So we have the download booster working as intended here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785420
Where are the files located that make this feature work?
And once there, could it be as simple as changing a value such as "download size" from 30mb to say 1kb to force all downloads to go through the booster? And or could specific apps be selected to always use download booster?
I have a dream of downloading things very very fast.
Any input is appreciated.
I'd also like to know if we can tweak this.
Currently it seems like only HTTP and HTTPS services are open to the download booster. We need to open up FTP and and torrents for this to be very beneficial.

I need to find a way to invoke the installer app on the G1 when downloading a third party app via OTA. I know its possible, I'm just still stuck in the Windows Mobile realm and haven't switched gears to Linux for awhile. Any thoughts?
If you're talking about installing via the web browser on the device, you need to serve up a specific mime type, i believe it is application/vnd.android.package-archive
I read somewhere on another forum that there's a setting that needs to be changed on the phone to allow non-market apps to install on the device. I'll see if I can find it.
Here's how
Download Web files and applications
Before you download any files or applications using the Browser, note the following:
• Before you can download Web applications, you must explicitly “allow” downloading from the Home > Settings screen:
1
Press HOME, then press MENU and select Settings.
2
Select Applications, then on the Application settings screen, select the Unknown sources check box.
• All items downloaded form the Web are stored on your SD card, so be sure you have a card installed in your phone before you download from the Browser. (Read more in “SD card slot” on page 11.)
• The Browser will only allow you to download items that are supported by an application installed on the phone.
I can't get any apk file to install if its on the SD. Is there anyway that the apk could call on the installer to run? Its a really big pain for me right now. I need to be able to offer a free app but for reasons I can't get into I need it to be installed from the device and not OTA.
Hi,
I just downloaded a torrent-app for my HD2, the problem though is that I can't dowload anything because files being downloaded uses the free space on the device-memory as Temp. This also happened one time downloading a file through opera, so I figure it is not based on the app downloading the file, but rather some system settings.
Is there any way to change where active downloads are being temped? /:

It may be a setting somewhere in the application - it's not going to be a generic thing. All applications use whatever they want to use.
Which torrent app is it?

I recently bough tabdroid pro (as I am a guitarist) and it makes my life so much easier learning songs. When I try to download the file that the app reads (.gp*) the native browser gives me a "download unsuccessful, content is not supported on this phone"
So I either have to put the files on the sdcard through my computer or use the dolphin browser, both of which are sub-optimal. Is there anyway to download these files through the native browser?
Also, a couple flash's ago I was able to download these files with no problem, for some reason it now refuses to work. Yes I can download other files like .mp3 and .apk.
Thanks
I am making an app that I want the end users to be able to download files that I am hosting on file hosting sites. Basically I just need WebView to treat downloads just like the android browser does because I am allowed to download them to my phone with the android browser, but not when I am using my app in WebView, so how can I fix this?? Thanks.
100 views and no one knows how to allow downloads with webview?
If you have Download Booster enabled variant, I need Logs of it enabled / disabled / downloading a file with Download Booster / etc so I can see what is going on for Download Booster (aka Network Booster or NWBooster). Trying to develop port to non-enabled devices (like AT&T,Sprint,Verizon, etc) but have got everything else except the Booster working. Thanks for any and all info related to this.

Some prerequisites: need root, have web browser that has open a site to immediate download file larger than 50MB for fat access, Download Booster WORKING phone, CatLog from play store.
After opening Catlog, the app will start displaying logs (this step is to make sure logs running). Go immediately to status bar toggle for Download Booster, enable/disable/re enable again (so logs present of this action). Now go start the download of 50MB file and verify that Download Booster working in notification area. Once the Download booster is working in all areas, go back to CatLog, expand all entries (arrow button). Hit menu button (long press recents button) and save logs. Before posting, search through saved log yourself to verify that entries are present saying ""NetworkBooster" (or other variants of the words) are present. Then post here. Thanks for the help.
