First time poster here. I am working on a boot animation for the Droid X that features a clip from the 1986 animated movie of Optimus Prime blasting some Decepticons before his battle with Megatron.
Just have to fix a few things before I release it for download. I am trying to add audio but am having a problem. I have tried everything I can think of. Named the file boot.mp3 boot.ogg (changed format of course) I have placed the file in the /system/media/audio/ and /system/media/ directories.
I have edited the build.prop file. When UI do that i get like 1 second of audio after the animation is done and it brings up the lock screen.
I have looked everywhere online. there doesnt seem to be any easy solution or for that matter, any solution. I was hoping someone out there can help. I have a pretty cool boot animation I am working on.
I would like to show it to you.... but I guess my account has to be approved.

boot sound is found in /data/local directory as a mp3 file, try there
also to get ur boot sound working properly, you have to edit desc.txt in the bootanimation.zip file according to all your specification of your bootanimation, good luck on this.

I too am looking for a way to add a sound. You wouldnt happen to have a link to a post to look towards for editing the desc.txt to allow sounds would you?
Ok so just recieved my i9000 which was locked to 3 with the bootanimation
I did the Superoneclick fix and unlocked to Orange, but still have the THREE logo at startup and shutdown.
Few things I would like to know is possible :
1. Is there a way to save battery life as I seen a few posts people saying that theres settings in the 'Battery Usage' but not on mine.
2. On 2.2 Froyo (stock) just unlocked and put in root explorer, how do I remove stock ringtones and the boot animation.
As I tried to copy and paste the bootanimation over to data/local or system/media but get paste failure every time and I am on rw
3. Setup my email and gmail whats the best widget just for email and texts coming through
4. Can I change the keyboard/pad (had motorola dext/cliq before felt used to that)
Lastly, any tips or tweaks that I could do, if so can you explain please.
Thanks
The bootlogo can be fixed by instaling a new one. You may need to install a new rom that supports custom boot images as the stock system uses a proprietary system or something.
long press on a text input box and select a new input method, or you can change it in the settings. You can download many new keyboards on the market.
Widgets a pretty subjective so I'll leave that one alone

For battery life you should try Insanity ROM. It reduced my charging frequency from every day to once every two or three days
yes i heard it a lot. good mod
Ok, the paste failure I was getting was the newer root explorer for some reason so I installed an older one with no issues.
Ok as my boot animation is with 3 and now unlocked in the system/media folder I have :
audio (folder)
battery charging.qmg files
video (folder) inside that theres a shutdown folder with 3 png files (deleted them and Galaxy shuts down faster now with no animation)
Still trying to get the boot animation to change, dont really want to change the rom as it seems fast enough
I tried boot animation changer from market with no luck!
Boot animation is System / Media
BootSamsung .QMG
BootSamsungloop.QMG two files QMG format .
See themes section

Check permissions on the bootanimation.zip.
placing the file in /data/local should work.
I don't see the redraw issue you are talking about. Can you be more specific?

Sorry for my poor English - the problem is that after adding this archive to/data/local, nothing is happens.
After Acer splash screen I saw the black screen for 20 seconds and after that Android just starting.
Can anyone test that bootscreen on own device?
Make sure permissions on the bootanimation.zip is set to read/write for all.
When I get the black screen boot, that is usually the reason.

The problem is that you have zipped the files using compression, android can't read boot animation from compressed files. You have to select the method as "Store" in order to get it working.
Here's a DOS boot I made few days ago, it might be useful.
Hm, now it is working. Maybe you know any HOWTOs, where I will find information about best ways to make custom bootscreens?
Thanks for tip

Samsung Doesn't use a standard bootanimation file or zip, rather it has it in parts, look in the media folder for anything that ends with .qmg.

Yea I know how the boot animation files work on Samsung, I used to edit them all the time on the s3 but they've been moved on the note 3 to somewhere I can't find, I checked the usual places like the media folder and done a search but I can't locate the files. Thanks for trying though.

Yes as can I but not the boot animation the Samsung boot in the media folder once replaced has no effect and I have the omega boot animation running yet it's not in the media folder so where is it running from? This is what I mean I can't find the folder they run from I know some are in the media folder but when I replace them in the media folder it has no affect on the boot and the custom boot is not in the media folder it's doing my head in, I'll work it out on my own eventually, I was just hoping someone had the same issue and solved it.

Samsung changed the boot animation format.
The boot animation is no longer in zip file format.
They are now QMG files and have been QMG files for almost two years.
...
QMG files are very difficult to work with.
Good luck.. Have a great day.
