful to people and would benefit everyone to have it in both locations.
This looks like you are trying to poach people away. I know that may not be your intent, but the motives could appear suspect to some.
Also, there is a guide, without pictures, over in the developer section - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516012

Not our intent at all.
If you check the "time stamps" on both posts (the one I posted at ATG, as well as the one you posted) you'll see that the post at ATG (not the post I made here) was done hours before the post at XDA.
Having just been through the nightmare involved with having to revert from the ICS leak, finding my way back to a rooted ROM, and finding mostly hostile remarks directed at those that couldn't figure it out for themselves over in the DEV forum, we came up with a very clear, concise, and explicit TUT on how to get back to a rooted ROM, complete with ALL files needed to do so over at ATG.
As far as the "appearance of being suspect" goes, that's one of the reasons we started our own "community", and not just a mere forum.
While we literally just launched the site mere days ago, and don't have many members as of yet, those that have joined have already made remarks attesting to this fact. Most if not all of our members are members of several forums, some including XDA. No reason to "poach", as we're just giving people alternatives to finding information about things that we all share the same passion for..."All things Android Tablet Related".
Just wanted to clear up why, and when this post was made.
ty
Exactly, since we already have on XDA those informations http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516012 , this thread is now closed.
Has anyone got link to the S4 user manual, or even better can you attach to this thread.
Wouldn't mind a good read
there is a link to both of the user guides in this thread

Brilliant. Thanks
Pretty tired of my stock z981. I've been looking into rooting my device. I've found threads. But they point me into too many directions. Also, just to clarify, I would be rooting for the first time.
I found this thread, which has the steps.
androidforums.com/threads/new-root-method-for-z981-zmax-pro.1284305/#post-7792976
(I was going to join the discord posted in the thread, but the link/invite is expired. :| )
I need someone to walk me through the process at an elementary level, since I'm new to all this. Plus, I don't want to be to hasty and end up obliterating my phone.
I managed to turn on usb debugging. But that's as far as I got..
Seems no one answers this particular forum. My post has 33 views and not
one answer .
Sorry I couldn't be of any help, GLTY.

Use this link:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/zte-zmax/how-to/zmax-pro-free-twrp-root-method-t3767821
and go to page 7 or 8 where PowerUser64 gives a link to an excellent resource.
That should give you root access
