[Q] Any way of disabling CM Welcome screen? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, as the name of thread suggests I need to bypass CM setup wizard, the problem is that on my N4 the lower half of digitizer is not working due to failed bungee jump from my pocket on to concrete. In AOSP the setup screen can be rotated to landscape so I can hit the Next button/arrow, CM setup however doesn't want to move at all. In previous versions of CM the welcome screen was an .apk file in system/app, In CM 11 I can't find it anymore. If anyone has an idea how to disable it I would be very grateful.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Its built into the core of the Android system as far as I know. its not an individual program .apk that can be installed or pushed.
I'm not so much concerned with the Launcher as the Lockscreen I really want that and maybe if it was clear that would be dope too but mainly just the 2.1 lockscreen

I don't know which one it is, but the GoogleBits v1.9 for AOSP has the lockscreen in there, don't know which apk it is, but it's in there, I pushed it on an vanillia aosp 2.1 that didn't have a lockscreen once i did, it showed up.
and look around for launcher2.apk which is the nexus one's "home"
sorry don't have time to find them both and link them, but they're in darch's thread somewhere. hopefully that points you guys in the right direction
EDIT: oh forgot, after you push the google bits, remove the htc one and it will revert to the google lockscreen, but only after you push the google one *this is important*
EDIT2: oh agian... do a nandroid backup first
I remember that now I did have that lockscreen when I used that rom but it lacked too many things I needed so I went back to Fresh 1. maybe Noj can chime in on this and lend a hand or does anyone else know how I can get that lockscreen
If its like the one from the Droid you could use lockbot pro

it's really only a issue if your using lwp with it, try the other launcher with lwp
is there a way we can get 5 home screens and use lwp? if you push and use launcher2.apk to the phone and use that for your homescreen, lwp screws up your phone. at the same time, using the regular launcher only gives 3 screens... =/

[DEV] Working HTC touchscreen driver fix for ICS, no porting necessary

Alright. Well. This is interesting.
I've fixed the original HTC touchscreen driver for use in ICS. I'm assuming it will work on other HTC phones as well, since the fix is FAR less intrusive in terms of changing existing code, or trying to port other drivers.
I was working on trying to map out the Samsung and HTC drivers in terms of data they let the system see as they are running. Getting no where fast, I remembered a couple days ago when I was attempting to get the touch keys working with the Samsung driver. Originally, I had added this code to the mxt224 driver above the line 'set_bit(EV_ABS, ts->input_dev->evbit);':
added to mxt224.c
Code:
set_bit(EV_SYN, ts->input_dev->evbit);
set_bit(EV_KEY, ts->input_dev->evbit);
set_bit(BTN_TOUCH, ts->input_dev->keybit);
set_bit(BTN_2, ts->input_dev->keybit);
I assumed this may have something to do with the softkeys, since it was present in the HTC driver with all four lines. By this I mean that in the HTC driver, that section looked like this:
atmel.c
Code:
set_bit(EV_SYN, ts->input_dev->evbit);
set_bit(EV_KEY, ts->input_dev->evbit);
set_bit(BTN_TOUCH, ts->input_dev->keybit);
set_bit(BTN_2, ts->input_dev->keybit);
set_bit(EV_ABS, ts->input_dev->evbit);
It worked fine in CM7 after doing this, but I lost all touchscreen in ICS, with it not even registering touch data anymore.
Back to my main point, I decided to see what would happen if I totally removed those four lines from the atmel.c file (HTC driver) and see what happens in ICS. Long story short, it works. Apparently ICS doesn't use or absolutely hates one or all four of those input preprocessors. So yeah I kinda **** bricks that it was that simple.
I'm going to try to see if its one or just all of these keybits that's causing the problem and I'll report back.
Instructions
If you want to try this, follow along:
Get rid of build settings for the Samsung driver if you've been messing with that
open up our favorite driver driver/input/touchscreen/atmel.c
CRTL+F, search for EV_SYN
Comment or delete all of the set_bit() lines except for the last one, EV_ABS
Your atmel.c should only have this line now, where all five were before:
Code:
set_bit(EV_ABS, ts->input_dev->evbit);
Clean your make environment and make sure your config files are set to use atmel-touchscreen
**** bricks
so it should look like:
Code:
ts->input_dev->name = "atmel-touchscreen";
// set_bit(EV_SYN, ts->input_dev->evbit);
// set_bit(EV_KEY, ts->input_dev->evbit);
// set_bit(BTN_TOUCH, ts->input_dev->keybit);
// set_bit(BTN_2, ts->input_dev->keybit);
set_bit(EV_ABS, ts->input_dev->evbit);
?

Yeah try that. I've run into something though, which must be something stupid I'm doing but I can't figure out what the hell it is.
I've gone through each of those that I commented out to see if it was just one of the set_bits that was making it not work. But even with them all on now it's still working in ICS. I've cleaned my builds between each time. I think I'm going crazy! Because it didn't work before!

Quick question, does your pointer in ICS seem to go back up to the top left hand corner of the screen? Or aren't you in pointer mode?

Awesome! Glad I'm not crazy and this works. They must have deprecated some of the input preprocessors. I'm just surprised using them in the driver basically made the touchscreen inoperable in ICS.
One step closer...to something! Now to figure out those pesky idc files to get this to work without the pointers.
maybe better to focus on Paul's dump.. could be different regarding TS

Trying to haha filesonic is only letting me get one file at a time *sigh*
I already downloaded those.. I have a paid acount for filesonic
I posted this in DHD thread also:
my Touchscreen works, but it doesn't unlock anything... I mean, I pull the ring to unlock icon, it vibrates and it doesn't change screen..
so I unlock screen with adb shell, and when it gets unlocked I'm welcomed with SystemUi FC.. and every time like that.. if I turn off screen and back ON after trying to unlock screen, my touches are not working.. it must be because systemui already crashed... but it doesn't show it..

[Q] Edit Mini Apps tray on 6810?

I apologize if this has been discussed, I really did search and only found one place where this was asked, but there was no answer. According to the Samsung 7.7 features page it says this "Mini Apps : Upgraded so you can choose and edit your own Mini Apps tray. You can easily access favorite features such as Calendar, Email, or PenMemo as a pop up over full screen applications. " So obviously my question is this. How is this done? Or is it even possible on my model? Thank you and again sorry of this has already been addressed.
If you look at the bottom bar on your Tab you will see an icon that looks like an upside down 'v'. Click on it and it will bring up your mini-apps tray. You can launch those mini apps over the app you are in.

This is all stock icons with edit function built in. Hope this is what you wanted. I tested this on my rooted stock 6810. Let me know if it works.
PS: For anyone that might want to know how I did it. All I did was use the "layout" folder in the Res folder from the apk that has the edit function. Then rezipped, changed name and permissions, and put back into system/ app.
Awesome... Thanks for your time. I'll try it when i get home tonight. I'm thanking you now anyway...

Yes, it works, thanks... But what I didn't expect is that you can't add any app you want, it's just limited to some samsung "mini" apps which really su**s!
I wonder if there's a way around that...

Why scrolling in opera is good?

It is broken probably because BN made some patches to make it compatible with their apps, however, it might be just incompatibility with the "scrolling" thing (framework-res/framework. apk)
Opera uses its own rendering engine.

[Q] Some titles garbled using Nook Manager

I used Nook Manager to root my Nook Glowlight V1 early this year. I love it, but I've been having a small problem that I haven't been able to figure out.
Most of my titles show up fine (using ReLaunch), but a few are garbled. . . most of the garbled ones display as "%t" (photo demonstrating this available via email if it's needed. . . I'm too new to post a link to the photo ).
But a few will show the author and then "%t", a few show "Unknown", and a few seem like just strings of characters.
I tried changing the text of the file names themselves. That doesn't seem to have any effect. I've looked at the metadata in Calibre, but I don't see anything that looks amiss. Frankly, I'm stuck, and that's why I need to ask this question! Could anyone point me toward a possible cause (or, even better. . . a solution)?
Thank you!

Hi Maneki!
I'd love to help, but I need a few more specifics.
1. Is your Nook Touch Glow on firmware 1.1.5, 1.2.0 or 1.2.1?
2. Are the problematic books signed with Adobe DRM?
3. How long have you been having this problem?

I kind of thought you would've.
Okay, now, would you PM me a quick pic (or, better yet, a screenshot) of the screen with the problematic books on it? (I.e, the Library screen)

Sure thing.
Reply to your PM
Then I believe this solves your problem AND provides a cause.
In the Advanced Settings menu of ReLaunch, there are several file association settings. Look around in there and see if anything works.
I actually got rid of ReLaunch quite a while back, and am currently using ADW with the Minimalist theme. I absolutely love it. But, if you need me to look around in ReLaunch, please post the .apk for me and I'll temporarily reinstall it.

I tested the stock Library, and the titles do show up there.
An important element of the problem, which thenookieforlife3 kindly diagnosed and I neglected to mention, is that I'm using ReLaunch! So the problem is specifically that they're not displaying correctly in ReLaunch, not that they won't display correctly at all.

I must have messed something up while playing with settings when I first rooted (honestly, as is probably obvious from this thread, the level of versatility is kind of over my head!). . . I poked at a few things, and then I just restored the ReLaunch settings to default, and the titles show up again.
Thank you so much; that was massively helpful!

Feel free not to.

Thanks.
Well, have fun with your Nook. By the way, if you have any questions about your NTG, please PM me, as I'd really love to help!
From USB host mode to partition resizing, I know my stuff!
