I bought the Boost Mobile Moto G at Target for $60. I unlocked the boot loader, flashed the Verizon 4.4.2 ROM and modified it to work on Page Plus. It's activated and working great. Last night I did the OTA update to 4.4.4. Plan to give it to my mother. Nice little phone.

Here in India they released via Flipkart. G was released before X here. And so I had to sell my G as I've always dreamed of getting a X Woodback..

Just sold my 3 week old LG G3 on ebay before I threw it against the wall. With the proceeds I bought a new to the market tablet which is an Acer Iconia Tab 8 (Beautiful full HD, 2gb ram, very speedy Intel Atom quadcore processor :laugh, a lovely bottle of single malt...oh...and a Moto G 16gb and I still have some change in my pocket.
For such a big downgrade (on paper) I have to say that I am very impressed with it. I haven't rooted it as I like to use Skygo but I have installed the HTC blinkfeed launcher and It looks and performs very nicely (as long as I have my glasses on )

Downgrading from the Note II to the Moto G

Hey Guys.
I recently traded in my Galaxy Note II, which I had been using for the better part of a year, and bought a Moto G. The main reason for this was that I was low on funds, and I knew I would be able to get some extra cash from the trade. And I had also grown tired with the excessively large screen which had been the reason I purchased it in the first place.
On my Note I had been using had stock Android 4.4, so the transition hasn't been too bad.
Anyway, I typed up a quick review of the Moto G, and my experience of using it after a year of using the Note II on my website (link below).
Would love it if you guys could give it a read, and I'd be happy to answer any questions people have if they're planning on downgrading to the Moto G like I have.

i am note 2 user as well. bought moto g to replace my dying motorola defy mini. all i can say, moto g are such an awesome device.
I sold my S4 I9505 and bought the Moto G. And for my surprise, Moto G is best than S4!!!!
I sold my Note 3 to get a Moto G just for the extra $300. Haven't regretted it since. The Moto G for the price is a fantastic phone.

How you are using stock 4.4 on note 2 lol
4.4 kit kat have not been released for note 2 yet
I also own note 2 but i guess i will keep it at the moment because of big screen and better battery life
what if i told you, your not really downgrading, but upgrading?

It was a ROM
Im currently on Sprint with a Note 2 and will be switching to Tmobile so cut my monthly bill in half. Im still trying to decide between the Moto X and G, I know the G doesnt have LTE but Tmobile hspa seems to be plenty good considering the crappy 3g or even 4g that Sprint advertises.
I was leaning towards the Moto X sale but the more I think about it I might just go Moto G (I tend to play with my phone less anyways) and just stick with the Nexus 7 for work/home video youtube watching which is when I prefer to use the bigger screen.
I bought my 16GB Moto G because I need a dual SIM phone for work.
Compared to my Nexus 4 the only real noticible difference is the size, the Moto G still being o JB and a warmer titn to the display.
The biggest drawback for me at the moment is that its still on JB, when I first got KK on my N4 I noticed what felt like a few small differences and got jused to it fast. But now going from KK to JB I feel like I have stepped back into the stone age... at least KK will be rolled out eventually though so its not all doom and gloom.
Performance wise for my use and gaming (Real Racing 3 and Deer Hunter 2014) its just as capable as my N4 and that's nothing to sneeze at.
My N4 has been retired to my backup phone for now but they are both great phones in my opinion.

New Housing

I just wanted to show the community my Xperia Play, I had it for about 2 years before I dropped it on my bed and the screen cracked. Shortly afterward the main flex cable broke. So rather then trashing the phone I spent about 50 dollar to make it look and function brand new.
BTW it's not a Verizon AT&T I just chose the case because I liked how orange looks Also I don't think I've ever heard of anyone here that has an Orange Xperia Play
There were two additional colors for the UK market. A white and an orange coloring. And if your a Minecraft fan, they released a limited only Minecraft edition:
But yeah, your PLAY is looking good. I sold my VZ model last year and bought a prototype model.. that is now been replaced by a Nexus 5. I don't have the heart to sell my PLAY though.

Awesome
Where did you get a prototype model? How is it different from a regular r800i (or a)?
Its an early AT&T model. With the standard all black and silver. Zero carrier branding. Bought it on eBay a year ago for $125 to use on T-Mobile. It came Sim unlocked and boot loader unlocked

I've also bought a Nexus 5 after a along use of the Xperia Play. Are there any hardware differences on the prototype model?
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk
None that I could find after one year of use on that play ( almost 3 years total on a XP). Its just for geekness that I bought it. Another user here at one point had a xp proto from att but it was 4 weeks newer then mine. He had a slew of issues with hardware and software. Guessing its die to whatever att was doing with it from when mine was made to when his was made. But mine works perfectly. And works just like everyone else's again except for the prototype labeling. Plus at $125 it was a good price at the time and look almost brand new.

I bought this housing aswell the colour is sho nice ....ill put in on when i have time....I wonder how many still have their plays as main phone....i plan to use mine till it bites the dust or some real amazing tech comes along besides 4 quad cpu to run my flashlight app

[Q] ebay xt907

Hi,
im looking at a Motorola Droid RAZR M XT907, without contract, carrier verizon on ebay
could anyone confirm that this is fully unlocked to work on all gsm 900/1800, hsdpa 900/2100 worldwide (as it says in the listing), im considering getting one to use in nz.
looking for something more compact and light than a moto g for basic use
thanks
He speaks the truth ...
cool, i've just bought a moto g but it's a bit large and heavy, especially in the pocket, it seems I could do just as much with this phone as im not into media or games so the screen size and res isn't that important,
do you think i'd regret it?
thanks
I know the moto g has really good battery life and was reviewed on YouTube by some woman (forgot name) but in the video the phone lasted over 30 or 60 minutes in a sink full of water. Personally I'd go for the newer device as the RAZR m is starting to get outdated, although we are getting kitkat, it still is a fairly old phone.

Ah yes Erica griffin, as he said old phones on kk aren't as great as new phones on it

Motorola Droid Mini is more compact and light, also more modern than the M and faster than the Moto G. It has the same rez screen as the G.
It's the replacement for the RAZR M and they come GSM unlocked with no need to flip bits in NV memory like the M.
One with a bad ESN/IMEI would be cheaper and should work for you in NZ.
Battery life is not great on KK though. I've heard it was better on JB, but I think I had JB on my Mini all of 2-hours. Also can't be rooted on KK unless it was rooted on JB and root preserved when updated to KK.
Razr M is a nice phone, why don't you also check swappa.com , can find find better phones there.

Cheapest DECENT Android smartphone in 2015

I've seen the specs and I believe this is going to be the cheapest usable Android smartphone in 2015.
What do you guys think?
Sd410 is ****
I've bought one today for my dad. However I read someone mention on gsm arena that this Moto G is going to be rubbish compared to previous versions, because its made by Lenovo and not Google. Is this something to be concerned about or just a random opinion from a Google fan?
That makes no sense.
As far as I understand, Lenovo just bought Motorola to get access to the NA/EU phone market.
Why would it mess with the internal workings of a company that's been around longer than Lenovo's parent company???
Manufacturing shouldn't change from when it was owned by Google, who bought it for patent and manufacturing reasons.
I'm a little surprised there isn't more talk about the device on here. I'm currently on the iPhone 6 Plus but want to get myself the Moto G to play with and use as a back up.

If you are talking about IBM, IBM doesn't own Lenovo. Also, IBM has been around (not called IBM back then) since the 1890's, where Motorola has only been around since the 1920's.

This is far away from the cheapest decent android phone in my city(Hong Kong)
There are Xiaomi,Mizhu(?),Huawei,ASUS(for the zenphone 2 with 4gb ram,13mp camera, full hd display,5.x display and sell with about the same price as moto g did off -contract)
And you can buy even OnePlus One in any retail smartphone shop
This moto G is not the best cheapest phone anymore

I'm an iPhone user, but I'm using the Moto G as a backup Android device. I like it. It's not a world-beater, but no one expected it to be. Solid device.
Here's my review:
Good overview of all the features you are getting for your money.

Jeff, which version did you review; was it the unlocked US XT1540? I was hoping the charging cable was a two piece set; micro USB and walk plug.

Yep, the unlocked US XT1540. And nope, it's a combine cable/plug. Kind of weird.
Thank you sir. Oh well, not a show stopper, just a small bump in the road.

Firstly I wasn't talking about IBM. IBM sold Lenovo it's PC unit and IBM now focuses on services for the backbone/back office of the internet and intranets.
Back on topic -
Motorola for the second time has released a new phone that was GSM only first and then re-release with a few updated and adds an LTE radio.
The 2nd gen LTE Moto G was too expensive for a terrible camera. My Radiant has a bad enough camera but I used it for work anyway and still got decent pictures.
I opted to fix my Optimus G which I dropped on the screen side and it shattered = $155; as I was having space issues despite installing Link2SD on my Radiant.
This was back in May, I couldn't afford to wait for Motorola to announce an updated 3rd gen Moto G with the LTE radio.
Now I am dealing with a screen that has a mind of it's own. I can no longer make or take calls as the screen goes dark completely and I have no access to the dial or other phone controls. I used to get around this by connecting it to my BT headphones but that stopped working. The only way it works with the screen on now is -
1) Connected to the BT in my Panasonic Link2Cell cordless
2) My Car's BT (factory)
That's just the tip of the problems I have now. Otherwise the phone works fine.
I will keep it around for it's camera and video capabilities.
Now the decision is -
1) Moto G for $180 but it's skimpy on RAM and internal memory
2) Moto G for $219 but it's hardly better than the Asus Zenphone 2
I am leaning towards the Zenphone 2 actually because it seems to work well in low light. As I said I use my phone for work and while store lights are overall fine, the light isn't bright like a sunshine or controlled lighting under more ideal conditions.
Actually I should get a phone with optical stabilization since I don't have the calmest hands in the world and it sometimes takes two or three shots for get a sharp picture.
The One Plus Two has that, but not the Moto X? Hmmm... Not sure I want to shell out $400 for a phone though, I have other pressing priorities.
the MOTO is one thing I'd like to try.. Never own one and based on several reviews, they're looking good. I'm leaning for the cheaper one. I think it's aint a bad idea after all

I just came from Moto G 2014. Was using Titan Prime Rom + Greenify donation + Custom kernel + Xposed + Amplify + Tasker. The phone sucked on stock but I made it a beast for the last few months. However, I couldn't resist the camera, battery and ram upgrade and traded in my 2014 and got the G 2015 and I have used it only for a day but I can tell without a doubt, I find it smoother than my G 2014 (the tweaked one). Everything runs the way it is supposed to and I've about 40 odd apps installed and it still runs without any lag or jitters and the battery life is good. Been using it from noon today (it is 10.45p.m. here), battery is down to 56% and 3 hours 10 mins of SOT and out of this 1.5hrs I downloaded 40 apps on a very slow WiFi. So yeah, very happy with the phone as of now.
No NFC in 2015...

If you are not willing to shell out $500 (or more) for a phone, then you shouldn't expect to get a great camera with OIS. At least not now. In a few months the S6 will come down in price.

Not denying that, I just didn't want a worse camera than my current phone.
It won't come down that much, an LG G3 is now $399 unlocked (AT&T) and the G2 is about $280.

Moto x pure vs S6

Hey all,
I have been a moto x user since it's inception. I have seriously loved the minimal bloat and the moto assist ks amazing.
My battery in my 2nd gen moto is shot and I need to upgrade. I have always purchased my phone through Verizon @ the $200 price tag. My question is: is the new moto x worth the $400 price tag? I have looked into the S6 as a plan B. However is the bloated software from Samsung going to drive me crazy since I am used to the mostly stock UI on the moto x?

Wrong forum. This is for the X Play, not the Pure
IF u want good battery, go for the Play. It's awesome!
Skickat från min XT1562 via Tapatalk
I switched from my S6 to the X Play (which is 'less' than the X Pure) and I`m loving every bit of it. The bloatware in the S6 + touchwiz is maddening. I also have more free memory on this device, than on the S6, which actually has 1GB more in total
