Hi,
I´m thinking about getting a S4+, to upgrade the S4 mini I have at the moment. The Kitkat ROM was just released OTA here in Sweden to this model. However, I´m a bit hesitant to if I should upgrade to this or not, since I have read a lot of things......and found that I have a few issues with this release compared to JB.
Could someone maybe try to clarify this for me?
1. I´ve read that text reflow is no longer working in browsers in Kitkat. It this true for the S4/S4+ TouchWiz Kitkat version? Any way around this issue?
2. GPS settings have changed somehow. The toggle in the activity menu is redesigned, but there is also some changes made to the functionality. But exactly what has been changed?? I don´t get that.
3. If I install a "exSD card fix" app from Play store, will this also fix the issue that files will be deleted if I uninstall the app that has created the files and have them in its folder? I´m trying to find out if the status of the exSD-changes that Google introduced in Kitkat will be reverted to exactly like in JB after applying these kind of apps, or if the exSDcard functionality still will be broken somehow.
4. Does Towelroot work on the Kitkat version of S4+?
5. Is there any other significant bugs or issues with Kitkat on S4+ that could be nice to know about before making the decision to upgrade from JB or not??
Big thanks guys for your input and feedback!
Cheers!

Hi there,
I need a hint.... I have a N7100, updated to firm 4.3 from 4.1.2, but I would like to go back to the previous firm version.
I know that there are several issues about it, but before the update to OS 4.3 I did the full backup with CWM on my external SD card. Basically, I should have everything backupped (I guess, including the EFS folder...), and I was wondering if it may be possible to do the step back in this way...
I have already rooted the mobile to install the last available version of ClockWorkMod (..so, Knox is now 0x1...as I had previously fully resetted the mobile status with Triangle Away, while it was running on 4.1.2), and I would really like to go back to the OS 4.1.2, get rid of the knos issue, and wait directly for the 4.4 (whenever it will arrive)
Is it possible?
Baseband: N7100XXUEMJ9
Build version: JSS15J.N7100XXUEMK9
Thanks in advance!
KK 4.4.2 is already leaked and therefore no reason to go back again. First custom rom is in successful testing and the official update not far away

Androidwizzard said it already. The official 4.4.X is not far away. You should live with 4.3 till the official 4.4.X arrives. It will be much better than 4.3
First thing you will encounter when downgrading is losing your IMEI,hence no service, and that's a pain in the arse to restore it back.

I totally agree with what Androidwizzard said that 4.4.2 is very smooth with even lower memory usage! Try it at least once and I believe you will love it at all!

Gentlemen,
Thank you all.
Considering all the issues, I will keep the 4.3 till the new version arrives!
Thank you again!

You should try new DN3 Rom V4 beta...
Just like you, I wanted to switch back to 4.1.2, for battery life and stability because none of 15-20 custom roms on 4.3 that I've tried fit my criteria.
So, I thought I'll try a new beta version of DN3 rom, just to see what's new...
Visually, not much has changed, just a bit faster and smother... Since this was the beta version, I knew I'll have to flash the final release pretty soon, so I started to mess with the rom, deleting unwanted stuff like (Samsung apps, account sync, S pen futures that I don't use, google packages that always run in the backgroung tracking locations etc...) Removed 50+ bloatware/system apps using 2 different tutorial that I found here on XDA...
I was expecting the phone to die after all that, as there isn't much left on it Instead I got a huge improvement in battery life and performance. For the first time, the battery lasts two days! Ram usage is only 500-550MB as opposed to 1000-1.2GB average on previous DN3 builds. Left the phone with 51% woke up 7 hours later - still 51%. All the futures like screen mirroring and syncing with my google account are working flawlessly, no reboots, no FCs, everything seems to be very stable, I even did a full backup of this rom (which I never do unless the Rom 100% perfect)
I encourage to try it and you'll never miss 4.1.2
Are we expecting any updates soon or the 5.0.1/2 update to fix the bugs that were, presumably, introduced with 5.0?
For instance, the Pebble watch disconnecting constantly. Seems perfect on my M7 with 5.0.2.
Really hope this is done quickly, as it's pretty much unusable right now.
No one knows when 5.0.1 will come, but keeping in mind that 5.1 will be released later this month I guess there's chance that Sammy might go crazy and skip 5.0.1/2 altogether and jump directly to 5.1!
If you want this topic as some request kind then its better to create it in sammobile.
Thanks for the reply.
I just hope Samsung can push through some small bugfix update then in regards to the bluetooth then. It's a big shame I can't really use the Pebble anymore.
Just what I wanted to post. The lollipop update has been an nightmare for my Pebble watch. And I'm sure it's the phones software fault.
I still have not done a complete wipe using Odin, only upgraded, keeping my apps but I'm not convinced that would help.
One weird thing I noticed is that while I was on the N9005 Russian leak (the system nandroid) the Pebble/Note connection was much more stable... Could it be that Odin doesn't set some permissions correctly while flashing the system partition?
I'm thinking of doing a full wipe/repartition using Odin and the latest Polish update, or trying some touchwiz based rom, can someone recommend any good ones I should try out?

Hello
May I direct you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-official-5-0-firmware-galaxy-t3029557/page79
dariox provided this workaround, which has been working very well for me and keeping my Pebble connected.
"Download BlueTooth auto connect (UniqTec developer)
Set:
"set last device" Flag
Profiles : select all
devices : select your device, and flag in the options "healt hdp" in case of smartband ecc...
Set flag on : Bluetooth on
Device Disconnected
Device Connected"
Unfortunately, it seems to come at the cost of a constant wakelock, and battery drain, but at the moment we don't really have any other choice apart from rolling back to kitkat, getting a new phone, or stop using the Pebble.
Hope this helps.
It's Lollipop's fault, I had the same problem when I upgraded, both the early version and the official version had the same result.
I downgraded back down to KitKat and it's fine now.
Hi,
I own a Galaxy E700M, from Brazil and it run KitKat 4.4.4 until a few days ago. Then, I recieved a OTA updade notification and did everything necessary to install it - I was dying for this Lollipop update, every day seaching for some hint it would come out soon for my country...
So, after the upgrade, everything was working well but custom fonts. When on KitKat, I used iFont and HiFont, and never had such problems, but now, neither of them work, nor any other FlipFont app or font pack app available on Google Play Store. Note here, I do not have any problems with installing the fonts, the problem appears when I try to choose one to apply on my phone. It displays a message "Font not supported. Contact Font Provider. Unistall this font?"
Has any one in the community had such issues?
[I know this is no biiiig problem, like bricked phones or likewise, but this bothers me so much. My phone is brand new, has no root, not even one "unauthorized" change, and I do not intend to make any change soon, as well. But font changing is the only option for personalization I have for now, and I want to know if anybody knows some way to fix it, or to install custom fonts in any other way. It may as well be a problem for somebody else out there on the internet ]
Please, someone help me
Yes, third party font apps won't work after update, the only way you can change your font is from Samsung store!!
OR
ROOT!!! But it seems you are not interested in rooting your device, if you are Interested go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-4/development/1000-font-pack-tab-4-lollipop-kitkat-t3155146, 1000 fonts in one file!!! Cheers! ?
This is horrible!!! ?? I saw some people complaining that even the font apps on Galaxy App Store didn't work ?? so I don't think I will pay for it... I'm very disappointed with my long-waited-update ???
Thanks, anyway...

Yep, today XAR firmware update for kitkat us been released. It has updates and patches to fix known bugs and issues as of 02/17.
It is the most stable and secure kitkat available for our wifi note 8.0.
I am downloading now, but will be waiting for the BTU UK variant to be released, as it may have even later updates, and already set fir 13 channel wifi. Yep I be a lazy base - tard.

FYI - I am based in the UK and my Note 8.0 has very surprisingly updated to 4.4.2 - first update in ages and very odd that it should be Kitkat and not something more up to date.
IMO, i am happy with each update of kitkat. Since the end of jelly bean, google has bollocks upped with each version.
Finally after a few years trying to get kitkat just right, I am able to. Now with the latest update, I am sure the few issues I still deal with will be corrected and finally have a smooth kitkat.
Can't say that for LP, MM, and New-guts. New is not better IMO if it is wonky and filled with security flaws. Plus I don't see any improvement across the board over kitkat. Kinda like do peeps like dealing with cheeky google? I just don't understand them, as much as they don't understand me. HA!
I didn't think about how long these file hosts take... so I recommend to use SamFirm to download your firmware. It is fairly new, and I suggest searching online for sites to assist with setup and function before finding a download. That is why i do not have a link or have posted a download attachment.
Small list of still active vulnerabilites after being fully tested.
Media server, Serialization, and stock browser.
I assume we may see another release of updated kitkat firmware late next year.
It does not bother me, having only two issues active. As for stock browser, who uses it anyway? I don't!
Why are you so happy with a 4.4.2 release of kit kat? Our Note 8.0's could easily handle Nougat...Right? So... help me understand, Why I with an ATT sgh-i467 should be content with my update, but not upgrade to something more.

If you're really dependant on your Note 8, you could upgrade to a Tab A with S Pen. These are currently running 6.0.1. I doubt it'll get Nougat, but maybe Samsung will release the S3 in a 8" form factor...

Because It works, no issues, and not effected by security issues since LP.
Also I have customised my 4.4.2 to be more robust like a tab 4, without relying on a customized build with issues.
So far I am the only one with a truly functional customised firmware that I am happy with.

I can't due to limits placed by ROM developers. As i had to mix 5 different ROMs to obtain what I have.
You can get a nice look by using the system ui. Though to get chrome to close when its tab closes, stock S5 libs have chrome customisations lib and some chrome cast drivers.
Plus some system apps to make gallery more robust.
I gave up on spen menu, as it did not bring much versatility since I removed stock browser because of it being unsecured with malicious scripts, and scrap book with smart clip just eat too much resources for what they are.
Can't remember which ROM I grabbed a cool one off flashbarservice app. The drawer is like the jelly bean version with a pull out tab and single row. Plus the short cuts are mini.
Using the tab 4 touchwiz and keyboard (that has left and right cursor control), though you loose automatic handwriting mode when spen is detached. It now becomes manually switched with the settings key.
I swapped out a secsettings app to allow access to default applications, as Samsung killed it in 4.4.2 for Note 8.0.
I enabled color blind, interaction control, grey scale, and accessibility shortcut menu. Though I can't have the shortcut menu activate or deactivate without a reboot.
Though the i467 has the features in the stock ROM, so obtaining the latest AT&T ROM, you can copy the system apps to allow some cool accessibility features developers over looked.
If I had permissions to allow copying and distributing custom apps and a few custom libs, i would as a complete ROM. But that is only half of it. I am not an android developer, and have no tools to properly create a flashable ROM to distribute.
Hello,
I would like please to upgrade my advent tegra note 7 from kitkat to lollipop.
Iam actually on Kitkat 4.4.2, i really don't know how to begin. I maked different research but i didn't find clear toturials on that subject, only ressources files like OTA, firmware ,Rom ..etc but i don't know how to use these files .
Please if someone can help me on that , iam open for all solutions ..
I have a file named "Stock-5.1-3.0-TegraNote7" and i think it's to main file i need to upgrade to lollipop , but i don't know how to use it .
Thank you !!
Why can't you OTA upgrade? Also, there have been many issues with 5.1 and you loose the built in screen casting as well as the power controls. If 4.4.2 works good then don't bother upgrading, at least not to the stock 5.1.
A bit late in the day but.....DON'T DO IT!
I did much to my regret a few years back and, if you did and like me consigned it to the back of a drawer... or the attic.. Fear not.
Dig it out the drawer and do this;
