It was confirmed working on 4.3 devices on a website..
Anyone else getting parse error while installing it?
Edit:
I think it works only on 4.4+ devices..

did not work on XSP 4.3 stock
may be it has something to do with androidmanifest xml file.
probably work after changing minsdkversion from 19 to 16 as all 4.3 devices have minsdkversion='"16" in thier apks
I am trying to change but couldnt parse that xml.
Port it for 4.1 pls

may be by changing the minsdkversion to 16 in androidmanifest.xml might work for 4.3 ??

@sourabhp You change the sdk version not in androidmanifest.xml
Do this
Decompile the apk, then open the decompiled folder and then open apktool-yml with notepad ++ and then change the min sdk version to 16.
I cant do this cause I dont have 4.3 or 4.4 framework so getting errors while recompiling.
Please if someone is on 4.4+ do this.

when I change it, the encoding of the file changes as I am on windows. and dont have sdk
also I read a tut by rizal. he said it should be changed in both files to work properly using android sdk
so waiting for someone to port it.

Nope. need apktool.jar, aapt, android sdk
changing only in apktool.yml does not reflect changes in androidmanifest.xml as this file is in binary form and windows cant decode it without sdk

How is java important, android is based on java, an .apk is just a modified .jar and there are tools to change a .jar into an .apk so a jre or java vm isnt required
Nice. Can this use for website that require java applet security?

Why is there no java.apk in this zip file? Also, recovery throws up an error: Unable to find "system/customize/MNS/52099.xml" in Manifest file or something like that when tried to flash this zip..
I get an error for a missing file system/customize/MNS/52099.xml and then it says verification failed... anyone know how to fix this

I'm trying to modify framework-res.apk and I am able to decompile it. I modified styles.xml and colors.xml. My problem is that I can't compile it back. I'm getting a lot of errors when I try to. I'm using the latest version of apk multi-tool. I'll post the logs later because I'm on phone right now, but anyone has any idea of what might be causing the problem? Any help is appreciated.

umm...I always failed when using stock framework-res.apk. after that I try to copy the same framework-res.apk to c:users/<username>/apktool/framework/ then rename it to 1.apk. I don't know why, but it works.
@evanlocked: I thought both apk manager and apktool are actually same program. the difference is only on its interface. IMO it doesn't matter which one did everyone choose.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was able to compile it successfully with apk manager. Now my problem is that I can't push it via adb. Says no devices found, although when not in recovery it works fine enough. Any ideas or alternative methods to push framework-res?

Im using APK Tool and no prob. at all when de/re-compile .apk
The question is...
Why after recompile the signed/unsigned .apk the size always smaller than the original .apk? Is that normal? Tho even smaller its installable and work

and folder framework-res is empty.
How to solved??
Make sure you're using the most up-to-date apktool and aapt files,
check that you've installed all your framework files before decompiling and
do nothing if you're on 4.2. apktool isn't fully compatible with 4.2. yet.

Chances are that you havent loaded the correct framework
If it is a touchwiz rom (based on stock rom) you also need to load tw-framework using the if command
Also some roms are compiled with framework of a higher version than the rom eg compiled with jellybean framework so load that framework-res instead eg from cm10
But the chances are its because you didnt also load the tw framework from the rom
Also please note that questions should be posted in the question and answe section

No - much better to learn how to do it yourself else how are you going to mod it & recompile it or do anything else in the future
If you can't decompile it you are most likely using the wrong framework-res.apk - use framework-res.apk from cm10
Without screenshot of your cmd window I can't see how you are trying to do it
Full guide in my signature - Just use correct framework-res.apk - note just because it's a Gingerbread rom doesn't mean it was built with Gingerbread framework - so if it doesn't decompile use cm10 framework
