What baseband/firmware were you on before? If you had the MJA baseband and firmeware on up you can't downgrade to MF9 firmware

Your odin flashing sequence failed. Repeat the odin flash procedure with that screen up until successful. Make sure you're plugged into at least a usb2.0 port on your computer, and using the original usb cable that came with the phone.
If you're unsure of what baseband you originally had, your best bet is to flash the latest firmware
If you can't get the latest tar to install using odin, try to run cf autoroot through odin. It has been known to fix that error,
The OP should really come back online and let us know of he has been able to fix the problem.

Currently the odin stocks we have for 2.3.3 are only for the i9023. I suppose that ur friend has the i9020 if his screen is now black.
good news , dont worry,u can fix it.
it happened to me twice already( intentionally as i was curious of the 9023 built)
all he has to do is enter the download mode and flash the correct rom for it. Note that he wont be seeing anything except a black screen but if he did the steps right, then he should get the download mode without any problem and then when u plug the usb and u see the small yellow rectangle....com... , you know you are good to go!
Find Solution !!!
it happened to me (I have a I9020)
Just boot back into download mode
and then flash the phone again with Odin

Yesterday we got our hands on the latest leaked stock firmware I9000XXJVS for Samsung Galaxy S cellphone, if you are wondering how to get this flashed onto your device here is the answer.
DOWNLOAD LINK : http://hotfile.com/dl/129538506/0a079c6/I9000XXJVS.rar.html
PASSWORD : samfirmware.com
Use the ODIN flashing utility and make sure to browse for all the files and use settings as shown below to have a successful flash.
PIT : s1_odin_20100512.pit
PDA : CODE_I9000XXJVS_CL565837_REV03_user_low_ship.tar
PHONE : MODEM_I9000XXJVS_REV_00_CL1059471.tar
CSC : GT-I9000-CSC-MULTI-OXAJVS.tar

Make sure to have re-partition, Auto Reboot, F. Reset Time and Phone Bootloader Update settings checked before starting the process.

Is it absolutely necessary to use a PIT file and re-partition if we're flashing from JVQ?

nope; not even neccessary when flashing from a 2.2 f/w.
Why you open new thread, because we have all tutorial here:

Right. It's spam: promoting one's site, eh! Should be banned, otherwise XDA will be full of these.
This topic is completely useless. Stop spamming with this odin guide **** .... Everybody knows how to flash a new fw
not everybody knows how to flash new firmware.

Then they can refer to one of the numerous other guides available, the original point still is that this thread is redundant.

Please told me your phone model and what problem is that? you flash the root file and the firmware gone?
It wont happen like that what have you flash please write more detail
It's a basic question that you should learned yourself before jumping into this.
Always learn what to do before anything goes wrong. Let this be a lesson for you.
The solution is really simple:
Just flash a stock firmware.

Hey all,
I am running one of JKRuze's ROMS and have been for over a year. It's basically a slightly modified, non-rooted version of Android 7.0. My spotify has quit working, and one of the final questions their support team asked me is if I am running a modified OS on my phone. ****. So, I need to go back to stock. I tried following a method on here, but it failed to Odin. Anyone know if there is a thread around here with best method to get back to stock?
ODIN is the only method i know, never failed for me. try downloading files again( personally using U firmware)
Where can I get the latest U firmware? I have not been able to find a reliable link.

Yeah, I went to that link from another post last night, and for the life of me, could not figure out how to download. I hate when sites do that. Hide the download link in some obscure location with a bunch of other buttons with the word download in big letters that just lead you to some other bogus garbage...

Thanks.. That link says it is for SM-G935U. I've got the SM-G935V, will it still work?
Please help. I thought I had installed stock, but now my phone will not connect to cellular data. Data link seems fine.
Update... Never mind, I believe I have it figured out. I did not add the BL, CP, and CSC slots via odin.
