Alright I am sorry if this is a stupid question but I really need help, I live where there is almost no service. We use a Microcell and I basically rely on wifi for updating and downloading apps. My Galaxy s4 was rooted with casual and every time I try to download an app or update it gives me an error number which I have googled. I followed one guys steps which basically sent my phone in a frenzy he said to force stop play store delete cache and data then do the same with google services framework. Then if that didn't work to uninstall updates to playstore which I did. After I attempted this my playstore would keep blacking out and I would get a message that the google play store suddenly stopped. Even after I restarted my phone it did the same thing. This would be on all screens so I couldn't do hardly anything because that popup would keep showing up, even after the restart. So I did a factory reset and lost all my apps which I knew would happen but I didn't know what else to do. After the reset my playstore updated its self but it's still not downloading apps from wifi. If I use data it will though. Could this have to do with my ISP or is it a google play store issue? My other family members who have android phones are having the same issue. Also my ISP is currently having issues with youtube don't know if that could be a clue since both our owned by google. If there is a mod I could do since my phone is rooted to fix this let me know. Sorry for the long question just disheartening to go through all this work and still can't download or update apps from wifi.
Do you have any adblock apps installed?
I do not, and neither does any of my family members. I think it may be some firewall that time warner has put up because playstore, youtube and when I was working on my website with wordpress, it wasn't working either.

Hi guys, I am having a problem with downloading apps through cellular data on my mytouch 4g. I can download them fine if I am on wifi but it gets stuck on "starting download" progress bar without it. I've tried clearing the data for the market app, restoring it back to factory, and the google talk sign in; none of these worked for me. This is driving me crazy and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Update: Fixed nvm
How did you fix it?
yeah how you fixed it would be nice as mine is doing the same thing... ugh wish t-mo could have just brought a legit phone out
Turn On Wifi
Even if there is no wifi connection, on my MT4G the wifi has to be enabled for the market to download.
I think this may be fixed on the new update that came out today. I still haven't seen my update yet. :-( mine still does this too.

Go into settings/wireless networks/mobile network or operator and select Tmobile network. Even it is checked select it and make sure your phone is gsm/wcdma checked. WCDMA only created problem for me. Also if you have temp root you will not get the update as long as it is running on your phone. In addition, if you disabled any bloatware you have to restore it before the update. Once I disabled Visionary and restored back to factory I got the update in a couple of hours.
This is a really weird problem but it has to do something with the connection to the google servers (mainly google talk). This is evident by the fact that you are signed off and can not connect to google talk when you're stuck on the starting download phase of downloading the app(s). There are two ways around this problem that I've seen so far
1. Before you want to download an app, run google talk and make sure you're signed in, then sign out and sign in again. Go download the app(s) afterwards. Once you do this after you first power on the phone, it should last until you power it off.
2. Another way is go and try to download an app(s) you want and it will be stuck on the starting download bar. DO NOT cancel the download, just restart the phone and it should start downloading once the phone is back on.
P.S. The update did not fix this issue because I still have to deal with it.
If I learn anything new, I will keep you posted.

I got the update with Superuser and root just fine.
Not to rub it in, but I'm really glad that I am not experiencing this problem. I'm liking the phone too much to have a reason to bring it back!
Ok I have found out that the Google talk sign out sign in trick does not always work while the restarting one always works. It definitely is something to do the Google servers and the way the phone syncs with them. What I found interesting is that when you open the market app, immediately experience this problem as you can not sync under accounts settings and services like Google talk stop working. Another thing is that it seems to be the HSPA and HSPA+ connections causing the issue, the apps won't dl on them but it will start immediately as your phone drops to edge. I don't know if this is a hardware, software issue with the phone or the Google servers getting adjusted to the mytouch 4gs since they just came out.
Think I'm going to exchange my phone since not a lot of people have this problem.
Sorry to bring up an old thread but i'm now having this issue aswell. I've tried to clear data, can't download on Wifi or 3g. When i click ok it just says the download will be started and nothing happens, Sometimes if i play around i can get it to go to say starting download but just sits there then i will get either a network error to retry or cancel. Sometimes it's just a download unsuccessful and i click ok.
I tried resetting aswell and still same issue. Not sure how to sign out of google talk.. haven't quit got the hang of android yet but i'm actually not happy right now!
WTH is going on!? The last 2 weeks Market has been flaky at best. I click to update/download something and it just hangs. Come back to it hours later and the program I clicked on 3 hours ago is finally installed.
I'm on stock, rooted with 1 click. Anyone else seeing this problem?
I posed this earlier in IRC. what I do is sign in and out of Google Talk. Seems to clear it up.
Google talk is pre-installed on your phone. The app is called talk.

I can sign out of Google talk but I can sign back in. I reboot the phone and still have the same issue. I've been having this issue for the past week so something makes me thing it's the market/sprint.

Ok, to me, you just confirmed that it's a Sprint/Google connection issue. A few people in the Evo forum are having the same problems. Some people weren't even rooted and were having the same problems.
It seems to affect all google apps including Market, Gtalk, Gmail, etc. The apps seem to hang or give me a server error. My problems just started last night and I too am rooted. Luckily, like I said before, it seems to affect rooted and unrooted users.
I called up Sprint and they wanted me to do a hard reset (of course), but I refuse to since these seem like bigger problems, and they probably can't be solved on the phone level, but rather on the network level.
Hopefully they can find the problem soon!
Great, now I can't login to talk or use the market.
I rebooted a couple times and it worked for a couple mins, then stopped again. I'm gonna go with this is a Google problem, doesn't work when I use wifi either.
Fix for Wifi issues with Samsung Epic
So ever since I rooted my phone I've had issues with wifi for use with anything such as the market, web browser, sms, you name it.
Found that there is a file that is easily corruptible and can easily be fixed thankfully with a free app from the market called Android Mate.
You'll have to have your phone rooted and then navigate to the phones base directory then go here: /data/wifi/ and delete this file: bcm_supp.conf
Android Mate seems to have issues with navigating the base folder (root directory) so for me I went to the data folder and had to manually type in /wifi and it pulled up the bcm_Supp.comf file and I deleted it and rebooted my phone and presto no more issues.
Hope this helps a few people
I am unrooted and am having the exact same problem. Both with market and gmail. I can't even get emails half the time or hardly ever even see the apps I've downloaded in market! Very frustrating!

Someone at Howard Forums reported they can't even get to sites like google.com and Gmail from their laptop when connected to the internet via their Sprint data card.
Today, Google Talk FC's for me every time I try to start it.
I've got the A2017U with the stock Nougat update. Unlocked bootloader, but not rooted. I got through the Verizon quirks, and seem to have voice and data connected again. Doesn't look like I'm connected to LTE though. Phone information only shows CDMA/EVDO information, and Voice Network is 1xRTT.
I can get by with that for now. My main concern is that I'm having trouble in the Play Store. Background app updates seem to be working, but when I manually try to update, or install a new application, I get Waiting for Network.
I tried clearing data and cache from the Play Store and Download Manager applications. That didn't help. I disabled the Play Store, and it reverts back to what they call the "factory version". I can then quickly update or get an application before the Play Store updates itself which gives me that error again.
I saw a thread on this on a Sprint message board from a few years ago, but the solution was to wait for an update sent from Sprint.
Anyone else see this issue?
Thanks,
Paul
I just started seeing this today. No idea what caused it. I tried installing a new app over 4G and it got stuck on "Waiting for network" even though I was connected to the internet with browsing, Inbox, Hangouts and Whatsapp all working fine. I connected to wifi and same issue. Cleared cache and data, rebooted and same issue on both 4G/wifi.
Thanks for your suggestion about disabling and enabling as I now have my new app installed and other apps updated.
Recently I've noticed some bugs with the 7.1.1 update relating to mobile data. Stops working randomly and the signal icon keeps losing the "4G LTE" portion even if I'm connected.

I have the same problem which I noticed this morning. Tried all suggestion about clearing data, cache, etc. but nothing worked. Hoping someone has a fix.
I am having this problem as well. Thought it had to do with me switching carriers today but apparently not. Hopefully a fix is released soon.
I'm also having this issue today. I'm on Verizon. Everything else seems to work. But, even on WiFi I can't get anything from the play store.
Edit:. Disabling the play store and then renabling it (reverting back to previous version) fixed the issue for now.
I just came here to post the same question?? Just noticed it about 30 minutes ago.
[EDIT] I disabled and rolled back to the previous version, still didn't work for me. I also updated to the newest one (from March 6th) I found here on XDA, still didn't work.
Disabling and reverting the Play Store worked for me. Stock install on Cricket running 7.1.1 in the USA.
It started working again about an hour ago?
[UPDATE]
Woke up this morning, not working again.
I've rolled back, tried other versions, nothing works for me.
still same on me. tried wipe data, deactivate and activate bla bla. still same.
Go on your mobile to apps and then google play store, then choose uninstall updates, it will revert back to the old app store, and then it should work again.
Been having this SAME as exact problem since Nougat. My phone is completely STOCK though.
Everything I've tried is just a temporary fix. after play store updates automatically the problem happens again and I can't download anything. Updates happen randomly when my phone is sleep.
Very annoying
Got the same problem here in Thailand with the G model.
Revert the play market to inițial version and all will be ok. This problem îs from Google

That worked for a while, but trying again this morning has no effect.

Also the problem is not happening on other phones in my same local network. The problem is specific to the Axon 7 (well I guess possibly others too, but not other phones I have.)

OK based on some information in a similar thread on the ZTE forums, I think the deal is this: going (via Settings - Apps) to the Google Play app, and then clicking the upper-right "three dot" menu to get the "Uninstall Updates" option allows you to revert back to an older revision (7.2.13). That revision works.
The problem is that, in the background, something really wants to keep the Play app up to date. If you're not quick enough to get it open and start downloading, you'll be back to the bad update.
Same issue "Waiting for network" hit my A7 last night out of the blue. On AT&T network. All other Android devices in house use GP Store with no issues. Been on Nougat since day one with pretty much no issues.
No idea why this happened. Quite frustrating.
Have you tried going to Settings/Apps, select Google Play Store, go to Storage (or similar, I have a non-english phone) and clear the cache there? This solved the same issue on my phone. It's strange that clearing the cache didn't help in other instances.
I started running into this last night with my Azon 7, too. Stock 7.1.1, T-Mobile, also tried on wifi. Clearing the Play store cache didn't help. Uninstalling updates for the Play store works briefly, then I get the same error (presumably because the updates to the store have reinstalled), and I have to uninstall Play store updates again to update again.
I've tried the cache trick, the uninstall tricks, nothing works long term. I'm stumped as to why we all started seeing this happen around the same time. What changed to trigger it??
I received my phone a few days ago brand new, updated the firmware to 21s, and experienced an overheating issue so I thought doing a factory reset may help before trying to return it possibly for a new one.
However, once I reset the phone, I cant seem to get my google account to sync properly anymore.
The play store doesnt show any of my installed apps and doesnt show that any of my apps need updates either, though if I manually search for the app in the store, it will allow me to update it that way. Syncing my google apps like mail etc seem to be very slow, and I usually have to manually refresh to get new mail.
The biggest issue though is the play store is trying to charge me for every app Ive ever purchased. If I go into settings then purchase history in the play store app, I can see the list of all the apps Ive ever purchased and what I paid for them. When I click the view link which takes me to that app, its showing full price and tries to get me to pay for it. The only workaround I have found is going to the website store, and choosing to manually download the paid app to the phone which seems to work.
Ive tried everything I can think of to fix this. I made sure the google play store and google play services had the latest version. Ive gone into all the google apps and cleared the data and rebooted. Ive tried removing my google account from the phone settings and Ive factory reset my phone three more times and the issue persists.
I have contacted Google support multiple times over 4 -5 hours yesterday which was a nightmare and the reps are extremely unhelpful trying to tell me I must be doing something wrong like logging in with a different account or that the problem lies with the developers of the apps and I need to contact them directly (like I need to contact 100 different app developers to see why theyre trying to charge me for apps again...?) Ive tried telling them I can still access all my paid apps on my old phone and the web browser shows all my purchases as well.
The only thing I can think of is some Google config file or something is remaining on the phone between factory resets which is causing the phone not to connect fully with Google services. The phone isnt rooted, I didnt want to do that in case I had to return the phone due to the overheat issue I had.
Anyone have any possible idea what is causing this? Prior to doing the first factory reset, all my google services worked fine. It was only after doing the first reset I ran into this issue and Google has no clue whats going on and it doesnt help the reps that contact me usually reply with general troubleshooting that has nothing to do with my issue
The paid apps now showing up as paid was definitely a bug i encountered when I first got the phone. I don't quite remember how I solved it. I think I may have just uninstalled/reinstalled google play services and rebooted a few times. After a few hours, every app was showing up properly. I wouldn't bother contacting the app devs or google again, it's definitely something that can be solved by messing with the phone.
I believe the cause of this was the version of the Google play store. It happened to me the first time I set the phone up. I've sideloaded a newer version of the play store and then it behaves like normal.
Is anyone else with a T-Mob 6T have an issue with dialing out calls? Phone got a small OTA and updated the SYSTEM Phone app from the play store and then just broke. Can't swipe to contacts from inside the app, causes it to crash and crash and force stop. Thank God have Google contacts on as a backup. But even from dialing out from Google contacts it takes up to 7 tries to get a call to actually dial. Typically I need to do a full power down and up to get a call to go out. I have no mods yet on the phone, just unlocked from T-Mob I didn't even flash my unlock token yet since this began. Was going to this past weekend until this happened and I wanted to make sure I had no issues before going forward with twrp and magisk. First time poster been waiting a long time to finally get my feet wet here, probably won't answer until am EST since I have work early.
Thank you and hope this post wasn't a big ramble.
It's fixed. No OTA update from T-Mobile. Guessing it was on Google's end. Clear Play Store cache/data. I can confirm now through SafetyNet Test, the 6T passed. Yesterday it did not, and clearing the cache/data did not work. Today it does. I'm getting app updates now as I type.

Ok well calling is working so far but still crashes when I swipe to contacts. Tried clearing all caches also. Weird stuff and my phone passes safetynet. Will update if I can find a work around or a way to make it work again.
Try uninstalling the built-in Visual Voicemail app and installing the one from the Play Store. Someone reported that cured their phone app crash issue.
