Banking app security on Different roms - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I use a banking app called easybanking from BNP fortis in Belgium. It works on Touchwiz based roms (Omega, Echo etc...) and CM 11 but I can't get it to work on Danvdh GE rom, which is unfortunately is my favorite.
What happens is the touch screen buttons are disabled, this happens both when I do a new install or from the TB backup from a work rom, the app launches but I can't interact with it. The support team for the bank simply says they don't support rooted phones, but since TW and CM roms work, I figure there must be something specific to the GE rom, Anyone have any ideas, similar issues?
I've tried Hide my root, rootcloak (plus) but no luck.
I'd ask in the rom specific forum, but I don't have access to post
Any ideas would be welcome
Thanks
Scott

Privacy in Settings

Hi,
The CM builds have a privacy option in settings. Is this something that is available in the google edition roms at all? I've tried running the new 4.4.3 but this doesn't appear to exist which is a shame for me. Is there somethign that can be used to replicate it (if it isn't available)?
thanks
Re:
This feature is build into every Android. On stock and many other ROMs, this feature is hidden. the cyanogenmod "Privacy" settings tab only brings app the "vanilla" AppOps interface that is hidden by default. If you run an Android version UNDER 4.4 you can access the Privacy menu on your device without root. But you say you updated to 4.4.3, so I bet you'll have to root to bring up the menu. With or without root, you should try this "App Ops" app. I used it before sticking to Cyanogenmod. App Ops by Lars Team (can not post link to store - low rep)
But just as a recommendation, if you want true privacy on Android, you need to ditch the Samsung and Google stock bloatware and get some clean and true Android like Cyanogen. My device is more secure than ever and boots almost instantly (set device to performance mode) with CM11. Anyway, if you have plans to root, (... and void your warranty...) do it with Cyanogenmod. For i9505 devices, there is Cyanogenmod Installer which automatically roots your device and loads recovery and Cyanogen, without any risk, except the risk of voiding your warranty and having the device display "Warranty Bit 0" when entering recovery.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
I've been running the nightlies for CM for quite a while now but fancied trying the GE ROM that danvd brought out with 4.4.3 (already supersu). I looked in settings and couldn't see the option though so wondered if it was CM only or something. Didn't realise it was just hidden (as I've just gone back to CM backup after going through it all (including having to go back to ext format too). WIll definitely look for the app ops in play. Thank you

Which custom ROM to use?

Hi guys,
I need to update my phone as my current setup is having Bluetooth issues - and I read it happens on Android 4.3, but is fixed in 4.4 onwards.
I need a ROM which allows the following fixes:
1) Bypass security settings on emails that require you to put a PIN/Password to unlock your phone every single time.
2) Remove messages from the call log. Not sure if this was fixed in the newer android versions but it was very annoying when I first got my phone. I only want to see calls in my call log.
Can anyone recommend a ROM which will allow these fixes? I don't need any other features - just need something as light as possible.
Cheers
Wanam Xposed has the second option, you can use it on any stock based ROM, at the same time Arya Mod is the best TouchWiz based ROM available in my opinion, but it is by no means light. About the first option, I think Arya has that too, but not at all sure.
Thanks mate, will keep that in mind if I cant find a lighter a ROM.
Does anyone know of a light ROM which will do the above?
CHeers
Temasek cm roms are pretty good.
Norma N5 Port V15, Phronesis V4.1 good, i tested. MinimalOS is very fast and light but need some apps for default messages, etc
Hi guys,
I just noticed Wanam Xposed has the option to bypass exchange security. Therefore, I want to find a light ROM which is based on Android 4.4 or higher, and has the ability to use Wanam Xposed. What ROM would I be best to use?
Alternatively, could I just install the newest stock ROM, and then root it and install Wanam Xposed?
Cheers

The last time i read in order for xposed to work on lollipop, it has to be deodexed. Try multiX by tkari4. It's the only KK rom left supported here.
Sent from my SM-N920C
I second Temasecks Rom. It's Great.
I'm using Pronesis Rom ported from Note 5.
I think it's good enough, there are a few bugs but everything works great. I would recomend you to use this rom.
ALEXNDR Roms are great too if you dont want a custom rom that makes your android look like nothing.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649176
I'm using Dark AU rom found on Samsungviet website, very stable even more than stock imho. It's a Note 5 rom ported for Note 3.
This rom has none of the issues you've mentioned. If you want to bypass security try using google's smart lock feature build into lollipop. If you want to open anything from the lock screen you will always need to unlock

[Q] New User - Quick Switch Toolbox Type App?

Hey everyone!
New user here, I just picked up a Note 4 N9810W ! Loving it so far! Rooted, installed a custom ROM, all set up and ready to go. However, I do require an app for quick switching between apps.
Previously I used to use PIE on Paranoid Android ROMs, and then later SlimPie on SlimBean roms back when I had an S3
Now, on Lollipop, my ROM did not come with any such feature. I tried a toolbox from the app store, and it works but I would much prefer something built in. Is there something such as the toolbox, PIE, or other thing I can flash to be able to very quickly switch between messaging, gmail, email, etc?
Thanks in advance!

If you goal is to free up space just removing preinstalled apps won't help that much since you are only modifying the system partition which is fixed and readonly. As for custom ROMs, since you are a T285 user you have the benefit of a wide range of ROMs to choose from, for 5.1.1 you have the tinker edition roms, on the other hand the 6.0.1 (CM, Omnirom) and 7.1.1 (Lineage, Omnirom) based roms allow adoptable storage, of course the 6.0.1 and 7.1.1 roms have problems just take note of the issues and problems each build has and see if it works for you. Just take a look at the ROMs and custom kernel section of this forum.
Thanks Jedid, would these roms remove bloatware upon installation? Which would you say is the most stable? Are they installed using Odin?

when you "install" these ROMs they actually replace the entire system and boot partition of your device, so they don't remove anything they replace it. In theory the Tinker Edition variant is the most "stable" as it is just stock with some apps removed. For non-stock based firmware (CM, LineageOS, Omnirom) I guess CM-13 has the most hardware support. Yes you use Odin to install these.
You wouldn't have clear step by step instructions to follow would you please? New to this it is rooted twrp and supersu.
Also could you provide the Rom on the tablet as it is now incase ever what to return it to normal.
Hi Guys I managed to install the Tinker Edition 5.1.1, it's still got kids mode Hancom, Samsung smart manager still on there? I don't seem to be able to move to SD card I thought you could on this rom? If not could anyone assist please?

Only 6.0.1 and 7.1.1 based roms like CM, Lineage and OmniRom support adoptable storage. For Tinker Edition use root apps like Link2SD to move to SD card.
With links2sd can you move any apps on the device to SD card? Are there any that do need to be left on the device?
After turning on the device today I don't seem to be connect to my wifi. Saying failed to obtain IP address also won't connect using tether from my phone either. All other devices in the household are connected fine, and there were no issues prior to installing Tinker edition rom last night. Can anyone help please? How to rectify? I've switched off router rebooted I've switched off device and still won't connect?
Sorted problem, the IP address needed changing!
If I have now installed custom rom after rooting my SM -T285 how do I put it back to how it was from new with no root or custom rom, none of the apps like sky sports mobile virgin media anywhere will work on a rooted device!

you can download the stock rom from sammobile, updato and then flash using odin
Would that over ride any custom rom then? Or would have to unroot after installing stock rom

In my experience, it's often more stable to root the stock firmware and then remove the bloatware (using Titanium Backup or Link2SD). That way you have a rom that's tailored for the device and you don't have issues like the camera not working on custom roms, certain video codecs that aren't supported, ...
Unless there's an official CyanogenMod or LineageOS for the device.

That is what I want, but can't seem to get it done. The newest Magisk is not working. Older versions aren't. Anyone got it done? Just need root to get storage rights for external SD for Syncthing..
ok, got root working now. used the "old" way, supersu, for an old ROM..
