[Q] How to add my old Fonts? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm new on the N 9005 and was badly surprised by the new Samsung politics with Fonts in Settings.
As owner of an oooold Note 1, a beautiful N 2, I saw, sadly, that the "progress" or "improvements" aren't no so glamorous as the N3 phone itself.
And one of these "improvements" are the impossibility of apply any of my dozens of fonts stored this years. They are "not compatible".
But, the worst is that Samsung provides an online link to..... Samsung Apps, to download new fonts. And I retrieve there some of my fonts that I've payed previously on Play Store, but with a price... That stinks.
OK. I found out "iFonts" on Play St, but that's not exactly what I want...
Is there some workaround, some app or tricky thing to install any "com.monotype.xxx" font, as I did on previous phones?
Thanks!

OK, a little UP to say maybe I've found out a solution, here, in Spanish (sorry) : http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=819706
I've not tryed yet....It seems that this can work.

[Q] Cross-tablet apks

Hi all...
I was wondering if and how could be possible to port apks built for one tablet to another of different brand, i.e. I liked a lot the email client of the Samsung Galaxy 10.1 (with multiple email selector and recycle bin emptying feature), but many others are worth a try...
When I try simply to push the email.apk to my Iconia, it won't work (the icon diasppears from apps), if I try to install it I obtain an error (app not installed) probably due to a signing mismatch... I'd like really to learn how to do this, if possible. This knowledge will complete and accomplish any further request about personalization of our tablets, could be a great improvement being capable to get out the "system" you really want...
I tried to figure out how to use apk manager, but it's quite really difficult without some good suggestion, the thread is more than 200 pages long, and I got stoned before simply find out any usefull info about "system apks"...
TIA
I would like to know also. I want the Facebook account integration from the Galaxy.
Some apps are license by that manufacurer and would be considered wares.its a gray area please be careful. And make sure the Dec of all apps you use get paid
simple answer
couple of APK for galaxy are using CORE framework of the galaxy tabs firmware itself
that will not be possible to just install those apk.
such as
touchwizUI
status bar overlay (I mean the minimode menu with quick access), the quick access settings...
Email and Social things
It's their "Marketing Strenght" so they didn't make it easy to be "stolen" by other brands
I run just the dual clock, the memo, and eReader from samsung but I am running a custom firmware so that change many things
At this moment only 1 custom firmware does use Samsung as base, Virtuous Galaxy... but I have to warn that using custom firmware without following backup steps strictly or knowing the consequence is to AVOID.

first of all, thanks for your answer, and your warn...
I'd like to go deep in the question, as you correctly affirmed, virtuous galaxy's based upon Unity v5 kernel, but virtuous picasso also lays on the same structure, doesn't it?
right now I'm running m-dj's picasso 1.1.0 rom, wouldn't be possible, with any required modification, to run elsewhere coming apks?
I mean, think about having two different pcs, both with the same hardware and the same linux distro and kernel, wouldn't seem wierd that on one pc you could run an application that won't run on the other?
I'm thinking, if they wanted to protect their components why they didn't simply wrote hardware oriented kernels? Therefore, its a fact that on my iconia I can run either a Samsung or an Asus based rom, according to this, where is the cross-platform limit? I mean, is there some sort of documentation defining which part of these Android system is "really" open, under GPL, GNU or whatever structured property info list? I can't find any browsing the net... or maybe I've found too much, its almost impossible to understand what you can and what you can't...
I do not know the whole answer to this question.but I do know this much.if you have any.apk application that is for sale on the market or was installed for free on any device that it was not pre installed on. I would thing it would be considered pirated. As you did not buy it.nor did the developer give permission to run the API on your device.thou some apostle you buy can be installed across the devices you have registered with Googler
if im wrong people please correct me.I just think that developers that fallow rules and write great software MUST BE PAID.

Right and Wrong
if the application is a paid application and wasn't preinstalled on your tablet it is not really legal
if the application is free but cannot be installed from the market and you install it from other sources it's ok
if the application is from another tablet, and exclusively on this tablet do not expect run it on the stock firmware of your tablet, you have great chance to cannot run it simply, or get some random FC (such as from GALAXY because they use another structure on the file directory... so some application try to get the path and it's return an error, Or they are implemented and integrated with the kernel and that... you can't pass throught)
On my tablet I do run
ASUS widget
Galaxy widget (dual clock)
and some other application not from ACER.
now to get back to the OP
. you are on a virtuous... why not go on the virtuous Galaxy !!! if you want galaxy application... I don't get it...

I agree to this explanation of yours, when I flash a rom different from the original, aware that's coming from a different brand, I'm more or less conscious that I'm doing something wrong. mmmf... that's philosophy... won't lose your time
The point is, I've tried the Galaxy rom, I don't like the interface, I don't like the extra bar functionalities, in short I mostly appreciated the Email.apk, most of all because it has a convenient "select all" function, even in the recycler bin (I can't stand with an email client stupid like the one embedded in the Acer version). In any case, given the impossibility to get the Galaxy Email, I'll buy a new one on the market...

[Q] In app Purchases - The best way to implement?

I'm currently making an app that installs some stuff to make emoticons work on anything on the Android system, with a free part of the app that installs the font from the guys at No More Boxes, which allows you to see almost all of them, and then a second part, activated by either one in app purchase of either "emoji_keyboard" which installs a custom emoji keyboard, or "more_emoji" which installs a second font as well as the one that displays almost all of them, to see all but a few ones that you can see on iOS and some that iOS users can't see
Right, that's the background done
The idea is to use In app Purchases. However, using multiple guides, I have not been able to get them to work. I tried the Blundell guide, but I was left with it working but no way to respond do a successful purchase and don't know how to get it to query purchases manually
I also tried the official way, from both the Android developers site and the blog branched off there, but was left with force closes when the activity started as it couldn't set up the service correctly - the instructions aren't the most clear either
Finally, I found the AndroidBillingLibrary, but that's for API version 2, which is now depreciated.
So I ask, what methods have people on here used?
Thanks

[Q] Leftarmspinner gone

Hey!
There was this guy, Leftarmspinner, who had dozens of LGHome themes in Play Store.
Now I can't find him in Play Store. Anyone got any ideas why he disappeared? Or is my Play Store omitting some results?

I don't know this 'leftarmspinner' guy but I quickly googled some info on his themes and they look a lit like this persons:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=jsvapps
Maybe taken down because they were exactly what this person has?
either that or he probably changed his name/ account?
Hah, indeed. His themes were just like jsvapps'.
Thanks!

Text from the link:
Dear Google developer account Admins,
Facts:
1. Recently Opened Another developer account (So I had 2 developer accounts)As i still do not know If its Ok to have 2 dev accounts or Not. I searched google + other forums and no luck before I opened my 2nd account. So I asked in one of the dev community on reddit and most of them seem it is Ok and some of them already have 2.
2. Why 2 accounts: As i make themes, One (Primary and first one) of account had themes for specific brand of phones and IT WILL NOT WORK on any other launcher than that phone. so I created a different account (2nd account) and created themes for Other famous launchers like Nova, Apex and adw etc etc. Please NOTE that Both the Accounts have different apps... Some of them icons may look like same but one apps doesn't work on other vice versa.
3. But why? Cos most of them looked same as they were themes many times users installed the themes on wrong devices and complained. So I thought of this "great idea" to create to different accounts and separate them and remove confusion. AGAIN BUT Screen Shots might look same but THEY ARE DIFFERENT apps for Different Launchers.
4. Previous offences: Few(about 4)of my themes were made for fans of some sports clubs... So I used the club names in my Theme description and name. So Suddenly one day I got 4 of my themes got suspended. (So i guess four strikes) In one shot. Atleast if they would given a warning or some sort of hint I would never have used their names or anything that sort. But anyway I thought lesson learned.
5. Then finally after everything was going smooth.. my user base was increasing, App sales were going up.. Everything looked like summer after dreadful winter. I Created 2 themes/ 2 apps with same Icons.. One for account 1 (For specific phone, Only works on that phone) and the other one Other launchers like Nova,Apex etc.
I got any email suspending that app on account 1. Saying that I'm spamming.. Generic Email with No details.. So I thought may be b'cos the Names look same (Even though they were different on everything except for 1 word in the name)So I changed the name and Upload again. THAT IS IT! My Complete developer account got suspended. All 19+ apps which were in good standing were gone in a second. Man I was devastated. I tried email the automated email (no reply one) and each time I get the same message (mostly automated) I just wanted to why and what triggered it.. so that I can remove those wording. Also I DID NOT REPEAT THE APPS NAME, NOR I DID NOT USE OTHER APP NAMES in my descriptions. If you see most of my reviews and ratings on that account was clean and people were happy. All MY FREE APPS Do NOT HAVE AD's or Collect Data. PURE FREE. I make a honest buck. all the previous offences were honest mistake As i did not know that I cannot user there club names in Description. And the final Straw had NO violation at all.
My Question: Is it against the developer rules to have 2 accounts? If yes please post if somewhere so that people can know.
2. I posted all my apps with different names on second account with different names. So users who bought them before can no longer download as they showup as new... IT IS NOT FAIR FOR THEM. I MADE FEW OF MY APPS FREE TO COMPENSATE for what has happened. Also Planning To make new themes and make free for the trouble I caused them whether it was my fault or Not. As I tried to refund many using pay-pal etc but unable to keep up with that.
Finally: I would really appreciate if you can re-open my account and Some human can look into this than a machine. I'M READY TO CLOSE MY SECOND ACCOUNT if that was the problem.
Thank you so much.
Leftarmspinner
Anyone got an update to this? I just re-formatted my device and a bunch of the themes I had purchased are now gone. I've gotten burned so many times on paid apps disappearing from the app store I'm starting to second guess spending my money there at all.

[Q] Missing font? Maybe? App is not displaying correct text.

I work at a Cricket Wireless store, and generally can fix any issues customer's are having with their phones. I am not a developer by any means, but I can do basic things. Flashing a custom ROM, for example, isn't difficult for me. (Just to give you an idea of experience level). But I am trying to help someone at the moment and I am at a loss.
My customer is a Sikhism priest (forgive me if that is not worded correctly), and he needs a religious text on his device known as the Adi Granth. Up until recently, he had an app called Gur Gyan (link below) that displayed his text in his native language (Punjabi/Gurmukhi). He did an update recently, and now it will not work. However, I'm not sure whether he just updated the app, or if he updated his device, as he is now running Lollipop 5.0.
He has a Google Nexus 4. I tried viewing a webpage which displays Punjabi text, and it worked, making me think that his device does still support the Punjabi font. I could be mistaken though. Below is a screenshot of what the text actually looks like.
There are plenty of Adi Granth alternatives, the problem is, they are all in English. This is the only app he could find that gave both a Punjabi format, and search support. I am looking for either a fix to my problem, or an alternative that will work for him. Any help would be appreciated.

How can you change your FONT on the Galaxy S8/S8+?

So, as we all know... Samsung is a b#tch.
They have blocked the fonts. Unfortunately for me, I did not know about it, and I got a Samsung Galaxy S8. Now, something that profoundly annoys me is the fact that the emojis are so ugly... I just simply hate them. I hate snapchatting in them, facebooking, even texting. They're ugly, and not nearly as neat as an iPhone's.
Now, of course, Android > iOS, but let's face it, in emojis - iOS > Android. I thought however, that it would be possible to have iOS emojis on my Android device (in fact this has been possible to achieve in previous years), but simply no font works due to Samsung's stupid decision to block it.
Therefore, I would like to know if it would be possible (even if it requires root - although I would prefer not to root the phone) to change the font. Even if I have to plug my phone into the computer and do some tweaking in the files, I don't mind it. I even though of creating my own font by using a Samsung default font, use the same format as Monotype Imaging, and develop my own emojis (as I am a graphic designer) and then install it on my phone, but I would have no idea how to do it.
As long as I can have pretty iOS (or similar, but preferably iOS) emojis I would be happy.
Any help is greatly appreciated, thanking you all in advance,
Dragil
Please!!! I require some help on this.
It's unbelievable how much it's frustrating me.
If anyone has any idea, any help they can provide me, any guidance, I'd appreciate it forever.
I've searched over 5 pages on Google with multiple word and sentence variation, read through countless websites, download dozens of fonts, even considered the creation of my own but it won't be possible due to the fonts having a signature to them.
I'll root my phone if necessary, but I still need help!

rooting is the last way to get ur preferred fonts if not available by other means.
It seems his concern is more about the Emoji style...he prefers the iOS emoji's versus the samsung/androi emoji's.
I don't know of any way to change the system level emoji's as they are baked into the system. But for text messages, I use Textra it allows me to use other style emoji but it only works in textra.
when rooted, simply install Emoji Switcher from the playstore and choose the the set of emojis you want. it will change them across the whole system.
The problem is Samsung only allows fonts created by Monotype Imaging. This means there is a sort of digital signature embedded into the apps/fonts, hence fonts downloaded from the play store (e.g. Emoji Font 3) is no longer supported on Samsung devices.
Is there anyway to dodge this? Maybe creating a digital signature to replicate Monotype Imaging's one, by modifying our own font apk file to be identical to the Monotype's one. That seems plausible and possible to achieve, I just have no coding experience and seriously don't feel like going through too much hassle just to change the damn phone emojis.
All I really need to do is be able to change my font to a font with emojis similar to the iPhone's. Would personally like to be able to have ALL my emojis modified, even if not the iPhone's make them similar (like the emojis on Microsoft Edge Windows 10 on the website getemoji).
Simply think Samsung is a total fail in terms of design of their emojis, and should definitely make them more graphically appealing in future software updates. Emojis are such a big part of our lives, or at least mien with sharing text with others, and should be nice to look at.
I love the fact that Android gives us so many possibilities and customisation options when comparing to Apple, but with Samsung taking these approaches (like not allowing free fonts anymore - well, fonts available in other markets), it's taking from us that benefit of having an Android.
Rooting seems the only way, but I'll keep fighting for one to appear as I am keen on having nicer looking emojis on my phone.
why is so hard to find the SanFrancisco font from iPhone and iOS?
The app I use is called iFont and I'm using Armani font

iFont doesn't work for me unfortunately... Even the pro version. What Android do you have (7.0, 6.0?)
7.0 Rooted

Unbelievable how much of a b%tch Samsung is.
I don't understand why it is so difficult to just unlock that feature. Maybe someone will crack the font signature and allow app creators to use it... Until then, we either root it, or live with the ugliness of Samsung emojis.
Anyone in the Q&A section knows how to?
