Just rooted my S5 and now want to use SETCPU to overclock, but I can't
find any information as to what the reliable speeds have been tried. Does
anyone have a reference for this...Its the Snapdragon 801 with the Krait 400.

ALL QUESTIONS GO IN THE S5 Q&A FORUM
but to answer your question, no you can not over clock the cpu because the bootloader is locked (assuming you have a att or Verizon phone). For that you need a custom kernel which we currently lack due to the locked bootloader.

If the OP's phone is TMOBILE or any of the International Verisons - they certainly can overclock the phone - what is a safe speed? I have no clue - but I do know that the Koontze Custom kernel for the S5 comes with a TWEAKER ap that also has built in profiles you can download and several of them are OC up to 2680 or something like that. I don't have much luck with that High of an OC, my phone reboots, but your Mileage may vary. I suggest you play with it to see how the phone deals with the OC _ whether it gets really hot - whether it Reboots - and so on. maybe there is a more scientifc method - but I don't know what it is - Good luck and like the prevous post suggested, next time questions should be in the QA section...good luck...

your right -and I wasn't really meaning to say anything against your post -ATT and VERIZON are the only two that are locked I beleive - Canadian Users are not locked - I don't think US Cellular is locked either = but obviously the greater number of users are on ATT and VERIZON and they have been badly effected by ATT and VERIZONs locked bootloader policies..
anyway - good luck to all -

I think undervolting will have a better effect performance wise then overclocking as the 801 is basicaly allready a overclocked 800. Undervolting gives you lower temps and thuss less throttle and better performance imo.
Let's relax with the OC. Of course everyone has a right to do as they please with their phone. Ultimately though smartphones are not computers, the change will be negligible most likely a placebo affect. These phones on custom ROMs are beyond fast enough.

Not the only one. Or two or three. You don't have to unlock the TMobile 900T bootloader, it's unlocked to start with as are the 900W8, 900F, 900H, 900I, 900K and other S5 models.
Most S5's do not have locked bootloaders. It's only ATT and the N.A. CDMA carriers that lock S5 bootloaders.

Firstly, do these phones come with any kind of branding inside that I need to carve out (was planning to root it anyway)?
Secondly, am I restricted to AT&T in the US delaying updates for it?
I assume plonking my O2 sim from my N900 in it will work, and i'll just have to setup APNs?

From what I've read there is at& t bloat on it and should just plonk SIM in, after you put in apn, if your SIM doesn't do it for you.

Yeah, there is an AT&T boot-up logo. It shuts down very quickly, so nothing much happening there.
Bloat = Bloatware, i.e. apps that you really don't need. For example, AT&T navigator or Need for Speed Shift (it's just a demo version, and I think you cannot directly upgrade since you're not on AT&T), and some other more or less useless apps. I find the task manager to actually be quite ok though. All in all, you should make your own choice about what you want to keep and what not.
Then there's MotoBlur, which I like functionally (e.g., how facebook updates are presented), but it is just so damn slow that I am wondering which half-witted developers did this.
There are threads in the development section (just read one of the sticky posts there for links) about how to remove bloatware and which to remove, how to root (use GingerBreak), and various pseudo mods that will change the theming at the cost of a more complicated update process if new firmware comes out (I use GingerBlur with some custom icons). GingerBlur, btw, removes all bloatware by default.

I think you might be in the wrong forum here. It appears that your phone has dual-core 1.5Ghz processor (but Samsung doesn't say which one), and that's something your phone shares with SGN I717. If I'm right here there's not a single Rom or kernel here that you can flash without running into pretty serious problems.
Anyone got the root?
I also got the N7005 from Hong Kong. Anyone knows how to get the phone rooted or install CWM?

I think one of these people needs to:
Install Android System Info
Tap the System tab
Expand the CPU row
Tell us what the "Hardware:" field says
For example, N7000 units report "Hardware: SMDK4210"
Well... surprise.. the Hardware: GT-N7005...

That's odd, on every other device that field reports a general board type and not specific model number - for example SMDK4210 for I9100/I777/N7000 (and probably the Tab 7 Plus and 7.7), and SMDK4X12 for I9300/N80xx/I9305/Note2 variants.
There...
Kind Sirs out there, would this help in any way? Not too much info can be found of this variant.. Would this be the international version for the Note LTE

Your device, despite having a model number far closer to GT-N7000, is more similar to the SGH-I717.
Really appreciate your help and explanation. I find it strange that I cant find much info on this variant on the internet..

I definitely want an unlocked Note II. I'd like LTE, but is it really necessary? Not sure if it's worth paying for a higher priced data plan?
What are others thinking on this?
Well, LTE is along way off in my area. I just ordered the n7100 tonight. I'm not much if a data hog and figure HSPA+ is plenty fast enough. Honestly, I'd rather have faster updates than a chance to connect to LTE. The carriers in the US are so slow to roll out anything new. Different strokes for different folks though.

Well, it's not out yet, so the ROMs here will not work on it. But, the name of this forum is 'Galaxy Note II' not 'N7100' so I assume that when the time comes, you will be able to find roms for the N7105 here.

Well, I have an N7105, and I flashed it using Odin and CWM both of which I got off this forum and it worked fine for me. Now I am just waiting for more people to get this phone so the Stock ROM can be released on this forum as well. I'd like the option to un-root it for warranty reasons. Anyways, the flashing definitely worked.

What is weird is that the top phone listed on the Bar Chart part of the AnTuTu test results is the Galaxy Note II but my test results, as you can see, came in 4 below - even below the Galaxy SIII. Anyone know any possible reasons why? Did I do the benchmark wrong? Should I have closed all my background apps and processes? I am really confused now...

Pretty good actually. With moderate to high usage (Netflix, Web searching, etc.) the Battery lasts me at around 8 - 10 hours. When it gets to about 15%, I usually just switch out the battery for the fully charged and included second battery. So far, I've never really had a problem with battery life.
I have been give some of the answer to this previously, but can not find where the answer is.
What is the difference between the three and which do I have on US Cellular?
Thanks.

Settings > About Device. That's what one you have.
The i9505 and i9505g are the same HARDWARE. The g version runs almost stock Android (but a little touchwiz in there for the S-View cover). The i9505 runs Touchwiz. It's a matter of preference. If you have touchwiz, airview etc you do not have the Google Edition.
The i9000 has 2 sets of 4 cores for power saving and is the non-international, non LTE version also running TouchWiz
For more differneces just google it and you'll find loads.

Ran a software update check this morning on my Rogers Note3, after my friend mentioned he got KitKat on his Bell S4 on the weekend. Sure enough, 400+MB update was available.
Servers were slow (both my home Wi-Fi and LTE were getting the same speed. Took about an hour to download). Install went smoothly and only took 2-3 minutes. And KitKat it is.
I'm using Nova Launcher, so the only immediately visible change is that all the icons in the status bar are plain white. Otherwise, I perused through the system settings and didn't see much that was different beyond the addition of a "Printing" option under Connections > More networks, and the odd change here and there. However, things do feel smoother and basic stuff like unlocking the device has no lag at all.

Am wondering. I am rooted with knox 0x0 on 4.4.2 using the mexican telcel rom form a cpl months back and the old modem from 4.3 mj4.
I want to get latest KK from Rogers while maintaining root. SO I cant do an update this way. Is there a way to flash just the modem and sytem files form this update ot get me to latest version of things without wiping all my data?
I'm just wondering. Why is it because Bell and Rogers note 3 gets KitKat that at&t note 3 gets KitKat? Not trying to be a smartass or anything but does one of them own the other or something?

I'm not really sure what you mean?
Bell, Rogers and Telus all use the same versions of most phones as what AT&T in the U.S. offer, as their networks share the same spectrum ranges. So when the manufacturer of a phone (Samsung) releases an OS update for an AT&T model phone, all four companies then have access to that and can tweak that update and release it to their customers when they wish. Typically (though not always) that means that all of the companies release updates to their customers around roughly the same time.

I just wonder if they actually believe people use all or any of their bloatware. if their products were in a store it would be already marked down and discontinued.
I unrooted my Rogers Note 3 with Kingo and managed to download the update file on my device. Once I began the install it failed and rebooted. Any ideas?
