Researching a potential device switch, but want better reception than the S4. If the Note 3 is even just a little better I would be fine.
Doubtful , but never had the s4. ..just seems like a lot of varying opinions about signal

I have been a vociferous critic of the Note 3's shortcomings as a communication device. Verizon replaced my first one and signal still sucked. I was skeptical of another Samsung product but, with a business account, I have 30 days to return my new Note 4. It will NOT be going back. My biggest problem was an area where I hunt and since I often hunt alone being able to communicate can be critical. In this particular area the Note 3 had ZERO signal. No 1x, no voice, no text. I checked yesterday with my new Note 4 in the exact same spot and I had -103db of 4G. Not only was there perfect reception for voice and text but also I easily, and quickly, could check email and go on line.
The range of bluetooth connectivity was somewhat better with the Note 3 but I am still experimenting with that. As far as the core function of being first a communication device, the Note 4, so far (and in my experience) is light years ahead of the Note 3.
Now lets get it rooted and start having some fun!
I have a s4 and the note 4 has way better reception than it
Hey Guys,
I Bought my Galaxy Note 4 a few days ago " In Kuwait - Arabian Region " and I updated it to the new Samsung release Android 5.0 for Note 4, and I have been having POOR/SLOW Signal on my note 4 compared to my old Xperia Z1.
I get low signal and slow data internet I have checked with my coworker and he have the same issue on his phone, but an old Mobile Phone such as the Xperia Z1 with lolipop doesn't have this issue :'(
Does anyone have this issue or know how to fix it
I tried to :
Hard Reset x2 times
Format Phone x2 Time
Cleared Cache 3x Times
Kies firmware recovery tool ( One Time )
And all of them didn't do anything or improve my Signal
Having the same problem here with BOE1, 2 & 3.. it's modem related i suppose.. if you're still on BOC something don't update to any of the BOE versions.. try flashing the BOC5 UAE firmware.. had the best reception with it
I have the same problem in uk. My iphone 6+ was great everywhere.

This has been my experience with the Note 4 as well (I've had it for over 6mo). Whenever I use it I miss/drop calls frequently and data connectivity is spotty at best. Unfortunately if it weren't for the continuously weak signal, this would be a perfect device for me. Even my Nexus 5 has a significantly better antenna/radio.
Agreed. Last week I was on a picnic in the mountains and all of my friends had signal/reception on their phones (moto g first gen, htc 8x...), except for my note 4; not to mention, we have the same carrier... Was quite disappointed tbh. Oh, and I am still on BOC3, as it's the latest official software here.
it's modem related i suppose..
Same issue after upgrading my 910f to lollipop, though I had the same issue with a LG G3 after upgrading that.
I'm in a weak signal area most of the time, and have gone from ~1% time without signal to ~15% without.
That is strange? Have you tried restoring your Note 4 to it's base factory settings?
Same here although if I switch off 4G it's better.
Hi, i change my S5 to the note 4 and doesn't notice better performance, battery last the same.
But i notice reception is worst than the S5.
Because im all day data on and today i see only have 2 bars at home when S5 is always full.
Really don't know what to do.
Top phone S5.

It happens to me too. At first, I thought it was a new feature of the Note to save battery or something like that, but now I see perhaps is a bug, and a common one.
Im now changing for a new one in the store and if it does the same i will change for the s6 or lg g4.
has anyone who has updated to 5.1.1, and was having this issue, seen an improvement?
I'm finding that my note 4 has much worse reception than my old S4.
In the same location with the same sim card the S4 signal is about 6 dBA (so 4x) better than the Note 4.
Dodgy hardware? Have done factory resets and no improvement. ..
Back to samsung i think...
I live out in the sticks, I rely on wifi calling. I am hoping there is some improvement with the modem. Both my GS6 and Note4 cannot make a reliable call here without WIFI.
Curious to know about this as well..

I have better service so far with the S7E on T-Mobile than my S6E. That's for sure. Noticed last night
I'll be back in my office with less-than-stellar coverage on Friday. My Note 5 used to struggle for LTE until recent radio updates allowed it to pull 3-4 bars fairly easily (not in an active Band 12 area for this office). Hoping the S7 Edge can do this too.
Has anyone figured out how to tell the phone to prefer Band 12 over others? I used the same Samsung Service Mode from the Note 5, but the options are laid out completely differently.
My Note 5 had much better reception inside the building that I work. Hopefully an update will make it better.

My Note 5 & S7E has about the same signal strength. But, from speed wise, Note 5 is pulling about 10Mbps faster than S7E (35 vs 25). Also, another strange thing is that Note 5 is LTE towers while S7E is using GSM towers. I couldn't find any switch to fix that...
Side by side with my s6 I'm getting an extra bar on the s7
For some reason the signal is been pretty spotty compare to my Note 5. Hopefully, Tmobile has an update in the works.
Better signal but more important then that is faster connect. A lot of times on my s6 there would be long pauses before ringing. The s7e is much faster.

I've noticed that my LTE signal in the office is slightly weaker than my Note 5, but it still works.
Noticed my LTE signal is weaker in the office as well (Coming from note 5). Hope a update fixes the issue.
I have owned the Note 10 before but never did this test. I have an S10 plus (Exynos) and have noticed that vs other phones the signal strength is quite poor. This came to light really as have been without broadband for a while at my house and have been relying on my phone. My carrier has patchy coverage at my house and the S10 plus struggles to get a signal at all. I have a P30 pro and Pixel 4 XL and they show a signal strength of around -102 the S10 plus however is in the same location -116 and often worse.
It is something I have noticed when using the phone on my commute too where signal inside a train is often a challenge.
If anybody has the Note and S10 interested to see how they compare in this regard?
Thanks
Yes, the S10+ has horrible signal strength and also has a habit of squatting on the weaker signal. The dbm's even comparing to the OP6, the S10+ is considerably worse. My device constantly sits on either band 2 or 4, yet I have stronger bands 12 or 66 available on the same tower.
My S10+ sits around 102-94 dbms on either either 2 or 4, my OP6 will be around 92-84 dbms and connects to either 12 or 66 on the same tower.
Either Samsung has borked the coding or they used subpar hardware and charged a premium for it pulling a bait and switch.
Same issue here.
Coming from a Pixel 3a XL reception is noticeably worst.
My pixel has no issues in areas where my exynos S10+ struggles to the point of dropping calls, something that had not happened to me for a long time.
Yes definitely a cheaper radio has been installed in the latest s10 n10 phones I myself am on Verizon and have used a note 8 factory unlocked for 3 years, bought n10+ and couldn't get near DBM on the 8 so I immediately returned it and I tried everything before I sent it back. Note 8 had a very quality radio in it I hope the note 11 will be improved because that is the heart and soul of a phone.

Exactly, if you have poor networking in the device you in essence have a glorified tablet with a small screen.
This was my first Samsung in years, will be my last...... Way too many other companies out there with better hardware that don't defraud for less money.
I currently have a note 9 and it does as well as the 8 same radio in both I believe. Being with Verizon on grandfather data plan I use it alot for hotspot at home due to weaker area, but Verizon only has a handful of devices that will work on there system and I'm not an apple fan so you either have pixel or apple or Motorola. The note 9 is a great performer and has 4000 mah battery. I may buy a second for when I wear this first one out.
