Can someone please extract their Lg g2 GALLERY apk AND odex? I deleted mine because I didn't like using it (actually preferred photos) and now I can't go to pictures from the camera app or save images to photos. This thread does not help me because every time I try to extract it using ANYTHING I get an error message, both on my phone and the computer. All I need is the stock gallery apk and odex.
HUGE THANKS
try extracting those files with total commander...
winrar also gives me errors, but extracting the files with total commander works without a problem

I have them extracted now. Thanks! Only thing now is I have to get it to install. My phone won't install it. I even tried to install it through adb. Fail.

Place them in the system/priv-app and add the rw-r--r-- permissions then reboot and you should have the gallery installed

That didn't work either . I may just backup my phone and reset it. I doubt that they're going to install

Yes, it never installed. First I put both files into system apps then priv-apps.. Reboot.. No install... Idk I left it alone because I figured there was nothing more that I could do. Backed up and reset my phone.

Is there no way to get system/app to r/w? Been trying every app and terminal command to let me remount so I can reinstall my backup of the messaging apk and it just doesn't work.
I use Root Explorer and have had no problem using"Mount R/W" in system/app.

Bleh. Copied to system/app, still get application not installed. Reboot with it in there and it doesn't show up either. At a loss here.

Here you go. You'll need to rename the file to delete the .zip extension.

Yep, they're set correctly
Now it's giving me the option to update or new install this system app. Problem is I don't see an already installed version obviously.
try downloading a custom rom for your cellphone, just for extracting the messaging app

have you tried to use adb to install it?
Hello all,
My device is an ls980 running rooted, stock kitkat. About a week after the ZVC update (kitkat), my Lg Gallery application stopped working. It would not open, giving me an error message saying that "gallery has stopped." So I tried an "uninstall" application from the market to uninstall the stock app, and then I attempted to restore/reinstall it again. Every attempt I have made has been unsuccessful and the app cannot be installed.
So my question is: how can I get the Lg Gallery application reinstalled and working properly?
Thank you, I appreciate anyone's help greatly.
How did you uninstall the stock gallery from the play store when it's not available on the play store and I'm sure the reason it's not installing is because the app needs to be placed in the system/priv-app folder and needs to be given the correct permissions

I uninstalled the app using a "system app uninstaller" application. The APK file is still located in my system/priv-app folder, and I have even tried installing it from there using root explorer. What permissions need to be applied?

you apply the rw-r--r-- (0644) and then reboot, the phone should say android is upgrading and it should be working again

Those permissions are already applied to the file, but the APK still refuses to install even after a full reboot.

I copied the odex file over to the priv-app folder and added the permissions, but after a reboot, the gallery still will not install.
Perhaps the file is somehow damaged?

Hmm, this is very odd. I continue to get the same error. I guess I will have to continue researching the issue for a solution.

very odd indeed maybe you should find the apk/odex for your device or maybe placing them somewhere else like system/app

I was able to get the app installed again (although it did it on its own after a reboot and some tinkering...); however, the gallery still cannot open as before.
Is there anyone out there who is still running the stock version of lg g2 24A that could pull the VerizonVVM.apk from system? I have my phone on cloudyG3 and I really don't want to have to restore all the way back to stock just for this one apk. it seems like a waste of time and internet. I just was wondering if there was anyone kind enough to take the time to do this for a fellow user.

Thanks man, now I don't want to sound dumb but when I put it in /system/app and changed the permissions to rw-r--r-- and rebooted nothing happened. Is there a specific way about installing this

You have yo install it using a PC , copy the .apk file and plug your phone using USB (as media sync) and paste the apk file right inside the download folder.
Next , unplug your phone , go to play store and install "astro file manager" then browse through the download folder inside your phone , and simply install the app.
I hope I helped
Hey, folks!!
Most of us moved to Lollipop and keep seeing many bugs and some of the Apps missing like for eg. Gallery.
Searches end me with Gallery Apps which weren't fully working. Desperated and frustrated me, finally did find one working app and thought of sharing it with others who would really be interested.
You can flash the App via Custom Recovery or can do it manually by moving the desired folder using a file manager, like Total Commander (this is what am using). Many are available based on your interest. Remember to extract the zip and move the folders to another location and then place in the respective places.
Editing Images is possible with this App if you correctly place the lib file at /system/lib
I myself have tried only the KK Gallery on N4 & N5 which is working flawlessly
http://nexus5.wonderhowto.com/how-to/get-back-gallery-app-any-nexus-device-running-lollipop-0158858/
PS: If this is outta XDA Rules then Mods can remove the thread.
Folks, am just sharing so everyone can make use of what is required.
I want to use the motorola gallery. It looks nice. But what lib file should I place in /system/lib? It isn't in the flashable zip...

Motorola Gallery may not have the lib file. Haven't checked it but did the KK Gallery. Editing is supported only in KK Gallery according to the post
So I tried the flashablr zip, but after installinh nothing changed? No gallery app popped up. I looked in the /system/app/ folder and I found the .apk l. Do you know how I can fix this?

Which one did you try? Have checked KK Gallery on N4 & N5 and its working without any flaws. On N4, used the Flashable zip and on N5, i installed manually (both running Lollipo 5.0.1)

Yes I am on stock 5.0.1. Rooted it and installed TWRP. Tried that zip and several others but none of them worked. Also created a flashable zip myself. But that didnt work either...
By flashing it, the app comes in the /system/app folder but doen't appaer in the app drawer and trying to copy it manually ends up in an error (see attachments).
I guess I will be re-flashing factory images and see if it works after that.

You tried copy both files to system\priv-app? The files permissions are rigth(rw-r-r)? Did you clean caches?
