[Q] 301 Bad IMEI - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All..
I am in some serious problems and i can't help what should i do.
I purchased a galaxy s4 gt-I9500 from a shopping mall in Muscat Oman. It worked for about 2 months, then it said "no service" i was told that somehow the IMEI was bad. In fact, the IMEI inside the hardware was different from the sticker. I am looking for someone to repair the IMEI from remote if possible.
The IMEI inside the mobile phone is 004999010640000 its different form the one on the box.
Kindly help what should i do? As it was my first ever cellphone to buy..i have been collecting money for it since my first Job T_T

IMEI Blocked Galaxy Note 3

All,
I recently purchased a Galaxy Note III in Australia.
A few hours later, I left my phone in the local KMART counter by accident. After searching for the phone for a whole day. I reported my phone as lost to my carrier and they IMEI blocked my phone.
2 days later, the local KMART store called me to let me know that someone has handed in my phone in.
I called up my carrier to let them know I found the phone, unfortunately however I was advised after 24 hours of the phone being reported as lost or stolen and IMEI blocked it cannot be restored/undone.
I am now stuck with a dead Galaxy Note III that I cannot use to make calls and a 24 month contract I cannot cancel with my carrier.
Can someone please help guide me the process I need to follow in order to change IMEI number on my phone permanently?
I have seen several guides on the internet however they are related to the S3/Note II and nothing on the Note III.
I'm really needing someone to help me with this. I appreciate the help.

It is illegal to change the IMEI of a phone in Oz... No-one here on XDA will give you those instructions....
If u are the ph owner with proof ...then go shout bang and whatever at yr carrier and ask them to fix or replace the unit.
Teleported from my SM-N9005 from the Enterprise
They wont do it. It's my fault and it can't be unblocked.
Can be unblocked
Since You Purchase the Handset on Contract, Just go back to the original Store of Purchase and explain the situation to them.
They will have all your details on the Computer. (Your Name, Address, IMEI of Handset.) They can make a call or give you the Information to prove Ownership.
I saw this on many occasions. Customers misplacing handsets and having them Blocked only to find them after a frantic search.
If You can show Proof of Ownership IT CAN BE UNBLOCKED.
I used to work for Telstra and know for a fact that they can be unblocked. Just need to prove that You are the Original Owner and have a Store Receipt and/or Contract Details.

Discussing, advertising, advocating changes or replacement of imei numbers is not allowed on XDA.

Help just bought galaxy s4 i337

Hello there XDA! I have a dilemma I bought a used Samsung galaxy s4 i337 from a guy locally and I tried to downgrade the firmware using Odin and I somehow missed up the Wifi because it would not turn on. Long story short I sent the phone to Samsung because it was still under warranty and they replaced the motherboard and sent it back. Upon receiving the device I went to pop in my buddy's AT&T similar (I have metro pcs) and it gave the MM#2 error. I checked the IMEI online and it shows blacklisted/stolen on checkesnfree. So pretty much this guy sold me the phone reported it stolen then used the money to get another through insurance probably. What are my options at this point. I know IMEI change is illegal but is it easy to just swap out motherboards on these devices? Anybody have a suggestion?
Someone was trying to do that with my S5 I had posted for sale. He was asking for the IMEI, serial, receipt, etc... he was for sure going to try to insure it, then report it stolen.

[Q] Is it possible to transfer EFS?

Hi guys
I was a really happy S4 user before I let it fall in the ground before my S4 died I backed up everything also EFS.
Anyway I bought a new Note 3 from a other country and the problem is the dealer told me that he changed the motherboard or removed the IMEI for some reason well I don't know exactly what he did with it and here I question is it possible to use the EFS of mine S4 to the note 3?
PS I still have the S4 and both of the phones are legal bought and I also don't know if I'm at the right topic
No you can't transfer from a completely different device and this is still illegal
Don't know why you'd want to change your imei when you have a working phone???

All transfers or change the IMEI is strictly illegal
you have an other problem with your IMEI (lost or other) return your device to SAV

Thanks for your reply , Even if the phone is legally mine ? BTW what is a SAV? a Samsung service point ? Well the funny thing is I did that but didn't got helped because they don't support the SM-N9005

IMEI changed, is something funny going on here?

I sent my i9506 off for repair and the seller (not Samsung) replaced the motherboard under warranty. It all looked good, expect for network drop outs that I am still trying to resolve, but I noticed the IMEI and serial number have changed. OK, they changed the motherboard, so I understand that, but when I put the IMEI into www.imei.info it says the phone is a Wingfone W9300 not a Samsung i9506. Huh? The hardware looks fine, all tests say it is an i9506, antutu performance is great, etc, but is there something fishy with the IMEI that I should know about?
Yeah. The seller cloned the IMEI from a dead phone and put it on your device. Needless to say, not legal, even if the device they cloned the IMEI from was dead.
Every motherboard have it own imei and serial number.
So when u replaced your motherboard your imei has changed to the new one

If that were the case then the new IMEI would report as a Samsung phone. The new IMEI isn't from a Samsung phone, meaning the repair tech cloned an IMEI from a defunct phone.
OK, but the thing I don't get is why clone another IMEI? I assume the new motherboard is genuine, probably secondhand. It certainly looks and performs like the real deal, or is it a knock-off, and are there high spec knockoffs of flagship phones? It might be stolen, but this is a grey import phone from a big Hong Kong electronics retailer. They do the repairs and probably have a lot of used stock and parts lying around. If they are illegally trying to cover something up, why clone an IMEI from a non-Samsung phone? Why not just use a Samsung IMEI, or even use the original IMEI from my phone, which is what Samsung repair does when they replace a board.
The phone does have problems though. At first it all looked good, but it drops the network irregularly, and has trouble keeping a steady cell signal. I'm sending it back again.
No follow up? OK, here's my theory. Samsung repairs millions of their phones and whenever anything can't easily be fixed they replace the motherboard. Unit cost of a motherboard is way cheaper than labour in most countries, so just pull out the old one, whack in a new. But where do the old ones go? The crusher you would hope, but maybe they onsell them to another company like Wingfone, whose IMEI shows up in my replacement motherboard. Wingfone tests and repairs motherboards and on-sell them to other repairers, or perhaps for Chinese knockoff phones.
That's a good IT story, if it is true.

imei on device is different than under battery?

hello all , just got a used Note 4 , but i noticed that it doesn't want to be registered on any network , i checked imei and it was a number that begins with 3 , checked it on imei checker and found it's a waaay different phone , so i turned phone off , looked under battery , and whoa !! a different imei that begins with 3 as well .. im sure that this thing is the reason of no networks getting changed , but i don't know anything about fixing it .. what should i do?
note4 is known for issue with emmc so most likely in your case the motherboard has been replaced thus difference in imei. regarding not registering to any network, in some countries stolen phones are banned from network based on imei. do in worst case u have refurbished phone repaired using parts from stolen unit.
