Phone calls and emails go unanswered.....
are you guys for real, or what???
and do you actually have any in stock?
Scary stuff, it's gone 3am here, and i'm doing a night time feed of my new baby (5 days old), and e-mailing while i'm up... it's actually taking me about 3 writes of each message before they make sense.... scary!
I think I need to get some sleep ;-)

PS When you place your order, I recommend EMS delivery - it may be a little slower, but you are less likely to incur customs charges (which are added as a matter of course by the likes of UPS)
great, thanks, again, modaco... BTW: Good luck with the little one
Now I tried to order it and the code did not give me the discount. I tried to call and the number on thier site is allways busy. Also web paged liked by your post does not have any info on the deal and the banner add with the code is now gone? Whats up?
Now they are saying the deal was only good until 12:00. pretty big piece of info I missed or was not told. I can't say for sure it wasn't on the linked modaco website because it is no longer up, but I know I did not see it.
I second that! They have been great.

Wt's that:S
The most logical thing to do to promote your app is to try to get visibility on the market by having an attractive description and good screenshots.
After that, try to get your app featured on one of the bigger Android blogs, or post it to a forum like XDA to get some initial user feedback.
If you want to spend money to boost your app, you could try advertising on networks like http://www.admob.com with a link directly to the market. Alternatively there are services that let you promote apps where you only pay for actual installs of your app on users' phones.
(Disclaimer: I'm developer of AppBrain, and we also offer a cost-per-install app promotion system: http://www.appbrain.com/info/advertise )
Good luck with your app!
The cheating way? bad... bad....
If your app is high quality and people will want it, who cares how you get it noticed...I'd just want to get it noticed, no matter the method.
There are definitely a lot of blogs out there that are willing to review apps. These blogs need the hits and you need the downloads. It is win win. Submit them to the blogs.
Yeah, submit to blogs and review sites and cross your fingers!

Can you put links, please?
I recommend to establish your own developer's site which will describe your app. And then make SEO, show people what your application does and offer to redirect Android Market: path to app.
will check it out

How is it possible ?
Google does not check your apk signature when you upload a software.
Even if you signed yous apk with you key, somebody else can put this on his google account.
The signature can be deleted easily if needed.
He can change the title of your app, so nobody see it, but he can't change the apk name nor the icon.
Why do we post our apk here ?
To have testers, to correct bugs, to have a perfect look and feel before put it on the market.
Because on the market people are rude, we have only one chance, so we need to avoid bugs.
And when we put our app online, we want to choose if it's paid or free (with ads or not).
What is the problem ?
If DavinciDevelopers steal and upload your app, he will lock your pak name.
2 apps can't have the same name on the market.
You may have a name like com.myname.myapp.apk
Where "myname" is the same in every app you do.
If he take that, this is a major issue for you because you will be associated to him on every search (google.com, market...).
So, you will have to change your app name and maybe your company name....
Within 1 or 2 days, the market is parsed from androlib, androidzoom, appbrain... and it's done. Google.com will see those websites, and you are trapped.
You will have your buggy app on the market, some people will pay for that, the thief will have some money, and every users will have a bad opinion of your app.
Why DavinciDevelopers does this ?
To make benefit from your work.
Because he doesn't care you are working from a long time on your app.
Because he doesn't care if your work is ruined, he will find somebody else.
How can we be protected ?
Because 2 apps can't have the same name, you should put your app on the market first.
If your app is in development stage, you can upload it as "draft", so it will not be visible on the market, but the name will be locked.
Who is DavinciDevelopers ?
Somebody that have 83 apps on the market !
Almost all of them are themes.
If you look the package name you can see for example :
com.nd.android.pandatheme.p__3d_android_theme
at :
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-nd-android-pandatheme-p__3d_android_theme-qAmiz.aspx
google search : "pandatheme", first link :
http://home.pandaapp.com:888/
So he is not a developer. He makes themes with a free online tool and sell them... nice.
And for the real apps he uploaded (about 5), they all are stolen, coming from poland, germany, and other places.
Almost every of them comes from XDA dev forums.
ps : this message should be marked as sticky in every development section.
Is it worth marking all these apps as objectionable to draw Google's attention to this issue?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Today, 2 of those links has been removed already !
Maybe somebody sent emails to every publishers...
I hope google will understand this and ban this thief.
I have posted about it on reddit
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/ew4e8/android_market_is_still_the_wild_west/?sort=hot
Someone who works for google replied and said they're looking into it.
@jgittins
Could you please link this post to you post ? Or give to the "google man" the list of the apps we found here ?
This kind of guy should be banned from google forever (if it's possible )
One thing I don't understand :
Google should give to every developer a private key that we could use to compile the apk.
Something we should not be able to remove.
So the developer who generates the apk could be sure it would be uploadable only into his account.
It sounds simple but...

It's not possible to add something, that is impossible to remove. Cryptography makes possible to check that something was created by someone, but not that it wasn't.
Dang that sucks that people are ripping dev's off. I have high respect for Dev's. Not being one, I don't know all the ins and outs of developing apps but I'm sure it's a very deeply involved process that nobody should rip off. Jeez. I hope these idiots are banned from the market. Is there a formal process that someone can start to get these apps credited to their rightful owners?
Thank you for informing the community of this!
Thanks a lot! As a developer, this information I will be very useful.
This is absolute putrid behavior. This is one of the downsides to having an open-source OS and Google being so hands-off. There better be some justice in this matter......
PS - moderators/admins should require this to be a stickie in EVERY forum
I post it to tweeter.
This is disgusting.. I will make comments on all his posted apps in the market and warn people how this guy rips them off..

These davincidevelopers retards are also releasing retail gameloft games on the market, we need to stop these fuken retards, get them banned from the market.

Hi, I'm a new app developer and I recently published my first app on the android market. Unfortunently I'm not getting any downloads besides those from friends. I've tried posted in app development forums like this one but that did not create an downloads. I also tried running an admob campaign and that did not create any downloads. I've been reading through the forums here and at other sites and it seems people won't download unless you have reviews and other people downloading. If others won't download because no downloads then nobody will download. I would really appreciate any advice. I'm not expecting or hoping for 10000 + downloads but I was hoping for at least 5 downloads since it's been almost 3 weeks now. Thanks for the suggestions.
go to smaller android blogs and ask them to review it. create youtube video and show how it works

Increase SEO of app..
In app details, enter large no. of keywords related with the app. Also, enter name of other similar popular apps as keyword.
It'll not just increase visibility in built-in search results, but also on external search engines and curators!
I might be able to help?
If you are looking to get your app promoted, I actually own and operate a website called Droid App of the Day, so if you would like a free app review visit my site (I cant post links as am a new member). A google search won't fail you!

Great article! Thanks for sharing this
Few words about google play app pronotion
Empirically, I determined that a new application has to be seen through search Google play. Search is all that we have without money for a marketing campaign.
Therefore, application should be optimized in the following order:
Application name in google play. This name may be different from the name displayed on the desktop device. The application name contains 30 characters, they should contain the main application keywords.
Description of the application must be clear and also contain keywords.
Attractive icons are very important.
The application must be beautiful and functional. No need to buy a device for $ 300-500 and install an ugly app. People want a beautiful application.
Publication of forums mentioned above.
Well if you don't mind paying for installations try appbrain. It features an option to pay per installation, for a small number of installations you can go as low as 0,20 per installation. They only allow to promote free apps though, and if your income is from ads you will probably not get your money back.
Other options are going to forums and telling the users about your app. Or contact review blogs. Appeggs usally posts good apps, or try app of the day blogs. But make sure your app is ready for the big public or else you might just end up getting bad reviews,
I wrote a little guide on how to promote your apps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225125
I wanted to add that the guide that i've been using (a small one) and that lead our team to initially post a thread here on XDA is: http://karim-ouda.blogspot.kr/2012/05/android-app-marketing-dumping-my.html
Interestingly enough, the author of that guide has posted here as well!
So keywords actually do stuff then? I only tried it in one app, I didn't tell anyone I built or released the app. Not even one or two people and admittedly it has had 200 downloads.
I thought it didn't really do anything. Think I have to add keywords to all my apps descs now.
Be careful with keywords: http://droid-blog.net/2011/06/13/how-to-not-get-kicked-out-of-android-market/
This is also interesting: http://droid-blog.net/2011/07/11/four-reasons-why-your-app-wont-be-successful/
And for tips: http://droid-blog.net/category/aso-2/
Ok. It is all from the same blog but I found it very helpful.
Advertising is one option, the other is to advertise your app on various forums, facebook groups. Making youtube video is also a good practice. It avoids you negative reviews as user has already been aware of all app features.
First of all, I want to say that I have no experience in promoting Android apps. But I did some work in promoting websites for businesses, and I can suggest some things.
Key is a having a functional app. If users download an app which is half done and has disabled functions because they aren't done yet, they are going to uninstall it. Second suggestion, a great design is makes a difference for a lot of people whether they're going to install it or not.
When you have both those things, you can get on with actually promoting the app. I would search for an SEO copywriter to get the description for your app. SEO copywriters are specialized in optimizing texts for Google. And I would look into advertising on Facebook. I think you can actually promote your apps, and advertise only on phones. This way your advertisement will only be showed to people who are using Facebook on their phone. User will probably more tempted to install the app.
My app is now having more 1600+ downloads! I am planning to do a major update which might increase the app exposure!
EDIT: I would like everyone to know that I have started a free review service, so if anyone in the process of promoting thier android app, they could consider requesting a free review from me!

Thanks for all the interesting links and posts on app marketing ideas. We're a new app developer & in the same boat.
It seems that App Store Optimisation along with submissions to as many review sites as possible are good starting points. We started looking at pre launch strategies as well focusing on building up some marketing steam.
Check out pre apps. It's a pretty interesting idea. We also submitted to any app dev competitions and as many journalists as we could. Paid reviews are worth a look at as well if you can scrape a few 100 bucks together but make sure the site has traffic
