SlymHyde release 9 ROM, how to use WiFi tether? - Verizon Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running SlymHyde release 9 ROM and I have an UDP with Verizon, how do I tether and not get charged? Or do I need a different app like foxfire?

You might have better luck getting an answer in the thread for SlimHyde. Sorry I don't have an exact answer, just trying to point you in the right direction

SlymHyde removes the provisioning check. You can just use the standard toggle(Settings>More Networks>Mobile Hotspot or add it to the quicktiles).

He can't post in the thread because his post count isn't high enough.

Thank you very much, and yes I couldn't post on his thread because I've been a member for awhile but don't post, I'm going to be changing that though because I love my s5

I was getting much response in the Rhodium forum, so I thought I'd post here;
I installed ICSinstall.cab (January, 2008 version) on my TP2 (Verizon), rebooted, connected USB to my laptop, connected the application a VOILA! I'm online!
Awesome, now I just need to know if this is safe to use on my Verizon TP2. Will Verizon see that I'm tethering my laptop?

Please reply here, and not in the other thread.
Thanks guys.

If you don't have a proper answer to the topic at hand, don't reply.. everyone else is doing a great job at it, why don't you tag along visualdeveloper?
I'm merely bumping the topic in case there is someone now who knows, who didn't see the topic previously. Seeing as how there are almost 2 million members, almost 300 thousand active, it's entirely possible that someone missed the topic who can verify the information.

I agree instead of undercutting another chef, why don't you try something new? Just a suggestion.

I didn't undercut anybody. I spoke directly to Hector and obtained his permission to post this up before posting it.
On a side note, I felt my post would be easier for other's to read and use, since Hector had only posted a paragraph and a link to zenulator's original Hero ROM thread. He's, since then, copied info from zenulator's post and fixed his post up.

I was just saying. As long as you got approval, then I'm all for it.

No worries, Spencer. I can understand how it could seem like I was overstepping my boundries on this one.

Is there any way you can get rid of the background image on the icons? To be honest they look like the xPhone and takes away from the Sense UI, which is crisp and clean.
when uploading roms, i suggest using multiupload..
rs gives users a maximum of 10 downloads before killing the link..
just a fyi

I'm a rapidshare premium member, so there shouldn't be a 10 download limit on my links, but thank you for the heads up
wi-fi not working.
WOW. This looks mighty nice. I wish I wasnt on vacation still and could flash to this. Nice work mang!
Nice looking rom. Not as functional as I need it to be to take it's place of my everyday rom, but it's still nice to look at.

I found that as well, bluetooth also isn't working. I'll try to repair this for Rev2.

Edit: I've asked zenulator for help to expedite the repairs, but I'm still working on fixing these issues..
ZenEXP 0.9.4.2 Port Rev2 is now up, it includes some minor fixes that were pretty annoying in Rev1. Changelog is in the first post.

Just tried your Rev2 and I like it! It's quick and I haven't found a problem yet. Will bt it to my car radio on the way home. The icons are different than I am used to but they are growing on me...sort of Ipod Touchish. Good job!
It appears as though your extra downloads aren't signed...at least that is the message I got when I tried to flash.

Device name..

How do I change the device name that is in the android build to a motorazr v3? Tmobile is detecting that I am on a Nexus One with darkstone v2 build. So Im thinking i might be able to take advantage of the $10 unlimited web plan that they are offering. Can someone tell me how to change the name or direct me to a link with instructions?
won't work.

You'd be better asking in the general Android Hacking and Development forum. This forum is for HD2 Android specific development only.
Or try asking in the Q&A thread at the top of this forum.
And as said above, it's unlikely to work anyway...
listen cheap skate if you cant afford it why own it??? besides there is already a guide in the tmo hd2 section that explains how to save some money
How you about you don't post if you going to be useless. And thanks to the other two that answered me.

The $10 internet is for dumb phone internet. It doesn't have all the proper ports or speeds to run things like android needs.

Rogers Note 4, any rooting/Cyanogen Rom?

Are there any good links to roms and rooting for this phone? There are so many variants for this phone that it's a little overwhelming
Thanks!!!

Thanks but maybe a little less rude of a response. This is a forum after all and it usually is easier to post a thread than use the search, and I did use the search function and didn't see this thread.
Either way thank you

Once you're done rooting and flashing a custom recovery head over to the T-Mobile section they have all kinds of the cool roms that are compatible with the Canadian variant, granted you flash a compatible kernel of course.

T-Mobile wifi tethering

Please forgive me ahead of time I have searched but am not sure what it is Im looking for. Can someone please direct me to a thread that can help me with my wifi tethering. I just switched from Verizon to Tmobile, I am rooted but with any custom rom wifi tethering is super slow. I tried searching and the only thing I can come up with is to change my APN settings??? I have tried this from a couple of different forums to no avail. Has anyone found a way for wifi tethering speed to not be limited? Thanks guys.
Not sure speed wise, but Take a look at this prior tethering thread here

Thanks for the reply but when I click on your link I get "Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms"
Try this one here
Thanks all for your feedback. I added one plus today and tethering is working fast again. I hate paying the $25 a month but without plus it was unbearable. I wish there was a way around it. Thanks agian.
