Hey
I have a HP slate 7 extreme on 4.2.2 , rooted by vroot. Still have boot loader lock and no custom recovery, can I just use flashify to flash cwm or twrp? I tried all ways to get boot loader unlock but can't see device. Would love some input
Thx

u can do this by the cmd. download the super tool. in option 8 install drivers. exit of super tool, open cmd and type fastboot devices.
if appear a letters and number, your device has recognized
type fastboot oem unlock, in your device will appear if you want unlock. confirm and reboot device
Thx for replying, but I am using the super tool. Did all that driver thing with impactor and use cmd to OEM unlock but my com doesn't recognize it so can't unlock bootloader. This were I am stuck. Thought being rooted might make it much easier to install custom recovery .
Have you checked HPs site to see if they have drivers? The only piece of this puzzle that you're missing are the drivers... the rest should work just fine afterward.

The firmware version does not matter; you can always root a Nexus and Google will do nothing to stop you.
First you need to unlock the bootloader with "fastboot oem unlock" then you can boot a custom recovery like CWM and install Superuser.zip. Check one of the guides in the development section for more details.

There is only one method for rooting a nexus device, the tool kit will work, but you should just do it manually so you come to understand the process.

Since no one else has mentioned it, S-off is something that only HTC devices have. You do have to unlock the bootloader though.

install the drivers,
download fastboot & adb binary
download twrp: http://techerrata.com/file/twrp2/grouper/openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.0-grouper.img
run cmd.exe, cd into the downloaded folder
then adb reboot bootloader
then type in fastboot oem unlock
confirm the unlock on N7
it will erase everything
let it boot back up, and then get back into fastboot mode, then
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.2.2.0-grouper.img
then download superuser on your N7
http://downloads.noshufou.netdna-cdn.com/superuser/Superuser-3.1.3-arm-signed.zip
then reboot into recovery and flash the zip.
then I'd recommend switching to SuperSu.
I agree you should know how it works instead of just downloading a toolkit. If I'd know it was that easy, I'd have never used the Toolkit to unlock mine.

Hey Guys,
I tried to root the nexus 7.
I am using a mac so I was following a mac guide.
I had forgotten to enabled the usb debug thingie.
I tried going into recovery mode and it just gave me the google sign with a lock.
Anyways, the current situation is I can go into the Fastboot mode and I have unlocked the bootloader following other instructions, but I can't boot into the normal bootloader.
I have tried to download stock rom only to find out that my bootloader version (flo-03.05) is no where to be found. I had downloaded flo-03.14
Please someone help.
Thanks.

If you can go into fastboot mode, then that is the normal bootloader.
Or do you mean Recovery? Within bootloader mode, you can scroll the options using volUp/Down and find Recovery then Press Power to select.

We were never provided 3.05 bootloader as a flashable image from Google. It only came with the units.
I doubt you need to do anything with the bootloader though. It doesn't sound like anything you did should have killed it. If you are seeing the Google with the lock, then you have a working bootloader.
Got it!
Hey guys
Yea I followed a guide after I got home, to a windows PC and it was super easy and worked like a charm.
Thanks a lot

I hate to bring this thread back to life but, how did you manage to do it? I am in the exact same situation but bootloader 4.23. Did you manage to install the ROM through Nexus Root? Or platform tools?
Any help is appreciated.
I am attempting to flash the factory image. Found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1907796
ADB devices does not list my device and Nexus Root tool says not found. Not sure what else to do at this point.

I'm assuming you're in the bootloader while trying to do this. ADB stands for "Android Debug Bridge". The bootloader really has nothing to do with the Android operating system, thus ADB isn't running. You need to use fastboot commands. Try "fastboot devices".

You need to plug your phone into the computer in download mode after that and using Odin on a PC flash twrp.IMG.tar file for your specific device but make sure to turn off auto reboot in Odin.
Then once the file flashes successfully you need to pull out the battery, put it back in and reboot to recovery before doing anything else. If you reboot the os first then it will delete twrp and revert back to stock recovery so make sure to boot to recovery first

Installing a custom recovery is unlocking your bootloader. It means the same thing.
Here is the latest twrp in .tar format for your device (j5008) https://github.com/Galaxy-MSM8916/releases/releases/tag/TWRP-3.2.3-lineage-15.1_j8_20180921_j5ltechn

fast boot? You mean download mode?
There is no adb commands either this is a Samsung device you vacant unlock your bootloader by adb commands.
To unlock the boot loader download Odin to your PC.
Enable usb debugging and oem unlock in developer options of your phone.
Download twrp for your device from here https://github.com/Galaxy-MSM8916/releases/releases/tag/TWRP-3.2.3-lineage-15.1_j35_20180921_j5xnlte (j510fn)
Put the phone into download mode and connect to PC
Click the AP tab in Odin and find your twrp.zip.tar file.
Disable auto reboot in Odin.
Flash the file.
Pull out the battery
Reboot to recovery before rebooting the os and BANG unlocked bootloader with twrp installed

i had a galaxy j5 model j5008 CHN, but i can not enable OEM unlock. Because there is not OEM unlock checkbox in my phone Settings, maybe the OEM unlock checkbox is hidden by the OEM manufacturer. i want help.
Hey guys, I need some help. I searched a lot and didn't find nothing that looks like my problem.
I had a OP5 with Magisk root and tried to back it to stock. Then I flashed OnePlus recovery again, wiped everything and install 5.1.3 again. Everything ok until I made some dumb ****.
I tried to re-lock my bootloader and now my phone says that it won't boot up because it's corrupted. I can boot into both recovery and fastboot but I can't install anything (I can only install through ADB sideload and it says install failed) and I can't re-unlock my bootloader because it says remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed cant boot (but I can't boot so I can't enable oem unlock through developer menu).
There is anything that I can do to make my phone boot again?
Thanks in advance.

Thank u, killerex. Just one doubt: I see on the post about the tool that I need to have OEM unlocking enabled but, as I said, I can't do this since I can't boot. I can use this tool to flash Oxygen OS even with OEM unlocking disabled? And, if yes, how do I do, just flash the zip using the tool while in recovery?

in fastboot mode, use fastboot command to flash new recovery and then install new rom in recovery. You can also use adb sideload in recovery.

No problems, my english is not that good too. Just one more question: there's any difference if I go to fastboot through the tool or the power option (vol up + power), because since I can only boot my phone in fastboot or recovery there is no way to go to fastboot using the tool (I guess)
