Im not allowed to write to the Android Development Thread, so im posting here...
With all KitKat-Roms i have very poor wifi signals, drops, losts and reconnects. I noticed, that i turn my razr m to landscape mode i have much stronger wifi signal, faster transfer and see much more networks as in portrait mode.
I dont know how much antennas the razr m has, but it should be two at least. Maybe antenna diversitiy dont work right or is disabled?
Just my 2 cents

Dhacker is incorporating a new driver for WiFi into a future build, hopefully will fix it. https://mobile.twitter.com/dhacker29/status/491041540119461888

has the kk bootloader something to do with the wifi issues? should i downgrade to the jb bootloader and flash the new msm8960_jbbl builds?
Yes the kk builds are when the wifi issues began. The jb bootloader builds have screen dimmer issues but otherwise work great.
Any news on the WiFi fix?
nope

anyone having issues with their wifi signal not being strong even if you are close to router?
not that big of an issue but it would be great to get it running up to par since i had better signals running the stock froyo.
might be that your internal wifi card got messed up happened to me on the iphone 3gs.
Works awesome for me.

I noticed it too, its one of the reasons I don't use cm7. I have to use wifi calling in my room and the signals sketchy.. its good enough to pick up on sense roms but the signal was rarely strong enough to connect on cm7. Maybe try a different kernel? MiUI is cm7 based and I always got good wifi with tdj's kernel, so maybe you wanna give it a shot.

No wifi problems here...
I had nexus one which had a pretty good wifi range.. I could access my home network router from pretty far away.. now i am using Dell streak 5 within same home network and I have found that it's wifi range is a lot less than nexus one... why does it happen? any idea? Can we boost wifi range of dell streak 5?
Streak 5 has a wide wifi range especially with MIUI ROMs.
Flash a MIUI ROM and try again, you will see that it has a perfect wifi range.
really let me check it with MIUI .23 version
Please post back if you see a difference using MIUI rom, i'm also interested
i flashed with MIUI .20 version ROM, i am sorry i did not find any difference
To save younall some time.... there's pretty much nothing can be done about the Streaks short wifi range

I have tested stock roms and the other custom roms including cm7; all of the roms have the same wifi range at the same place; they can't find the wifi signal or they find weak signal but at the same place especially MIUI 2.2.17 and 2.3.16 find double strength wifi signal.

yeah it's your exp.
i want to know what exactly inside MIUI 2.2.17 and 2.3.16 that made the signal stronger? any mod or script maybe?
so there's a chance for me to use some tweak in mine

Maybe...But i didn't examine this.
Put a bigger aerial on your router, or use a extender

i'm suffering from the same here, very low wifi range
Though i'd make a thread with the problem slow wifi speed after a while. I'm on the DMC3 fw.
If there is a thread (i've searched...) you can delete this.
So what can we do about this?
Well I don't usually report problems but I guess I'm facing this one! Downloading stuffs from Play Store, starts at full speed, within 5 seconds speed cuts by 1/4th. Is this a problem with custom ROMs? I don't remember having this problem on Stock ROM, however I can't be sure as my ISP is having a long run problem atm!
PS: Confirming that it is my ISP. WiFi speeds are same both on custom ROM/kernels, and Stock ROM and kernel.

Are you using bluetooth when the wifi slowdowns occur?

Never had bluetooth on.

I have bluetooth, GPS and WIFI on, and still works flawlessly. Just defective units, perhaps? I'm using stock now.
I can't say I've ever experienced this either. Does it happen with all wifi access points?
I am planning to get either this phone or the Razr HD next week and leaning toward this one (mainly because of the size). I just wanted to get user opinions on it before I make the leap.
I read in several places that the stock jellybean update ruined the battery life. Is it true? How have custom roms been doing in this regard?
Is bluetooth working (fully) in custom roms? Bluetooth seems to always be funky on custom roms, it would be nice to see it working properly here.
If you had the chance again, would you get this over the Razr HD?
Thanks for your input.

You two should get together & find out how to get a previous version unit.

haven't heard about battery life dropping from the recent update (I think the update was to solely install the security patch to prevent unlocking).
stock battery life (4.1.2) will always be superior to the custom ROMs (4.2.2), but the battery life on these ROMs are quite good enough to get you through the day and then some (personal experience will vary, of course).
for me, bluetooth works just fine, even on custom ROMs.
I still would get this device again, as I enjoy the smallness of the device.
Don't get it and wait for the newest version of this phone. You will be happy either way, but MUCH happier with the droid mini. Comes out in a couple weeks.

For me bluetooth is working fine - mostly......
The one problem I have is using bluetooth for streaming music in my car. I start audio streaming and all of a sudden my BT connections starts randomly dropping and reconnecting.
It works fine for me on the stock 4.1.2 ROM, but none of the custom 4.2.2 or 4.3 ROMs that I've tried work right for me. If anyone finds a custom ROM or kernel that fixes this, please post some info about it.
Hey there Xda people.
I dont know if this was already answered (i searched and found nothing). Why the WiFi signal is poor on EVERY custom rom?. I know that the developers makes its best with his custom roms and I love that, but why the WiFi is horrible in custom roms that in stock?
I've actually experienced significant better WiFi reception on CM10.1 than on Stock 4.1.2
EX. With CM, I'm able to receive a signal on my deck, with good speeds as well, while I simply cannot receive a signal on stock.
Does anyone else experience this?

One of the updates that Verizon made to Stock was increase the range of the Wifi. Maybe you didnt install that update while using stock.
The reason stock runs better... Well... Sometimes runs better... Is because the kernel is being developed by people with more inside access than any custom ROM dev could ever have (with the exception of that whole Oppo+CM thing...), and they're getting paid to work 8 hours a day to develop it well. Since the ROM devs don't have access to the inside kernel data, they basically have to make a graceful hack. Which sometimes doesn't work well. FWIW, I have perfectly fine WiFi access on custom ROMs, not enough of a difference to notice.

My WiFi has been better on 4.3 over stock. Gaming is a huge improvement over stock. I will never go back.
