Sideload Ouya Store on any android Device - Ouya General

i originally posted the steps on the thread below
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/general/ouya-store-amazon-fire-tv-t2806575
I was able to install the Ouya store on the Amazon Fire TV but you can grab those apks and install it on any android device, press the home key and select the ouya launcher (there is an ouya app that gets install that wont work because it checks your device) log in with your Outa account.

Amazing work. I used it to install it to my Note 3. It worked fine and I can install games and everything. Only one problem; the controller is completely messed up. Is there anyway to properly configure the controller, so that the "O" is actually "O", etc...?
Thanks in advance...

You need to be rooted. Copy the OUYA controller kl file to your system/usr/keylayout/ folder on your note then reboot. That should map your OUYA controller the same on your device as it is on the OUYA.
Here's a link to download the kl file.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9mcZwWJuSpBRjNqRDVvWlhNOWs/edit?usp=sharing

I went to the keylayout folder on the OUYA and founds many kl files, which one should I transfer to my phone?

I added a download link to my post above. I believe it is vendor_2836_product_0001.kl.

I added the file but do I need to delete the rest of the files? I tried to play The Amazing Frog (the kids love it), but the frog keeps rounding around itself and the L and R buttons do not work as supposed. I will still try to other games and report back...

Make sure you put the file in the correct location then reboot. The kl file won't be loaded until you have restarted your device. I've only tried 10-15 games on my tablet so far but haven't ran into any problems yet. Don't delete any of the other files, they are for different controllers.

I found out what I was doing wrong; the permissions of the kl file. They were totally off and when I when I changed them to rw-r--r-- , it went fine and everything worked great.
The problem is still in the menu button. It goes directly to the home screen, but that's pretty much acceptable at this point.
Again, I wanna say thank you so much for your support...

Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Somehow I've never had that problem. I haven't had the permissions change on me when copying. It's always been my own file though used through the cloud so maybe that has something to do with it. Glad you got it working.
On a side note. My nexus 5 running android l didn't like the ouya launcher. Probably because of art. The first time I ended up in a boot loop but it could have also been a combination of me messing with other stuff too.

Couldn't have done it without you. If you find a solution for the "U" main center button, let me know. It acts as "home" button and always takes me to the home screen.

What are you wanting that button to be set as? You can change it to be whatever kind of button input you want in the kl file. Just open it in a text editor.

It should represent the menu button, not the home button. I'll try playing with the kl file and let you know.
By the way, I use the baxy launcher instead of the normal ouya launcher. This way, I keep my home launcher as it is and then use this app as a launcher for the store. I guess I read in your thread for the fire TV that you need to disable the home launcher to be able to launch the ouya one. Try that out...

For some reason every time I try to install the apk's I get a parsing error. Has anyone else encountered this? I've redownloaded the zip multiple times with the same problem each time.

Does it let you unzip the package? I haven't ever tried to extract it. Just open in es and you can install them without extracting.
Here's another link to the zip to try.

I have a rooted Nook HD+ and I'm using Nova launcher. I have tried downloading directly to the device and also transferring the apks from my PC. That link you provided yields the same results unfortunately but thanks for trying.

Could be the stock nook rom. Even rooted it doesn't work with a lot of hacks. There's some good ROMs for it if you have a custom recovery.

I had a Nook HD before and I had a CM ROM on it and it worked like a charm. Don't fear it, just do a backup before trying anything. It turned it into a real tablet. I returned to the stock only to sell it.
Anyway, here are the apks without zipping. Who knows?

a quick little trick to get some nice apps that samsung only gives to i9000

heres a way to get a couple nice apps for free that samsung thinks the i9000 guys should have but not us (asphalt 5, krazy kart racing), theres also an updated version of task manager, and a few others that i wasnt interested in. if your using your stock build.prop file and open the samsung apps, it will show an updated version of our camera app but i have not updated it yet but i will report back when i do. but to get all the nice apps, you have to temporarily replace your build.prop file with the one ive attatched. also download the samsungapps.apk ive included and put it onto your sd card and install it. download the build.zip ive attached and extract the build.prop file to your desktop.
so now with root explorer, go to /system and long press and copy your build.prop file and paste it to your internal sd to back it up. long press again and rename it to build.prop.bak or whatever you want.
now put the build.prop that you got from me and put it on your sd card. now go back into root explorer, long press on the build.prop that you just put on the sd and copy it. now you want to paste it in /system and click yes to overwrite the one you have. reboot your phone. under settings- about phone there should be some of the version info changed and all that(thats all this does). now if you open the samsung app store that you installed you will see a few apps available for free. install what you want, then just delete your modded build.prop on your sd card(or save it to your pc or whatever in case they add some more stuff so you can do this again) rename your original build.prop.bak to what it is supposed to be(build.prop) and do the same-copy this file, paste it in /system to overwrite the modded one, reboot, and now your back to how you were just with some nice free games or whatever else you downloaded. everytime you switch between these files for downloading things from the samsung app store, go into applications, find the samsungappstore.apk and delete the data and cache so it will reset to your current version.
this is a long post but it takes less than 5 min.lol
you could also do this with adb but if you dont know how to use adb do it this way.
This is cool, I didn't really know what the build.prop file did, little things like this help me put the pieces together. I also notices that swype won't work with your build.prop file. Maybe why it won't work in ported i-9000 and vibrant roms that I've tried.
Also the proper version of asphalt is great. Hardware acceleration makes a difference. The lighting effects are much beyer than the version in the market.

really? i dont know how that file would affect anything like that, but either way that build.prop file is just so you can get the apps. i didnt try anything with it, just replaced it with my original as soon as i was done doing what i wanted with it after i messed with it.
ya and its were like the red headed step child to samsung compared to the i9000, but thats to be expected.

I tried your way, and the Asphalt5 app downloaded and installed, but when run, all it does is play the intro video. Does that app actually work for you. The Krazy Kart Racing App worked for me, but Asphalt5 just won't do it.

You have to go to settings/applications/Samsung apps and autorize new application notification in I9000. When you are notified that the application is ready for you to install, you will be able to click and install. Please note asphalt is a huge file and will eat up a lot of download time. It is strongly recommend you use wi fi for asphalt and not packet notification.
What version is the task manager that is included in this? My phone has version 1.11
Also, any difference in the camera update?

The system was authorized for notification, the app did fully download through WiFi (all 70 MB of it), it did ask me to install, and I installed it successfully without incident (which is what my post already implied). It is shows up in the application list, but when I start it, there is a dialog box that pops up in the background and closes before I can read what it says. After this, all that starts is the intro video, which actually plays through the phone's movie player application. The game itself never launches. Have you actually spoofed your Captivate to be an i9000, downloaded Asphalt 5 through SamsungApps, and then run it successfully. If you have a market bought full version of the game, that doesn't count. I am thinking that this game has some additional security measures that prevent it from being launched.

yup, thats why i said in my original post just to use this for getting the apps, then switch back to your original. with the original, the samsung app store app will not let you download any of the good stuff. so just use this to get what samsung gives the i9000 users for free, and then switch back to your original.

You do all this on the phome right? Not copy paste on the computer?

[Q] no working market on stock 3.2 ROM

Hi
Having some physical AZERTY keyboard issues with Taboonay 2.2 (great ROM), I decided to come back to stock 3.2 ROM, wich I did (downloading it from here).
But the problem now is that my market does not want to download anything, keeping stuck on "Preparing to download" or something like that...
Did some of you have this issue ?
How to solve it ?
Thanks
Nico
Restart the device, log into Gtalk and then try downloading from the market.

Not normally, but I've had to use that trick on a G1, a Wildfire and a Desire.

Might need a different version of the market app. If the above trick doesn't help, let me know, and I'll get you a good working version with instructions how to install it. I sometimes get that same error (stuck at downloading), but usually I have to cancel it several times, and eventually it get's going. Pretty sure with me, it's the Market site. They've only put out about 50 different versions of it, and when you get one that works, disable the auto update. Hopefully that stops it from updating to a newer version that doesn't work.

Ok, here is the market app I use.
I'm an old fashioned guy, so heed the instructions,
I assume you are rooted.
1. Using root explorer, or a file manager that has root access, rename you current "vending.apk" to like "oldvending.apk"
2. copy my market.apk into system/app folder.
3. Rename the market.apk to vending.apk (you probably need to only change the first name).
4. With your file manager, you can check the permissions (long press). Make sure your vending.apk has the same permissions as other files in the directory. Click the box as needed.
5. Reboot your tablet.
6. Go to Settings/applications/application manager, and delete the cache's.
7. This will make you log in to google market again when you start the app.
Should work, as the same version works for me.
EDIT: XDA, seems not to be able to handle attachments just now. They seem overloaded...... They can only handle about 200 users at any one time.

Assuming you used the latest TouchNooter, Super Manager should work. I think SM is new from the version of TN that I last used.
Or, once Market is working, download your favorite.

That seems to be a problem some people have and others don't. What version of the B&N firmware are you running?

This may be related to the B&N firmware version you're running. Apparently, the NST v1.1.0 has known problems with some 802.11n networks, WPA2 settings and various other random wifi issues. I don't believe TN touches wifi, so it shouldn't have changed.
would you say go ahead, if i say i'm gonna restore the factory settings with the backup and root again?
and yes, i rooted with the latest touchnooter (the link u posted)

Android 4.3 Needs To Bring Back The Default Browser!

I love my new Nexus 7 but the lack of the default Browser is rather painful for me to do without. Does anyone else miss that Browser? The ability to never see the address bar as it frees up screen real estate as well as the Quick Controls, which I find are superior to any browser on Google Play, are the main reasons I want to see this browser back on Android 4.3. I already tried to install BrowserGoogle.apk and it just will not install. I wonder is anyone up to making this work for 4.3?

You can't just install the standard browser like other apk's:
Once you have root, remount /system rw.
Copy the browser.apk I linked before to /system/apps
Rename browserproviderproxy.apk and .odex to something else
Ensure the permissions on browser.apk are 664 (rw-rw-r--)
Reboot
ES file explorer can be used for everything if you're not comfortable doing it from a shell session.

I've used that app myself before, works great HOWEVER the version linked above is from 4.3 rather than 4.2.2. It doesn't look like the app has been updated for 4.3 yet.
There aren't any noticeable changes in the 4.3 version though anyway as far as I can tell, so whatever works for you really.

Im not sure I follow your logic.
The APK it installs is from 4.0 for the browser and the Flash is from ICS....What difference does it make if the app to install it is for 4.2.2..Almost every single App I have installed from playstore is from 4.2 or bellow....Not to mention Most of these peeps here wont even want to change the name of an app, then place it in a folder, then change its permissions. Hell just the fact that this thread was started shows that most won't even search for the how to.

I'm not talking about the app to install it, I'm talking about the version of browser.apk the app installs. I didn't realise it was the 4.0 version of browser installed, I assumed it would be the version taken from aosp 4.2.2 and would be updated to install the version from 4.3 shortly. Why isn't it installing the latest version of browser available? Only reason I can think of is for compatability maybe?
Similarly, I would always reccomend downloading the latest version of flash directly from the adobe website than using some apk posted on xda, personally. If people can't be bothered and the shortcut methods work fine for them then great! But there's no harm in giving the info on how to do it manually. Knowledge is power!

I appreciate it guys but when I was trying to root, I got my new Nexus 7 stuck on Fastboot mode screen. It's no longer recognizing USB through the PC. I can't pull the battery, power + - vol doesn't work. Is this thing bricked?

Sorry... I had to hold power + - vol a little while longer. It's up now. Thanks for your help. I'm going to do some thorough research so I can properly root this thing.

You are welcome.
This is perfect thanks for posting. Sadly I have three websites I use for work that are flash intensive.
So much flaming, so little time.
Take it elsewhere kids. Unless it relates to helping the OP get an AOSP browser, do not post it.
Do you know anything about the AOSP Browser Installer in the Play Store ?
What is this browser ?
I installed it and it took 5 minutes the the device to reboot ... then it seemed to factory reset my device kinda ... all the google apps were older from when I updated recently. Also, every app that had been purchased was gone ... I had to re-install and it gets worse before I could re-install I had to go into the /data/data folder and delete the paid app's folder then it would install ... not sure why this happened it was a pain to do this, is their any tool that could have fixed this ?
Google should have never removed it from these devices on the stock ROMs. Chrome even today is still not as smooth.

Arena of Valor can't be installed

Hey everyone,
This is not a super important question, but it still irritates me. I wanted to try out the game Arena of Valor (which hit the German PlayStore recently) and play a round with some friends. But it turns out it apparently can't be installed. (My friends running the default roms on their phones (Huawei etc.) Have no issues at all)
I have an Axon7 running one of the latest Resurrection Remix Builds and I am rooted using Magisk. I have not experienced any other problems with downloading or installing apps from the PlayStore.
But whenever I tap on download, the download of the game starts and (since it is a rather large one) takes a while (I get the normal download bar and everything). Then after a while it says "installing" for another like 5 minutes to then suddenly give me an error message which reads as follows (rough translation from German):
" App can not be downloaded.
'Arena of Valor ..... Game' (full name of the game) can not be downloaded. Please try again. If the issue remains you can get help from the Probelmsolving article. (Code of error: 492) "
So obviously I tried again (for like 15 times now), I also tried rebooting my phone several times and I did search the code of error online and found out that it's supposed to be google-related and clearing the cache of the PlayStore and services could fix this, but it did not for me.
At this point I'm pretty confused, since I can install any other app (I've tried so far) just fine and I am now wondering why this would be. Could it be an issue with root, but then again I'd think it would tell me, as other apps did before. Does any one else have this issue or the app successfully installed on their device? Or does anyone have an idea what could cause my problem and fix this? Thanks for any help in advance!
Cheers

Just tried to download it. It worked fine, installed, started up OK. I'm on stock 7.1.1. B05 (A2017G). I'd suggest You to find the game's .apk somewhere (there are some sites hosting android apps) and try to download/install from there.

Hey thanks for your feedback! I already did that as well... should have added it above :/ I downloaded from apkmirror and another site and got it to start nad was asked to give permissions, but after that everytime a pop-up showed up telling me to download again from google play, since there was some kind of error. So that didn`t do the trick either for me.

Well, I'd say I thought so it'd do that, but it did worth a shot. I'm sorry it didn't help.
Edit: Just got something on my mind. On ine of the stock updates (can't remember which one) download from the Play Store was really, I mean REALLY slow through Wi-Fi. But I realized that if I simply start the download then put the phone in 'sleep' mode by pressing the power button, the download speed is just turns back to normal. It was pretty obvious during big downloads. It was really slow (shown 30 minutes or so for finish), then I just pressed power, checked on it in a couple of minutes and download was done. I don't know why it did this, but it worked every time, maybe you should try that. Other than that, go back to stock. jk.

I guess that app has obb too, so you should install an FTP server on your phone and an FTP client on one of your friends' phones, then go to /sdcard/Android/obb/ and copy the folder of the game to the same place on your phone

Lol no, what Play store does is just download the apk from a database and install it on your phone, then download whatever extra files the app needs. If you bought the app it will also provide authentication in case that it needs to get it.
So basically you can do the same process manually (as long as it's free) by downloading the apk and the obb, then moving the obb folder (named com.devname.appname) to /sdcard/Android/obb/.
Otherwise you can try wiping Play store's cache and try to download it, and if that still doesn't do anything delete its data.
Just checking, is your Axon 7 a Chinese version- the A2017?
I have had trouble downloading large data files for games on this from playstore too... It might have something to do with the fact that google had to be installed from other places and google has a security issue with our devices...
After a few updates, currently on B08, it works. Can download apps that failed prior to this update...

No I have the G-Model. So I don't think that should be the issue. But still thanks for the thought!

Ok thanks a lot! Will try to do that, once I come home today and report back if it worked
Just to learn something again, what exactly is OBB? And if I download the apk I don't have the obb with it automatically?
And I`m having trouble copying/moving the folder into obb (apparantly this is not supposed to be done)
Is there a way to do it?

Just move it lol
Where did you get the obb folder from? Try root browser, even if you don't have root.
The obb is just additional files that the app uses. I guess they need to do that because you's have to download the whole thing if they just updated the app like they usually do. So for a 3 GB game you might only need to download ~100 mb instead of the whole 3 GB when you update it

OBB files are basically the data files., just in a different format. The Obb files will come in a separate folder if the whole thing isn't RAR'ed or Zipped up...
You should have games apk file and a separate folder with OBB files inside.

Well I am rooted (Magisk) but ES Explorer is unable to enable the root functions for some reason even though it has Superuser rights in Magisk... And solid explorer as any other I've tried so far won't move files to the obb folder.
And I got the file from the phone of a friend as suggested

Again, try Root browser (the old one won't be able to move stuff to the SD card, but it's even better than the new one). Much better than those two... ES explorer is the worst bloated piece of crap there is.

I agree with you on ES , and tried out the new root browser which leaves a really good first impression! Didn't know of this app so far, so thanks for pointing it out!
But I still can't do it... I'll attach a short screen capture of what is happening for me

Yeah , it seems storage permission was disabled for Play Store and I enabled it and now it works.
