If you ask about something obscure or esoteric, a link or details would help. You shouldn't assume that everyone will Google for you, trying to figure out what a Gionee mobile is.
Never heard of it, whatever it is.

Google suggests that Gionee is the name of a S5 clone sold in India. One claiming to be better than the original.
Let's see.. running Jelly bean.. less bands.. less pixels.. smaller battery.. but it has a Cricket app, so it's all good, I guess. Oh, how do we count the ways?

samsung 5
Ok no problem at all. I thought some one will help me out but here no one knows about the gionee. Anyways thanks for the reply.

Which gionee model do you mean? We are not psychic
I don't think many here will be familiar with the Gionee clone. If anyone is, perhaps they will still post their thoughts.
It's an attractive phone in appearence, but the specs are inferior in many ways to the S5. It won't have the support or easy access to custom ROMs that the S5 enjoys. And we don't know how reliable it will be. If you buy the clone, you trade off a known good design that is well supported for a lot of unknowns.
If you favour the Gionee though for whatever reasons, go ahead and buy it. It's your money after all. It just doesn't make sense or appeal to me.

Can some of our Asian friends like @GTARaja spread the kernel in Indian and Chinese forums? There is way more people and skilled developers with this phone there than anywhere in the world, wich I think do not have the kernel yet.
Maybe you @burakgon can post it on Donanim forum as well? Or anyone else that can write in Turkish.
This would be a great help to every GiONEE E7 owner. Thanks in advance!

Hello friend ive contacted few devs from nexus 5 forums and other to build a custom rom for us...just waiting for their reply..
Thanks GTARaja. Hope now there is no stopping for our device development! I hope once burakgon posts flash tools, it would be as easy as pie to flash custom ROMs without fearing of how to bring device back to life or stock if the need arises.
I really wonder why mobile tech sites like GSMArena or others not posting much about Gionee phones? They doing that with other new vendors like Oppo, OnePlus etc. but not Gionee in particular. Hope they can post this news for maximum exposure to most readers and devs.

yeah gionee seems a newbie in mobile market and few ppl are interested in this brand..as gsmarena focuses on post which most ppl like..they only post about other devices...may be some day they will realize about gionee devices
Wrong thread I know, just that my device isn't even listed yet.
I know it just released but any signs of custom ROM's for the Gionee x1 ?
Any help is appreciated.
Links, even projects under development.
Plis, I really can't take the UI anymore ?
80 views and no comment ?
Come on
If you can manage to root your phone then that is a good start. But don't bother with gionee. Next time buy a better phone.
Well ****
how did you rooted your gionee x1...

Hi everybody from a very cold Sweden. Enjoying my Mi A1 very much but.. Still feel like its lacking some of the fun stuff usually found in xiaomi devices and many chinese phones in particular. Anyway, if I get some free time in between all the exams I was thinking about porting my first rom and wondering. Which one does the overall users here like the most? Thinking mainly about MIUI or Flyme, with so many AOSP, CAF and LOS flavours already available:silly: No Eta or anything just a fun project to develop my skills and hopefully get something useful too :good::highfive:
You can try porting MIUI. Many people want it (I'm not one of them). Most other Chinese ROMs are just ****.
Why didnt you bought mi 5x? People are confuse sometime. You buy an Android One phone and you want MIUI or Flyme? Had to laugh for not cry.

Calm down, the OP wants to port a ROM and he is asking us which one he should port. This is just like the development of any other ROM. Also, people buy Android One devices not just because of the silly monthly patches, but for the development. Many consider this project as the successor to the Nexus series.
From next time, read the post properly before jumping on anyone like that.
And how you gonna do that Xiaomi didn't released full kernel source for that device they're jerking us. no wonder why people install custom ROM on their devices. But here on XDA someone creating and backporting the kernel maybe that gonna help for the devs

No, no and no. The logic is: Android One, Aosp, Los and customs based on this, makes sense, because, here, we have stock Android and nearly this. But, Miui, Flyme, super modified system, no sense. Simple as that. If you want: Miui, buy mi 5x; Flyme, meizu.

I understand your point, but shouldn't it be a personal decision to make a ROM or not? The OP wants to try to port a ROM so it his own wish. If he is successful in porting the ROM, he will share it and others who want to try it can try it.
It is really a personal opinion which ROM a person wants to try. I personally am satisfied with the stock ROM and will try the other ROMs once they are stable.
Now coming to Mi 5X, it lacks many LTE bands which makes it useless in some countries like India.

There you go! You have your answer there itself. That dude you are talking about wanted OnePlus's hardware and the software of his choice. That is the point of 'Custom ROMs'. (Get it? CUSTOM ROMs)

Patchrom on top of Lineage os was the plan. I feel like that would be the best choice. Nowadays also the custom roms are actually really stable for our mi a1 :highfive:

And useless in Sweden too obviously as B20 is THE most needed band for data across all carriers. Anyway, a device needs diversity in development either way.
Coming back to OPs initial question, I keep seeing several people on several Forums (including XDA) asking for MIUI on the MiA1, so this might be interesting.
I am quite happy with the original android one Interface, but still would give a ported MIUI a try if it would be stable enough to not brick my device.
And now let me drop a few words commenting on the above discussion:
As I already mentioned the request for MIUI on the MiA1 is present on several forums and on the most requests of that kind there are (imho) a lot of useless dicussions ongoing from people who try to blame the ones who would like to have MIUI on MiA1 how stupid/useless/etc./etc. this is!
Same thing started here from @Tiago A explaining why porting MIUI to the MiA1 is not logic...
I personally rate such posts as spam because they only serve to downplay others and to show yourself as better/smarter/etc. !
This Forum is all about customization and tweaking our devices to do things they were not intended to do from manufacturer side.... so if the OP has the will/time/knowledge to port MIUI/Flyme/Touchwiz/colorOS or whatever else for the MiA1, this is exactly what this forum is the place to share and there is no need to blame anyone who want to contribute to that!
Thanks and I completely agreed @unbeteiligter

According to comments from moderators, there will be no forum or independent thread, until we reach the 3 pages with information or posts
Incredible phone for the price. Shame XDA is not becoming the central sharing platform it was for phones I used in the past.
Partly because of that a very efficient community on telegram!!! Just took for Lenovo Z6 pro group on the app. We are already 300 members, and lots is going on there.
How to get 3 page and where
If we had a big community, it would be easy, but we don't have it... I thought this phone would be a best seller, 230 € for a sd855... It was a miracle, but now, i'm looking to sell it, :/ no updates, always bugs, can't use some features, and i think it has a lot of backdoors, seriously , when it will sold, ill try the poco 2

Here is the Lenovo Z6 Pro Forum link with many custom roms : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-z6-pro
There is also a big community in Telegram : https://t.me/LenovoZ6ProChat
And one last advice : don't sell your Z6 Pro because the best is yet to come
Do as you wish my friend.
But you totally missed the fact that despite the community being small, it is great !
We now have many great 100% stable custom roms.
For the price this is a GREAT phone and even better with roms like RevengeOS or Havoc only to mention 2.
Good luck with your sale.

I know this questions likely been asked before but I couldn't find it and it likely would be outdated. I recently picked back up my Note 3 (Note 8 exynos user) discovering some guy had a custom rom that loaded Android 10 onto it. I love the look of the Note 3 and want to repurpose it. Just for video calls and google maps via tethering. Anyways, what's the best rom in terms of efficency, features, use, on screen time, UI and more?
To answer my own question I have concluded Havoc OS is the best as its official and works with Google Pay, I was also able to use my IR Blaster with no issues shich wouldn't work on Paranoid Android or Lineage. Also being unofficial meant the lack of support when having issues was non existent. So if you want my recommendation go Havoc, Im sure most are aware as it has far more downloads than the others.
Can you guys really not stop this nonsense questions? Jeez, there is no best rom no best kernel, everything is personal flavor.
Stop demotivating good devs! Just flash the roms and try them out like it should be done.

For one I'm new to this forum, secondly I'm asking for personal opinions on which rom has the best usability in each different areas of mobile usage. If a developer actually gets demotivated because their rom isn't named best rom or 2020 then they're highly insecure and instead should look on working harder to improve what they're working on. There is nothing wrong about having a personal preference and that is what I'm asking for, PREFERENCE. You could like the absolute worst rom if you justify what's good about it.
OP there are only about 3 roms current nothing to stop you trying each via Nandroid .
As for EXYNOS probably even less see exynos development .
Personal opinion stock rom .

Yeah, Ive not got the battery to 100% confirm if its exynos but since my region is exynos I'm assuming it also is. Thanks for leading me to the right place.
EDIT: So I googled my device, sm-n9005 which of course is the 4G version and says it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800. Though I'll just check the phone itself when I get a replacement battery tomorrow, thanks again.
