Hello,
Quick question. Can we flash stock android on S4 i9500 to make it identical to the one being released by google ? (To receive the updates directly from Google, and not from Samsung).
Thanks
It might be possible in future for snapdragon i9505 version since vanilla gs4 would probably get the same hardware but not for octa

What do you exactly mean by stock android?

He probably means vanilla AOSP, without any traces of Samsung's bloatware, interfaces or apps.
Non-Stock version
I'd rather go for a non-stock version of the galaxy s4 as it is more feature rich as compared to the google version of the same. It will essentially be the same phone except for some hardware changes but is otherwise much better to have. Also, after rooting I have the privilege to delete all/any bloatware I donot wish to have. As there are somethings I wouldn't want to miss out on.
It might be a matter of personal choice but buying a TW S4 gives you the option to go either way using custom ROMs.
I just received the S4 today and, honestly, I already can't stand Touchwiz after only two hours. I made it two months with Sense on my HTC One without switching to a Google Edition rom, so that says something.
Anyway, over at the HTC board the developers are in the progress of porting Sense apps to the Google Edition rom which is really awesome. I was wondering if the same was happening over here. There aren't many Samsung apps I do want, but there are a few that would be nice to have.
Oh, also is there a mod to make the whites better on this thing? Even in movie mode things like my Beautiful Widgets widget look murky. Otherwise, the screen is pretty great. I prefer keeping it in Standard mode because it's a decent balance between oversaturation and true colors. Thanks!

Have you checked Play Store? There's quite a few stock Samsung apps on there

Only way would be to make a "similar" launcher by yourself using Nova/GO/APEX etc etc and just tweak it. You can't/won't be able to use any HTC .apk's on your Note due to framework incompatibilities.
HTC sense is perfect system, but I cannot understand, why we cannot use it on our devices, because I think, that it can be ported. But may be I'm completely wrong as only htc kernels sources are available.

Exactly. And this launcher cannot run on our N5s.
These applications will give update to HTC devices when ever HTC updates one of these application.
How about the HTC Sense Camera App on N5?
According to below link, they have managed to get previous version to work on Google Edition ROMS.

Lol at name....
"Cannot" wrong word i think, may work in future if someone port it
Maybe, I wish him/her luck. The nickname is from the book "Die Abenteuer des Werner Holt". It's a story about two friends in a time of WW II.

That's because Google Edition ROMS still have the original framework I believe. As in the GE HTC One still has the Sense framework so Sense specific apps will work on GE. Not sure about the s4 version, but it is probably similar. That being said it is probably next to impossible to get the camera to work with a Nexus 5.
Should be able to at least get the gallery working right

When HTC one gpe 1st came out a whole lot of sense framework was present...and as more updates came..they took out the sense framework which broke the camera for good

Gallery and Camera are a linked application so no camera = no gallery. I had the HTC One prior to this phone. I've been around the mill on the Sense apps.
The framework is now also included in the play store. Most of these apps are compatible with HTC One M8 GPE Edition also.

Similar issues with GS4 GPE. It was "aosp" with touchwiz and google frameworks... hardly aosp... in fact... the aosp roms were more different than our aosp vs stock options.

I see by your comment that you've owned an HTC device before.

LOL I have an N5, Note3, and HTC One (M7) right now. But yes I have used many HTC phones before some where hit or miss. My very first HTC was Nexus One.
i used to own the htc one and blinkfeed was a huge batt drainer

Not for me it wasn't. Used it all the time but got the same battery I get with this phone.

FYI, someone posted the HTC apk files for blinkfeed (and more) here.
I was able to install it while in Dalvik mode (doesn't install on ART), but when setting as home launcher it gives an error "Device not authorized/not compatible error". I was amazed I was able to get it to install at all (as well as the resource apk under the framework folder in the provided zip).

Since I found lots of Q about why AOSP doesn't support the SPen functions found on touchwiz
and I found the answer why..
did any one thought about developing some thing similar that can work with the AOSP ROMs?
how hard is it?
and could it be done at all?
GMD_Spen and plenty of others offer the same functions more or less.
There's boatloads in the app store.
