Hi guys, I flashed PAC-Man ROM a few days ago (Not sure if this is related, but including it anyways) and I have a 64 GB SD Card installed on my 16GB S4 GT i9505. I noticed just recently that my phone only reads half of my SD card for some reason. When I plug my SD card straight into my PC, I can see all of the folders in it. However, when I plug my phone into my PC and try to read the SD card contents like that, I can't see over 3/4 of its contents. Moreover, I can see the files just fine on FX and any other file browser, but my music player won't detect that there's any music on my phone (My music is one of the folders that doesn't show up when I view my phone via PC)
I tried formatting the SD card, but to no use.
Can anyone help me or tell me what to do please? Is it a partition thing? Thank you for your time.

I've got hold of a new MicroSD card, class 2 16Gb.
I've got about 6Gb of music which I want to copy across but I am having huge problems.
Firstly I tried using Windows Media Player sync function - but it only works for about 20 tracks and then stalls.
Copying the files directly using 'Disk' or 'ActiveSync' settings - look like everything is OK, but when I look at some of the contents of the folders they have wierd/scrambled names.
What is really puzzling me, is that I have both quick, and full, formatted the SD Card and the same folders are always messed up. I have tried every combination of copy method I can think of!!! The files are fine on my PC.
Copying the backup of the contents of my old SD Card onto the new one works fine.
Anyone else had this? Is it my SDCard that is screwed? Please Help!!!
no it's active sync and media player that are screwy. for best results put the card in a card reader on your pc, or if not available when connecting the phone to pc choose disk drive mode and copy it that way.
I'd say you got a faulty / "fake" card.
I have two 16gb micro SD's and I've found a similar situation in both cards.
When I'm in usb data mode (either in Android or WM) files will NOT copy onto the SD card. It will show the file icon but there is no data there.
eg. I copy a song onto the memory card, I see the song name + icon on the card. Disconnect USB mode, and go to play the song... it's not there. The phone can't read it.
At the moment I've resorted to sticking my memory card into my N95 and copying data that way... so sad lol.
Any Suggestions/Ideas?
It could be that the data is not actually being written before you dismount. Make sure to properly stop the USB device. Its happend to me before. Sorry couldn't be of more help.

I had some similar problems, I ended up using micro sd in laptop to copy some files over. Or, I rebooted phone after sync and they were there.
Sorry guys, I am traveling right now and my wife needs a bit of help.
She took her SD card out of her Rezound and put it in the S5. She is trying to figure out where everything is stored as when you look at the SD card (when its plugged into the PC) its not showing all of her files?
Basically she needs to move music over and when the SD card is in she cant find anything on the phone. Is there a new format that needs to be used or does anyone know why she wouldnt be able to view the entire contents of her SD card while the S5 is plugged into the PC?
bump... I am having this exact same issue.

KitKat changed how apps can access the external SD card so if you just swap a card into a KK device you will probably not be able to access all existing app files with same apps you had on the old device. When you plug it in to the PC however I'd expect that you can see everything (unless some files are hidden for some reason). So maybe her music was on the 16GB internal storage of the Rezound?
File transfer is fast on USB 3.0 so just format the card through the new phone (Settings> Storage> Format SD card) and transfer it back over. I usually create a "Music" folder in the root of the SD card and dump whatever right in when it connected to PC... I just did this on my S5 a few minutes ago and the phone saw the music when I started the Music app.
I'd consider it good practice to format the card when changing phones anyway.
I just flashed SlimBean 4.3.build.2.2-OFFICIAL-1738 to my Galaxy S3 I747 (AT&T version).
Since then I'm having problems accessing my external SD card that I'm pretty sure is fine since it's what I just flashed the rom from. When I first tried to mount the card in SlimBean it wanted to format it. I let it try to format, but it seemed to struggle - took a long time and got a little unresponsive.
I've pulled it and formatted it fat32 in a PC using an adapter, but SlimBean still does not work with it. Mounting, unmounting and attempts to access this card seem to have caused one freeze and one random reboot. All seems good with the rom when the card is out, or as long as I don't try to access it.
I successfully ran a TWRP backup of my new SlimBean system to this external SD. Behavior of the card is still spastic in SlimBean. It keeps showing card was removed followed by preparing the card over and over in the notification area when I try to access it from ES or Slim file explorers. I was able to see from the ROM that the TWRP backup files are there and they appear to be the right size, but the card is behaving badly.
Anyone else ever run into this problem, or have any ideas as to a solution?
I'm still fighting this SD card. I've formatted it fat32 with GParted (quick). Formatted it with a terminal mkdosfs -F 32 (sloooow). Now my phone can see it and I can browse files I've put there using a computer, but the phone can't write to the SD card. Also a media player, using rocket player, can play back songs; however, it only plays back the first 4 - 6 seconds then skips to the next song.
I'm starting to suspect a faulty card or slot in my S3. Still hoping someone from the community might have solved a similar problem....
Hello everyone, dire need of help here!
I got a new Micro SD card 64 GB Strontium for the phone and formatted it to use as Internal Memory - all previous phones I have been using SD card as portable storage, this is the first time I am using it as internal memory.
It worked fine for 2 days but suddenly yesterday all the photographs folders disappeared from the Gallery app (DCIM folder). I restarted the phone a couple of times but no luck - first some thumbnails disappeared, and then the entire folder!
Since this morning, the phone get restarted continuously, non-stop, while the SC card is inside the phone. If I remove the SD card, the phone works normally. So I am unable to use phone when SD card is inside - unable to copy all the files from the SD card onto a laptop even since the phone restarts before I can do anything on the connected laptop.
What do you think is the problem? How to resolve it?
How to recover all the pics and files on the SD card if I have to format it?

Try this

I would try to recover pics by mounting SD-CARD on PC. I've had SD-CARDs go bad a few times.
