[Q] 4.4.4 & youtube - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the update to 4.4.4 fix the issue with youtube? I have a rooted N10 but have not done much else with it. I am running 4.4.3. Youtube will not work. The problem is not just my N10 but I have a Driodpro phone running 2.3 and it also will not show youtube videos.

I've been on 4.4.4 for a week now but use an alternate YouTube player call Viral and am not having issues. I actually have the pro version. In the settings there is a checkbox for HD acceleration. Not sure if that can help. I like it's interface which allows color and fonts can be themed.

I've used Purity, Rastakat, and Liquidsmooth 4.4.4 & no problems with YouTube.
Edit: Spoke too soon. Having force closes on YouTube app with Liquidsmooth ROM

Netflix released for Nexus s and some HTC phones

So I just read on Engadget for several phone including the NS I have the NS4G and I am not able to download the app any one else having this issue?
Market link to Netflix.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient&hl=en
I was able to download it just fine but its not working for me. Says its not compatible, must be because I'm on a custom ROM.
Streams great, even over 3G.
My life is now complete.
Works fine for me. NS4G, stock rooted.
Working fine for me on stock.
Could this be USA only? Not seeing this in the market. Link doesn't work either.

G2 running MIUI and netflix doesn't work for me. Dunno if its the rom, android 2.3.4 or both. The tv show plays only audio, then quits after ~10s
Installed and streaming quite well running on stock.

NS running Nscollab 1.0.22 and i get the "not supported" pop-up
I knew there had to be a reason I was running stock. I mean, besides the fact that I can't get the dev kit running on my computer. >.>
Tried to install from the Market, but it's not available in Canada. Bummer..
Any way to try the APK on a Canadian Nexus S ?

I installed boat browser from the play store and flash works ok with it. Think there is also an AOSP browser for 4.2 in the forum somewhere, it should work with it also.
Works with Boat but on mine crashes full screen. I can't get the stock browser to work at all - just crashes on starting it.
Did not work in boat brower

AOSP browser crashes, boat also crashes and firefox beta as well on playing flash in full screen. It worked on AOSP in 4.1.2
I must say it crashes on some sites and for some it works well

Netflix stuttering on cm10.1 nightly 6/19 with direct inject 1.0.2

Hey I'm running the 06/19 nightly with project direct inject 1.0.2 and I'm not sure if this is rom related or not but I'm getting some really weird stuttering going on while running my Netflix app. at first I thought it was Internet related but I turned everything off Internet related except my nexus 7 and it still was happening. then I thought app related but it runs just fine on my Samsung epic touch 4g no stutter so now I'm kinda at a loss I've uninstalled and reinstalled it to no avail. Anyone else having this problem? I really don't want to start from scratch with this tablet but I use Netflix a lot on here and the stuttering at times makes video almost unwatchable every 5-10 seconds. Any/all help is much appreciated.

Apparently this was a software problem after all and has been fixed (st least on my n7) by Netflix

I too had this problem. I tried running like 4 different roms and still had the netflix stutter. I just updated to the newest version of the Netflix app today and no stutters.

[CM11] Problem with Chrome and Youtube

Hello guys!
I don't know if this is a common bug or problem but from a few weeks I have problem with Youtube and Chrome on CM 11. When I'm using Chrome it refreshes page every few minutes. I'm not sure what is the time between one and next refresh but it's like that all the time. This same is with Youtube. When I'm watching movie it stops afer a *few* seconds and I have to play it again.
Is this is a problem with GApps (?) because on Firefox web browsing is working fine? Is this is a problem with new Android 4.4.2? On my HTC One everything is working fine...
This bug is driving me crazy so if someone could help me...
It is not a issue with Chrome on stock KitKat so I suspect it is either a problem in Gapps or your build of CM11. I always remove YouTube so I can't speak to that issue.

The Youtube app is kind of pointless for me so I usually just convert it to a user app and remove it then access YouTube via browser.

[Q] Audio & video out of sync

Hi guys, I have small but annoying issue with my Nexus 10:
When watching a video (in any app, including youtube) the audio and the video are slightly out of sync. This is noticeable even for the smallest file and gets a lot worse at 2gb+ movies. I understand the tablet has to cope with this huge resolution but even with 100mb videos? I noticed this on 4.4.2 but it's the same on 4.4.4.
Now, I wonder could somebody recommend a ROM where this issue is not present? I heard SlimKat was pretty good for example but I dont know how it handles video playback.
Thanks in advance

Anyone? I also wonder if custom kernel would help
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
I never had this issue. You could try to use a custom kernel. If that doesnt work I suggest you try out f2fs.

Hmm strange that mine would be different from any other out there..anyways i'll try, thanks for the tips!

That is strange. Have you downloaded a video and tried watching it directly from your N10? This would maybe rule out a slim chance of an internet or wifi issue. I only say this because I had a weird issue with my wifi that was causing slow and strange results including audio/video out of sync.
What are you currently running - i.e. kernel and ROM?

Ah yes, also for downloaded files. And it gets worse with larger files.
I'm running stock 4.4.2. Maybe Lollipop will fix it..Btw I've found Dice Player in the meantime, which has audio offset functionality - this was the quickest fix for now

Hi,
When playing some super high quality videos I face this problem too. But on KitKat update and using MX Player SW decoder I can play any file without problems. I suggest you to try it!
