Smooth Scrolling Mod
Reviving of the Smooth Scrolling Mod (previously made by Hammer_Of_The_Gods)
Now for Cataclysm, Euphoria, Pastapop and more
Will update the mod for every new build here
This mod works also on Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and both Nexus 7's
If you want to see this mod on the rom you are using give me the framework.jar, and maybe I will consider it
Download
Make a Nandroid Backup (of system) beforehand
It works on both Dalvik and ART
Explanation: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51114977&postcount=210
Enjoy
Also works on Nexus 4 thanks man, I was noticing lag and thought it was just my device beginning to show it's age, this is awesome

Sorry dude, I used reply and it autoquoted XDA's always done that, kinda annoys me a bit too.
Also, why wouldn't it work? They use almost exactly the same code apart from drivers and maybe some differently sized pngs in systemui, but other than that the software is identical

The framework should be different too, I guess not :/
Thanks for this! Cool that it works on the N4 as well.
THX mate great seeing Mahdi getting your treatment regularly now
One question: does flashing a different kernel after the mod affect the mod itself?
For example: I flash Mahdi, then put it on art, then flash your mod but thereafter want to change kernel, is this possible? Or do I have to reflash the mod again after changing kernel?
Sent from my Nexus 5
Won't flash for me...am I missing something, I'm on the latest build

I think it doesn't matter but to be safe flash a kernel first, let it boot and settle and then flash the mod

Ok, maybe there is a little difference in Play Store but I am not sure it's not due to the new material Play Store which was already smother. Anyway scrolling is still a bit glitchy in Play Store and Facebook. I can say it's a big difference if I compare dalvik and ART, but here... Maybe because I am using N4?
Oh, what's wrong with scrolling in Root Explorer? This is actually really smooth
I saw major improvement in Facebook

OK so I been searching around for custom recent app mods. The closest thing I came to was recent mods for the gnex and of course they don't work for the n4's. It would be pretty awesome ifwe had such mods. I am reaching out to any themers and devs who could possibly create one for aosp, pa, cm10.1 and aokp 4.2.2 based ROMs on our nexus 4. Please feel free to let me know on my thread or pm me if anybody would be interested in taking up this project. Thanks guys.

ok so i flashed the mod on my current setup. No flashed mods or tweaks. I got a force close on systemui evertime i pressed the recent menu button.
Then i tried a clean install and got stuck at the bootanimation.

What recovery and gapps are you using? I was using twrp and latest bangs gapss and you say your using aokp on this mod?
I believe systemui is larger because of the pie ui too.
I've been playing with bootanimations past day or so, (including making one myself, which I scrapped because it sucked.)
My big question is, does the Nexus 5 allow for boot sounds? I've found a wicked sick bootanimation that has included sound file that is also wicked cool, but of course, no idea how to make the sound work.
I'm running rooted, stock rom, TWM.
Cheers!

Hey, author of that popular BIOS animation here. According to some users in my thread, boot sounds are absolutely possible. I haven't had time to research them yet, as I'm in the middle of finals, so I have no idea how they work or what's involved, but I definitely plan giving it a look ASAP.

This would be pretty cool. I'd definitely use it. I'd like to be able to add a sound to any bootanimation (even stock - which I like).
Mu understanding was that you would need to edit the desc.txt file in to boot animation and list where you would like the sound to start. Then import it to /system/media/audio or /system/media/audio/notifications but neither worked for me.
Has anyone tried this?
Hello!
To get a custom sound you need to place the required audio file(mp3) into system/media/audio/ui named as Bootsound.mp3

I've tried quite a few different things. From what I've gathered, it's not possible on stock AOSP because the kernel has to support it. So if we can convince a kernel dev to try to implement it, we might have a shot.

Yeah, it works on TouchWiz because the kernel supports it, from what I've read. Maybe if an AOSP kernel dev has the time to check out the TouchWiz kernel source...
Edit: Or vice-versa, as the case may be.

A couple of questions :
If i understand well, you will "continue" the project of Hammer ?
I think there was e revert zip for the mod, for those who wished to uninstall it.
Will you provide it too or is it enough to dirty flash the Rom in order to revert back to stock values
if someone wants it ?
Thanx again :good:

Why?
Why? Because root is not fully functional yet. Not every "root" app works, only some. Apps that allow reboot, bootloader, power off, and recovery do not even work and if they do (not aware any do) they require a huge effort in "give and take" with getting everything permissive.
In all honesty, most of us are waiting for CF to accomplish what only he seems to be able to do... Achieve 100% permissive root access. Only "Custom" builds are even halfway to achieving anything and it's STILL due to CF's work...
*popped* my, got to be 100th user account, cherry for ya!
I flashed supersu beta 19 and have full root and have reboot manager and that works perfect so maybe just use that for time being

Holo reboot works fine, but I just prefer native options. I also have root running perfectly fine after running cf autoroot, so I'm not exactly sure what root problems anyone is talking about. I get some methods don't work, but it's not like root is unobtainable.
for the meantime I just use terminal emulator until android L can be fully rooted.
All you can do now is wait for custom rom or support from xposed

I've thought about grabbing one from another nexus's custom rom but I didn't want to bother wasting my time if it didn't work. thanks!
After taking a look, the rom linked is deodexed, and I much more prefer odex, as I said in the OP. If you know a way to odex this I'd be grateful, because every method I've known in the past to odex a rom says it won't work with lollipop (I assume because of the new file structure /system/app, /system/app-priv, etc.)

/system/app and /system/priv-app existed in KitKat as well. /system/app always existed; ICS, JB etc.
What's so special about odex? Sure it might run a little faster, but I don't understand that kind of repression.

Folders for each individual app did not exist before LP. Also, app-priv was not around before KK. However, the new structure to which I was referring is the new folder for each individual apk.
And I want it ODEXED because I use the factory image as my daily rom. It's that simple. I want a mod I can flash after a factory image with absolutely no hassles, like having to deodex an entire rom just for one mod. Also, yes....ODEX is faster, the battery life is better, the rom is overall smoother, and much more stable. Since I do as minimal modifications possible (like basically just this) deodexed roms offer me absolutely no benefit from the ease of modification.... and since this is their biggest perk, coupled with the fact that I use factory images anyway, I see absolutely no reason whatsoever to need a deodexed mod (or rom)
I didn't think I would ever have to explain why I would want it....jeez....back in the day I would have had 4 mods posted at this point and not one person would have questioned my motives.
Is it what you're looking for ?

Here are some things I have found after flashing

You mean AOSP Paradox? If so, I would have to say no. I haven't flashed that rom, but from what I've read, NFC is stuck to on, wifi makes phone reboot, and RIL doesn't work (won't detect SIM card). All these things work on this CM13 rom.

I am using benzo gapps, and they seem to be working fine. Also, the mod from the experimental thread to enable softkeys works. Have been able to enable soft keys, which in turn makes Google Now on tap work, and disable hardware keys and backlight.

So what do u think of this Rom compared to the experimental one? Is this one more stable or is the exp. one more stable?

Looks like the dev took it down

Would there really be any changes from the build that was posted? Just wondering if its worth flashing an update yet.

I never ran the exp. build. Requires way too many tweaks to get things working for my liking. I will say I have been running the original CM13 build posted for about a hour or so now and everything has been stable so far. I listed the small bugs I have found so far in my previous post.
