Thanks for the Stock Kernel zip...
I have posted 2 kernel zips in Franco Kernel thread before for 22R & 25R (but no special thread for it)
See the links below....
22R (3rd July 2014) -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53876409&postcount=80
25R (4th July 2014) -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53895251&postcount=112
Thanks! I guess I didn't look hard enough. Also thanks for posting links to your zip files. Will be helpful.

I see the boot.img from you both is nearly 6MB.
But the boot.img which I dumped from my device (mmcblk0p7) has 16MB. Why is that?
Pull this out of the ota. If you extract the zip the Boot.IMG is actually 5798 KB.

Partition size might be larger than the actual image file ... when you take backup using DD it is taking backup of the whole partition.
Some kind of cluster size difference or compression might be involved for this.
Thanks for making this.
I feel all of the stock files should be a sticky. :good:
Is this the latest stock kernel? (per OTA update)
Does anyone have the latest (XNPH33R) stock kernel?

Sorry but I don't want to change or add anything otherwise its not stock anymore.
To root it and get CWM, flash CF-Root 6.4 with Odin.
I know how to flash it but usually CWM flash files contain "CWM" in the name to avoid confusion.
Do you know where I can find the insecure version?
Regards
ok... zip are renamed with cwm in the name.

Hi All,
I just extracted the stock kernel (boot.img) from I9082XXUBMJ3_I9082ODDBMJ1_I9082DDUBMJ1 and packed it for cwm flashable zip.
I did this for my own backup purpose.
I was facing MTP issue with Evolution kernel so felt like reverting to stock kernel.
Publishing it for the just reference sake.

thanks for the kernel. Can you tell me how to extract the kernel from the firmware tar file ??
and how can we take backup of OTA updates by Samsung ?
I don't want to download the whole 945 MB of firmware again.

If you open the tar file in any zip software you can find the zimage.bin file, that's your kernel
For OTA I guess you have to capture the downloaded ota on your phone. Search on xda to see how to capture ota

Yeah, check out this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/4-4-4-creating-rooted-update-package-t2933155
In short, what you will have to do:
1. Go back to kitkat.
2. Root and install recovery.
3. Create a flashable zip with prfcreator (tutorial in the link).
4. Paste the flashable zip to your sd card and flash it via recovery.
The process is not so hard, just follow the instructions. If you want, I can make you a flashable zip and post a download link, but I won't be able to to it before tonight when I get home :/
Ok, thanks
This seems rather complicated. I also have a xperia zr, on that i just flashed the recovery via flashtool and then flashed the superSu zip via recovery, that gave me root.
Isn't there any other simpler way for xperia z2.

You may try this: http://techjeep.com/2015/04/04/how-...xperia-z2-running-lollipop-locked-bootloader/
Im not sure if it's going to work, I have not tried it yet.
I have also heard of another way with an app called Kingroot or something, but rumor has it that this method sends your IMEI to a company in China or Japan or something.
The safest way is to downgrade to KitKat, root + install recovery and then upgrade to rooted lollipop from recovery. (Tutorial in my last post and again, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/general/4-4-4-creating-rooted-update-package-t2933155)
Hmm....ok.
Looks like i need to do some read and try the previous method. It seems safe for the device.
I used to run CM12 though, can i flash the zip from that itself or is it necessary i go back to kit-kat.

The zip file has to be flashed from recovery. If you have recovery at the moment, you can flash the zip. If you are running CM12 at your device now, you do have recovery, so just do a backup of your data, flash the zip file created with prfcreator and wipe cache/dalvik.
If you don't have recovery, you have to downgrade to Kitkat in order to install recovery.

---------- Post added at 07:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:52 PM ----------
What's important is step number 6 in the tutorial: "6. Uncheck all the Include options [ ], we don't need them, we will flash them with Flashtool after the update. I think it's still safer to flash kernel, baseband, boot and other system critical parts of the firmware from Flashtool.
(But if you want to include them anyway then you can skip part 11 and start your phone normally.)"
If you are at CM12, and choose to NOT include the options he is talking about in step 6, you HAVE to do step 11 aswell.
If you choose to include them, then you skip step 11 and reboot phone normally

Sorry I haven't been on. I updated the post a few days ago. Use the nadia kernel. It works too. But that's the only kernels I found that work is the nadia and the one from the Omega rom. I removed the Omega link because the rom doesn't work with cell network and the nadia rom is better.
