I know there are some talks about using a direct mini USB to him to rca converter but they apparent only worked for old gs models. And since gs5 has USB 3.0, a complete different game. Does anyone know if the HML adapter still work or there are other ways easier to hook this thing up? I got a original Toyota in car DVD Player.
Thanks!

Olympus makes one for the 780 which comes with a mini-USB-to-RCA video/audio cable. If it is the right one, check a camera shop.
The port on our Kaisers are called mini usb right?
no and yes the sync and charge part is called mini usb
but htc's own connector which also carry audio is called extUsb
look at www.expansys.com for a converter even if all you can get is
an extusb to 3.5minijack then a minijack to rca is pretty easy to get
Or you could get a SonyEricsson MBR-100. It will connect via bluetooth to your Kaiser for audio out and comes with RCA leads as well as giving a 3.5mm output for use with headphones.

Analog audio output on a USB connector is NOT a defined part of the USB specification. As a result implementations of it are manufacturer specific.
95%+ chance the Olympus adapter will not work with HTC devices.
The best bet is likely a ExtUSB-3.5mm + 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter.
Edit: Or an A2DP (Bluetooth stereo) to RCA adapter.
Im just going to go this route: ExtUSB-3.5mm + 3.5mm-to-RCA adapter.
thanks for everyones input!

my search led me to this. if it fits the razr, it should fit a kaiser!

Yep, it will fit. But it won't work.

I had a RAZR adapter lying around and tried it with my Kaiser. No go. Had to buy an HTC-specific adapter.
I was at the car stereo place and found nearly every headunit with a USB port in the front saying that it is compatible with an iPod or iPhone. Question is, have any of you guys tried hooking it up to a Android device? Does it charge? Will it fry my cellphone? I'm leaning towards a Kenwood headunit but just wondering if there are any precautions. Thank you

You should be fine. I doubt it would damage the phone as most smart phones have similar power requirements/charging methods these days. The iPhone's cables are just normal USB cables with a special plug on one end and an Apple logo so they can charge more. Most things labelled "For iPhone/iPod" work just fine on Android devices.
Anyone with a USB port on their headunit using a Android phone?
My Honda has a USB port for the stereo. It does not allow the me to use the phone to control audio through USB as this is not supported like it is on iPod (same with any Android phone, has nothing to do with Nexus S in particular) but it does work in Mass Storage Mode and allows me to control audio through the head unit.
All of this is moot anyway as the best solution is to use a car mount and connect through the 3.5m stereo out to the AUX input. I can then not only use Last.fm and Navigation sounds through the stereo, but also phone call audio gets passed through. It's pretty much awesome and makes me glad I did not spend the extra $1200 on the in dash GPS/touchscreen head unit with bluetooth.
Hi Everyone,
I plugged my A7 through the HDMI port to my projector, it works with no issues whatsoever! But the sound jack doesn't work once the HDMI is plugged. Is there a way to force the sound to work even if HDMI is plugged in? Or even the speakers?
Thank you,
Marc
I have run into this issue with other devices, not the A7 yet though.
Once HDMI was connected the device only wanted to send audio over it and disabled all others.
My projector had RCA L/R out, but no internal speakers.
What I ended up having to do was get a RCA -> headphone jack adapter from Radio Shack and use regular PC speakers from that.
Probably not the solution you were looking for, but I hope it helps.
Possible solution
The option I'm looking at right now is an HDMI switch. It has 2 inputs for HDMI and outputs 4 HDMI and an RCA. I'm not really insterested in dishing out the 70$ for it though.
I have a slimport cable and it works great for connecting to my tv and watching stuff, but, I've just bought a new car which has a half decent screen in it (well, slightly better than the phone) and I know other android phone users have had video playing on that screen. to do it they need the phone to do all the processing (car screen to be just a dumb screen) and they use the car's usb input. So, I'm wondering ...is there any kind of slimport to usb instead of hdmi cable, or is there a male hdmi to male usb adapter that I could use to connect my slimport to the car usb slot? ideally something that's cheap as I won't know if it will work until i plug it in.
thanks for any ideas.
Hey just acquired an essential phone but it didn't come with the audio jack anyone know an alert antivenin that works I tried two active adapters from eBay but they both don't work.. Any suggestions TIA
Check this thread:

There are quite a few suggestions there for adapters that are confirmed working with PH-1.
It has to be an adapter with a built in DAC. (the more expensive kind)
there are other phones that basically use just a converter cable and output analog audio through the USB C port, since those are just changing USB C to a headphone jack they are pretty common and cheap.
The essential phone outputs digitally to a USB digital audio converter chipset built into the converter rather than just straight analog audio.
So just make sure the adaptor you are looking at says it has a built in DAC and it should work.
sometimes they dont list it though so if you are going for a cheap one then you may have to rely on someone in the reviews having an essential phone.
most razer phone and google pixel adaptors work but I'd still verify they have a DAC, sometimes amazon listings will just list a whole slew of compatible phones.
