Battery Issue: Help - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have this issue that my 3G mobile signal drunk a ll the juice of my battery.
I tried every rom including the latest Android L preview. With every rom I could only survive only 3 hrs of screen time. If I leave it completely not using. The standby time is still within 8 hrs. I used the fastboot to reflash the factory image and replaced the radio version but it didn't help. A brand new battery was also replaced.
I believe it is the modem problem because if I turn on the airplane mode, the battery works great even with wifi on.
Any ideas?

That sounds about right for the Nexus 4, thats what I have been getting on mine since I got it. A custom kernel helps the most with battery, but don't expect huge gains

whats your service provider?, signal strength could be the issue.
have you got any betterbatterystats logs?

battery drain problem after dropping the phone

hello,
I dropped the 8282 a while ago, then it started to drain battery so so quick. About %1 every 2-3 mins.
Even i switch off wifi gsm and switch it to airplane mode, it keeps on draining madly.
I installed another firmware to check if it is smthing software but still same results.
Physically all functions are working..including g-sensor etc. What can cause the problem.
Ps: i tested with another brand new battery if it is about battery but no, still same results.

Massive battery drain even after battery replacement

hi friends,
i have a major battery drain problem on my nexus 4
a month ago, i charged once with an old LG P770 wall charger and since this charging, the phone discharges in between 8-12 hours on idle mode, and even in flight mode. (an average of 10%-15% per hour), the average screen time is about 15m and so the voice calls time.
the things I've already tried:
1. replace the battery
2. change rom & kernel
3. flashing stock rom and revert to factory defaults
4. of course disabling all the syncing, gps, Bluetooth,Google now, Google + and etc
i don't know what else to do, it's very disappointing because i have the device only three months.
any advice or help will be blessed
thanks in advance, Eldan
You have a really bad network signal and that could be a reason for the drain.

it is just in this specific case (now for example i have full signal bar)
beside this, it's happens also in flight mode.
Faulty device ?
Find another N4 to test one of your batteries.

Battery draining even while the note is turned off or in airplane mode.

Is there anybody else with this problem. It started monday i turned my phone on but it didn't start. The battery was 0% while i shutted it down with 78% of juice left.I charged the battery but it drains down real fast!Even with the screen off at night and no wifi or edge/3g/4g i still lose about 10% every hour!
I've used the note for two weeks without any problem.Rooted with Xposed Greenify and most of the bloatware disabled.Same setup as my Notepro 12.2 and galaxy mega(no problems with those devices).Battery life was pretty good about 5 a 6 hours of screen on time.
Tried better battery stats but no particular wakelocks or anything??I've ordered a new battery and that will arrive tomorrow.I can do a test then if it is the battery or the phone which is causing this problem.
It's a note 4 910c.
I have similar problem with my 910C...Everything was ok for first two weeks and problems started when I enabled LTE at my mobile operator. No matter what I do, I have huge battery drain like you said. I've also tried with disabling 4G/wifi/data/sync/airplane mode/removing apps... I even tried factory resetting 2-3 times and flashing stock rom via odin...Nothing helps...
I'm looking around on various note4 forums but I'm getting out of ideas...
I had an initial battery drain issue which ive managed to resolve. Took a few factory resets but for me it looked like the galaxy apps ap. Once you open it a single time it updates a few things and thats when i started to see wakelocks. Ive reset and avoided the galaxy apps completely and now wakelocks have gone. Might be a placebo but seems to work for me.
I have 2g,3g and lte enabled.
Oke i enabled 4g from the first time i used it so i don't think that is the problem.I was thinking about a factory reset but i'll wait with that untill i tested the new battery.
Will give a update tomorrow!
I had the same problem after one week of normal use. It was a hardware issue and the service center changed the phone board under warranty.
Well tried a brand new battery but still the same!Lose at least 10% every hour and i am not even touching the phone!!Sending it back for another one.
It's happened to me once but touch wood only once where I lost 70% overnight in airplane mode
Could be the media scanner? I was having media server and scanner drains until I installed a custom rom and disabled it.

The image shows the phone was without signal for some time which was about 32% and it will consume power. Don't know the reason behind this, but if phone really had no signal for a long time, then be in another place where there is a good signal and test there. I have seen few times with my old Moto X, that sometimes after using internet via mobile network(without wifi), the connecting would somehow still be open and it would consume battery and the way to fix this, I had to restart the phone.

this is ridiculous ! i never had an issue like this with any of my older phones
best bet do a factory reset and see if it still persists
Same happens to me too. Yesterday I went outside my house and traveling in the city - my battery went from 100% to 43% in 6h40min. I had SOT only 1h. I am wondering if something related to GPS is killing the battery as it always drain very fast if i am moving - but in the other hand it seems that phone radio is draining also the battery a lot. Any advices what could I do?

cell standby is not related to gps and location services i dont think so at least iam pretty sure it is mainly phone network related
Cell standby drains too much battery
I'm using Galaxy S8 Exynos Version (Dual Sim). Facing this cell standby extreme battery drain issue recently. I have tried several options like- reset network settings, restart / power off-on, factory reset and wipe cache partition to see if the problem goes away or not. These things can solve the problem only for 2-3 days. Then after that same cell standby battery drain occurs again. The only thing left is to hard reset. But I don't think this will solve the problem either. These are not the permanent solution. When I first got the phone this problem was not there. For the last 2-3 weeks I have been facing this issue and it is bothering me a lot coz my battery drains too much even when i'm not using my phone. I really need a solid solution for this. Can anybody help? And I hope Samsung will address this issue and solve it asap.
I think cell standby is the worst problem in the S8. It really kills battery. It can make your phone drop 2% per hour.
Same issue here. Didn't have this issue before the latest two updates. Before I had 6-7 SoT and now barely 2-3 hours.
yes, this issue was not pronounced before the latest updates (one or two as mentioned)
Same thing here. After the last update there is a battery problem with standby. Hope they fix it with next release.
same with my s8+ dual exynos

Terrible battery life using unlock G930U rom

Hi,
anyone here using the 930U firmware ,
i get only about 2-2,5 SOT.
Is it the problem with the U firmware,
Or nougat itself,
Thank you.
Edit: My battery drop 35% in six hours standby last night T.T.
I have the same issue. Not sure what causing the drain. I moved to hybrid rom by jkruse . That helps keeping the battery life good. https://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s7/development/rom-t3637664
i have the verizon variant and i have the same issue, i'm returning to stock verizon rom
Same problem here, it started about 2 months ago. I have noticed that it doesnt happen when airplane mode is activated and only wifi is on, maybe radio is causing the problem (?). I'm going to try the hybrid rom mentioned before
Could someone solve the problem? I have the last update and the battery is drained and turned off with 40%
That's odd. I've been using the G930U on my G930A for some time now and I haven't had any problems with the battery life. Then again, I only have Wi-Fi on my S7, so maybe it is a radio issue?
I do not know, sometimes it goes off with 40% others with 19% and so it varies but never reaches 1% and it will be 2-3 hours of screen use that the battery lasts. I changed the battery but it remains the same
