you can not just load G3 firmware on a G2 device.
This is what you will need to do to get it or use a rom like it;

Gabriel using Cloudys ROM atm, but wanted a way to make MMS work with stock messaging.

Sorry if I sound like a total noob here, but is there any way to remove TWRP without flashing the stock firmware? I came from a DROID RAZR, which had safestrap, where we could remove custom recovery at will with that app on the phone. Can ADB remove TWRP similarly as to how it put it there? Thanks for the help.

Wow, this got buried fast. Can someone just say "no" if that is the answer?

Why do you want to remove it? Do you want to flash CWM? If so you can flash CWM over the top using Flashify.
The main reason would be to receive an update from LG like when the release the 4.4 builds.

I used flashify to make a backup of the stock recovery and then flashed TWRP. If you haven't already flashed TWRP look into making a backup of stock.
However, though those of use rooted LG G2 users may not be able to update over the air, we should be able to use our computers and USB connection to manually install the 4.4 release at some point after the 4.4 update goes live. I'm new to LG - long time Galaxy owner - so maybe I'm wrong about that and someone with more LG experience can correct me.
I haven't had an LG phone before either, so I don't know. Can someone who has had an LG phone before please enlighten me/us as to how you would go about applying LG updates when you have a custom recovery? That's where this question really came from.

Do you know if the recovery is universal across non-verizon devices?
If so, would you mind posting a flashable version of yours? I'm a bonehead and flashed twrp before backing up my original...

I don't know if the recoveries are universal - would be reluctant to share my AT&T with you and find you messed up your phone trying to restore. You might want to post this request in a separate thread.
My screen is being buggy, so Verizon is going to send me a replacement. Two questions:
1) How to I return to stock? I'm on XDABBEB's VS98024A v1.1.1 and want to flash stock. How do I do this?
2) When I get the new phone, it'll probably be 24A already. Is there an exploit yet for unlocking?
thanks!
Have you looked at this?

I believe ioroot27 will get you root on 24a, but I haven't tried. I too am on xdabbeb's 1.1.1 and fortunately haven't encountered the need to change.

I used the TOT method to get my VS980 back to stock. Worked like a charm. Unrooted and everything.

I'm having the damndest time getting the drivers to install on my Win 7 pro box. Never had this issue before, but when I hit download mode, even if I point device manager directly at the driver files, it won't install. Ugh.
I'm using the TOT method which I've used previously.
Any tips guys?
UPDATE: Weirdly, worked on my Win 8.1 machine at home after failing on my Win 7 box at work. Either way, resolved! TOT worked great! Thanks XDA!

Hello, the ROM I recommend you use is CyanogenMod 11, I'm using this ROM right now on my LG G2, and I love the performance and numerous customizations you can do with it.[emoji4][emoji4][emoji4], what's your variant of the LG G2?

G2 d802 32gb.
Heard a lot about CM. sound good, I think I will give it a try.
Thank you my friend.

No problem [emoji4], the knock on gesture will still exist on the LG G2 running CyanogenMod 11, you'll just have to knock on the status bar to lock your phone, and you can knock on your screen to turn your phone back on again, make sure you backup your Stock LG ROM using TWRP before you continue to install the ROM, and download the latest Gapps(Google Apps) for the Rom.[emoji4][emoji4]
Good Luck[emoji106][emoji106]

Hey guys,
As the title says just got a new VS980 and it is running 26a and has a LGD display. I have rooted it no problem. Now I am trying to decide what to flash. On my old SGS i was using CM11 and I wanted to try PA but seeing as a new phone was on it's was, i decided to wait. Now it is here and I see that CM is essentially unsupported on the VS980 and PA is starting to come back alive with Ayysir and 777jon bth doing a 4.6b2 version.
So i am now at the point where I need to flash a recovery and I was reading that before people were toasting their screens in recovery, the 777jon build had a link to a thermally governed recovery. I am unsure how to flash it. I saw AutoRec, and have it on the phone ready... but if this one i linked to is better...
Also which PA ROM are you guys using?
Thanks for your help and advice guys.
You can use AutoRec to get TWRP but I would definitely use the one you linked after you get the AutoRec version on
Which method did you use to root 26A?

I used Stump. Works fine. Sorry no link at the moment, but if you search for it, you will find it. That is how I found it.

With stump root. Did you do the brute force method?
When doing it regularly it says the device isn't supported

Yup, you have to do the brute force method. It is not supported directly, that is why you get that message. No worries man, it works fine.

Hi,
I recently attempted and failed to rom my vs980.
I installed sprint rom but was unable to get any signal and no screen rotation. I am using my vs980 in the uk on three mobile.
I then tried cloud's g3 rom and again no signal and all sorts of errors.
After half a day of messing i managed to recover to stock 4.42 and have a working g2 once again.
Im quite keen to rom my g2 but unsure if it is global mode that isnt working on roms? Is anyone using a vs980 in another part of the world? Great phone just want to make more use of it.
Thanks in advance
Regards
Reuben

Its a verizon phone, meaning you have to use a rom that's for the vs980, I'm using my vs980 from verizon on straight talk in NY right now.

enter your imei here http://lg-firmware-rom.com/
Both custom roms were supposed to be suitable for the vs980.
Just upon trying no good, i have done the imei checker and i am currently on the latest rom. Good link tho as i am unable to update ota from here on a different network, this should keep me upto date with verizon roms.
If i cant get a custom rom working is there a way to remove all the vewrizon bloatware?
