Take a look at sony smart watch2 or wait for Android wear outbreak. Won't disappoint you.
At least they don't randomly drop connection and cause false alarm.

(IDEA) Burglar alarm

My idea is as follows ... taking advantage of our g-sensor devices (Pro and Diamond) someone could make a burglar alarm. When someone takes our device has to put a pin, unless it makes sound an alarm ... I've tried ... but do not know anything about programming. What you think?
That is a good idea i must say
But who would leave their precious diamond unattended
Lol but it wud be pretty neat, maybe catch out your friends who may decide to start looking through your text messages or email lol
that will be very cool soft. maybe one of the best for diamond.

Accurate! that's the idea ... Could serve to maintain the bride, friends or family away from your phone.
The idea would be to move that (after 5 seconds for example) if you have not had the pin (or just turn the device) is activated the alarm .. And the pro also led the ...
Maybe, some developer could tell me how I can make this program ... My knowledge is very low but I like to learn ....
it would be nice, but the sound of the diamond isn;t that loud, so i wonder if it will be usefull
It could say, "DonĀ“t even think about it" when someone takes it
this is exacly what i was searching for some time ago...
should be deadsimple to build... i can image...
and as far as the volumeisseu.. if the sound sounds horrible and the burgular cant deactivate that sound.. he will go nuts and leave the phone right where it was..
There is a program named WIMP, when you text message $WIMP**** you will get a text message back with longitude & latitude of your phone, which it will get from GPS. It also sends within the text message a google maps location with the current location of the phone.
If the phone's sim is changed, it autmatically sends the same sms message to a back-up number that you'd have configured too ...
****= a code that you configure yourself, lets say 0000
These are all good ideas actually.
We should combine lots of these ideas into an 'Anti Theft Protection Suite' with options such as warn if SIM is changed and send GPS co-ordinates, the WiFi I.P. addresses the theif has connected to, sound alarm when PIN has not been entered, and better yet..
Maybe even have the phone silently take a picture with it's front camera and send the image via MMS or WiFi so you can identify the person.
Its actually a longshot and theres lots of work and programming involved in this but if such a program existed, I probably would buy it.
For now, we can stick with the basic yet effective idea of sounding the alarm if the PIN is not entered.
But just one thing to note though - you would have to be careful when you turn the anti-theft software on; if the phone is in your bag or pocket, it will be constantly moving thus prompting the PIN screen

[Q] To root or not to root

Hi,
I am new to all this so please forgive what's probably a repeat. I have had a browse but can't find an answer to my specific problem.
I got a nearly new note 3 on e-bay and only saw the 'doesn't work in UK' warning after I bid (I know, stupid or what, but I swear it wasn't there before I bis as I was looking out for it). Anyway, I decided to take it on the chin and do what I needed to do to make it work.
I read around, this site is great, and decided that I would need to root and was quite prepared to do so but, then the phone arrived and the confusion set in.
The phone doesn't ask for an unlock Sim password or have the screen shown in the 'How to... you youtube videos' I don't have to dismiss anything to get into the phone and play with it. It's connected to my home network fine and and I can play with it to my hearts desire. It does everything in fact except make phone calls (my Dad thinks this is hilariously funny, a phone you can't use as a phone hahaha).
When I do try to make calls it says it is not registered to the network but when I have gone into settings to check it says it is!!!
I don't want to go to trouble of rooting if it doesn't need it but, what do I need to do!?!
Also there is the new kitkat thing that's thrown more confusion into my little life, if I root will I get that and if I don't, do I or should I care?
What good is a phone that doesn't make calls?
Any advice, hints or tips with this would be great x

[Q] Endless bluetooth pairing requests

Happy day,
Firstly, thank you to anyone whom reads this. I appreciate the time and effort those more knowledgeable than I contribute to communities such as this where struggling noobs come for guidance and help. I apologize in advance if this post is verbose, or is perhaps missing something that might be useful in diagnosing the problem.
In May I purchased an LG G2 from BestBuy for Sprint and was a happy camper. I am running Android 4.4.2, Kernel 3.4.0 and software version LS980ZVE. I have never rooted the device.
In September or so I had a problem with the battery and sent the phone in for service and was sent back a repaired device. In November I moved to an office and ever since then, I have been plagued with endless bluetooth pairing requests from two devices that are not mine. In settings->bluetooth there is a checkbox that says "Allow other bluetooth devices to find my phone." This box has no check mark in it. I take this to mean that my device is invisible to Bluetooth devices. When I turn bluetooth on (and no check box marked), 2 devices appear in the "Available Devices" list. They are not mine and I do not know their pins. As long as bluetooth is on, the pairing requests come in every minute or so. I have tried many combinations of hard reset, factory reset, unpair, turn off, turn on, reboot...anything to stop the requests from coming in.
I called LG and they asked me to send the phone in. A couple of weeks later they send it back saying that the problem was Noise/Humming/Echo/Mute and they replaced the speaker/receiver. I turned it on and the same problem occurred. I called back in and they had me send it back in. This time they sent the phone back saying that there was a GPS Test Fail and that they replaced the board chip set. Today I picked up the phone and the same problem exists: endless pairing requests from the same devices.
I have not yet gone to a mall or other populated area to see if there is just something magical about the two devices near the office, or if it is a larger problem. I work a fair bit and time is precious, but I could do that if someone thought it would be beneficial.
I have video of what's happening and could upload that if it would be helpful to see. I just don't know what else to do and thought I'd ask you for help. So...help please

ZenWatch Always-On screen option doesn't work

My newly purchased ZenWatch is set to have Always-On Screen but after 5 seconds it fades a little, then, shows the dimmed version for a second, then goes completely black so I can't see anything until I wake it again.
Wear version 5.0.1
Connecting to Android 4.4.4
This happens the same with any watch face I select: pre-installed or new custom ones. I have tried uninstalling Wear and ZenWatch Manager, resetting the watch and starting over again, same thing happens.
Could an app or watchface I have installed be interfering with the Always-On option somehow??
I don't know if this is related but I had to return my first watch as it didn't charge, so this is the second one connected to my phone (after 'forgetting' the first then pairing the new one).
When I click on the Always-On tick box on my phone, it immediately updates this option showing on the Watch so it's definitely sending the command to it. It shows as Always-On selected on the watch.
Has anyone else had this bug and know how to fix it? Thanks.

Thanks, no, cinema mode isn't on.
It's really curious, the screen fades slightly in brightness after five seconds, then goes to the dim version of the watch face, then goes completely black a second later. One tap brings it back so I'm it's like the regular off screen mode.

Hi,
I'm very curious to know if you have found a solution to this problem as my new ZenWatch is doing the exact same thing. Asus support has told me it's a firmware issue but that seem odd to me as the feature seems to work for others.

Oh thank you for telling me I'm not at least alone! No I haven't found a solution - I have reset the device, removed all the Wear apps one by one from the phone (in case a setting is interfering) and nothing makes it work as it should.
So... firmwear meaning the version of Wear that's installed on the watch? I was considering seeing what options are on the debug? menu but following online instructions I couldn't get this to work (you have to swipe from top left etc). I'm on 5.0.1 build LWX48S bought in the UK, how about you?
Have you had another watch that you replaced? I have and thought maybe settings got confused between watches. On my previous one, the always-on screen worked fine on it. When I booted it up for the first time, it did a software update. It however had a power problem (didn't charge after 2 days), so I replaced it.
The replacement didn't update when booted up, and doesn't update when I reset, so I assumed it shipped with newer firmwear - maybe the always-on problem is caused by this?
One weird problem with the replacement watch is that it notified me that it was almost out of power, despite having about 75% batter left, then it switched off and didn't turn on until charged over night. Only happened once.
I was planning on swapping it for another at the shop but someone else having the issue makes me think it's software. Might wait for an update, but if not solved long term then I'm not happy - I want it to look like a watch rather than a blank screen.

Just got my Zenwatch and I am having the same problem... Resetting the watch helped. But, I am still not getting the watch to vibrate on notifications. It vibrates when I set an alarm (on the watch) to it's not the vibrating device itself...

I have the same version of Wear with the same build number and I am also in the UK (which may be the common factor here as it is looking quite likely to be a manufacturing batch issue). When I first got the my watch from Heathrow terminal 2 it had an older version of Wear pre installed and the always on mode was not working then either. This would suggest the Wear version is not the issue here but the ASUS firmware which links Wear to the hardware is at fault.
I have also done the uninstall all apps from my Nexus 6 and factory reset the watch thing but ultimately it made no difference.
This the response I received from ASUS BTW,
Thank you for contacting ASUS. We are sorry to hear about this problem. I believe this is due to a firmware bug, it is not a setting that you can choose.
Please be advised that I will forward your feedback to our HQ development department to see if our engineers can resolve this problem in the next firmware update.
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
I also share your sentiment that a watch that doesn't tell the time is not much use to me so I will be rolling the dice and returning it for a replacement unit in the hope for a device that works as advertised.

Did you return it in the end?
After several frustrating emails with ASUS support in which they replied with general info on how the Always on-screen setting can be set, then asked me what build number I had even though I told them this in the first place, they concluded it must be a hardware problem.
"Taking in consideration that you have both the settings enabled on your watch as on your connected device and you are using the latest firmware, I also believe this is being cause by a hardware fault. Please return the ZenWatch back to your reseller."
So I took the plunge and exchanged it for the second time with suspicious staff at the shop (it was past their 21 day return policy cut-off, so I had to order another, then swap the new one for mine, on their system they refunded the new one). Hey presto, the new one works fine!
This one shipped with: 4.4w.2, KNX01W, updated to: 5.0.1, LWX48S.
So overall sounds like perhaps just a hardware issue. I know it's a new product but it's lucky I like the look of the watch so much that I'm tolerating quite a few teething problems. The one I have now has a very slight ridge on the right hand side of the screen where it meets the metal frame, which you can feel when swiping right. Hopefully I'm just being overly-fussy now and I won't notice after a while, but it's not as smooth as my previous two watches. On the left of the screen it's completely flush.

I went to take mine back last week only to be told by PC World that this product can only be bought on-line and I would have to buy another one and then return the first for a refund. Which is a bit of a scam to me as the replacement was at a higher price than the first one I bought from Heathrow Duty Free.
I am due to collect the replacement and have an argument about the price difference tomorrow so finger crossed I get a working one as well.

Ha, mine was from PC World too. I guess it's not their fault that your original one was bought duty free & therefore cheaper, but really if it's faulty they should treat it as such. They did offer me the option of booking it in as faulty, then it would have been sent off to ASUS and in all probability replaced with a new one anyways, but he didn't know how long this would take. So I just took the other option of buying another, having it delivered to the store the next day then swapping & refunding the latest transaction.

Well the good news is I now have the replacement watch and it works as advertised. I did have to complain a lot to get the difference in price resolved. I ended up complaining so much that the store manager gave me the money out of his own pocket just to get rid of me .

U8 Smartwatch Question/Issue

Received new U8 Smartwatch. Appears to NOT be a clone given pics searched on forum.
Today I have noticed that while I do receive SMS messages, it will NOT notify me. Screen comes up, but no vibration/sound (I have set to both).
I unistalled btnotifier, as it woudl not read any step info, camera worked OK, music worked OK, calls also..
Installed Rwatch app. I can make calls, music ok, texts (sms) I receive, but no notification, still nothing on steps, and camera now does not work..
I have tried to update firmware to no avail. (win 7 pro 64)...nowhere does it state to click on COM button on the screen of the watch to connect... this got me close, but still no cigar..
I only have three watch faces (two analog and one digital) and none look like pic advertised!
Any suggestions? (I have also tried updating firmware on an XP machine).
I have tried resetting phone and watch to see if vibration would work again (nothing)
I also can't seem to find where to find the ABOUT screen on watch to see what firmware it is currently on.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

U8 by UWatch (aka RWatch)
Hi
I've had my U8 for a few months now, and must say it's better than the U10L that i've subsequently bought (naively thinking it would be better)
What has caught my attention with your question is that the phone's clock faces are nothing like those advertised. My U8 has the same "design feature", much to my dissapointment. :silly:
I'm hoping to find a way of upgrading the firmware or other ways to add functionality to the U8 :good::good::good:
you guys might both haves clones?
there is info in the u8 topic to find out, if that's the case, tough luck, no firmware updates...
i got 2 of the real ones, never use them
