Just bought a Droid Razr Maxx that is on 4.0.4 and it won't let me update to the newest firmware, not even over wi-fi. Keeps saying that it's up to date. The phone is not rooted. Can someone please help?
Check out the droid RAZR forums the RAZR M is not the same as the RAZR Maxx... I'm guessing you have a xt912 not the xt926

Would Motorola have to release updated drivers before a rom would be possible?
Nope. Check dev section

Hey guys, I just got a factory replacement for this phone and it came with the latest update. I know I can't unlock my bootloader but is there a way to root?

As far as i know there is a possible root. Is it XT912, or XT902? That'd be helpful information. Also your probably ruining jellybean(4.1.2) which you can root. There is a forum explaining the root process for a razr m using motochopper.

Can someone tell me up to what version of Android can be currently rooted. I'm trying to find a Motorola DroidRazr HD for my dad but I'll only get him a phone that can be rooted. I don't want to know what updates can pass root on from previous versions, just what versions can be rooted.

Currently they can all be rooted on the RAZR HD/M but only some of the older versions can unlock bootloader for custom recovery/roms

My rooted Droid R M HD won't install. It goes to about 1/4 through the install process then a red warning sign pops up and the phone reboots.
9.18.94 XT926
Xt926 is the RAZR HD tho it may be very similar to the M xt907 you may find more assistance in the HD community... I would say just rsd the stock firmware from here and you should be good to go...
