To do so I have to travel to another country, which is impossible to me, also the seller is not professional enough to ship the device directly to him, its almost like a device with no warranty, thats why i'm trying with Sony.
appreciate your comments there to apply more pressure.
Thanks

Then your problem might be with your seller, not with Sony

Sorry to say this, but have to agree here. The problem is the seller, since your device isn't under warranty.

I kinda feel Sony Middle East just like to screw us over. I brought the Z2 and I didnt get anything extra with the device. I didnt get the NC headphones or the dock or the cover, literally nothing. I literally feel that sony middle east is screwing us over.
I believe u should just go to the dealer who u brought the device from. If u have the warranty card u can just scan it and send it to Sony. Probably calling them would yield better results

That is weird. I didnt get any thing. But then again I got it from Viva bahrain so kinda makes sense. But they should have thrown in something even the HTC M8 I got from viva had a case and a decent pair of earphones.

You're lucky, in Poland its the same.
In India they dump us with smartband which nobody really uses, case which i don't want and say its free when its not.
Am waiting to get a box just like you got. I can always buy these extras in the future if necessary.

Hahahaha If i were you I would just gladly take those accessories and sell them later on. At least there is some extra value. That's one of the main reason's I went for the Z2. Those extras do matter imo

Please, you are buying a phone not because it comes with stupid obligatory 'gifts' that you cannot refuse.
So many companies are doing this now because psychologically it works and you proved it. I always say how much gifts are worth. they say x, so i say give me without gifts and deduct x. But you know what they only reduce by 20%x or they refuse. So value of 'gifts' is a lie.
This was with Z1, with Z2 they put the gifts inside the box (!)
You are lucky.

I have W17 batch one also, and thinking about it, the only things I can actually say is that I experience the call quality thing (which I think can be fixed by a software) and also the gaps issue which has not really been big of a deal till now (Never dipped my phone in water however).
Camera is fine, back cover good, Flaps are great here... Sorry u go t unlucky mate... I'm actually in the same situation as u. Imported phone from regular "unprofessional retailer", no warranty. Till now, Z2 didn't launch in my country. So, yh!

i will let you know if the call quality issue is software related or not .. as mine is going back to the retailer for a "repair " i would imagine they will probably just pop a new mic in it , as im running .402 which at this moment in the UK is the latest software. i have also had a display issue with the screen jumping to different screens on its own,but its only done this the once.

So i didnt wanted to start a new thread. So ill post here . I also bought My new Xperia Z2 from Saudi Arabia. It was w20 model had screen gaps issue both on front and back . Bought it from Sony store and they said that it will not effect waterproofness of the device. Even then i was careful but after a month it was full of finger prints and i decided to wash it and unfortunately water went inside . All flaps were closed and i double checked it . When i took it to service center they said no warranty if water went inside and they will send it to Dubai please check back after 2 weeks.
I posted on Facebook as they may help me but this was their reply was we are sorry and nothing else
On twitter they are not even replying. and they just say contact service center and all i hear from them is excuses. there is not a single scrtach on my device. Unfortunately there is no refund or replacement system here. Really disappointed with Sony services. I saved money for 6 months for this device

does any one bought the z2 from sony in dubai ?!
my uncle bought me and I will get it by next week .
so I want to know the problems with this version of the device ( sony dubai ) .
sony stuff told my uncle to close the camera before putting the device in the water !! weird :/
it should be water resistant and we can take photos under water !!

Why the hell would you send your phone to Kuehne + Nagel? They are a major international freight forwarder. You shouldn't be sending packages like your phone through them, it makes no sense.
Edit: We use K&N at my work to ship/deliver 20ft and 40ft containers from Thailand to the USA all the time. I can only speak for their turn around time in this area...compared to our other forwarders K&N is about 10 days longer and slightly more expensive to all of our destinations. We stop using them this month

A Sony Ericsson approved service point is:

I'm afraid I don't know what their service is like as I have never used them.
However, please don't shout (use capitals), it lessens the chances further that you'll get a reasonable response.
I need by phone so badly cant believe they are telling me the parts are now out of stock god knows when i could get my fone back
What's gone wrong with it? I'd be gutted having to spend any time without it, I'm still considering sending mine back because of the so called "light leakage" on the screen.

i will call back on monday and check if it's been fixed or not...
This still seems weird, K&N is a logistics, freight company. They don't repair phones in house for Sony. If anything they may have some deal with Sony to send phones back to the factory to be repaired.
it has been a week since i posted my phone and they havnt even touched it yet!
i genuinely NOT recommend anyone sending in their xperia to k&n...

[Q] Q Cracked screen, repairs in Australia?

Hi guys I haven't been able to find any information about this on the Sony site, google, or on here.
My mate dropped his IPhone onto my Xperia Play my screen is demolished (very poorly built imo).
Would love to repair or replace the screen rather then buying a new unit any help would be greatly appreciated.
..... Poorly made??? There are a lot of people with broken iphone screens from dropping too.. What were you expecting? Titanium screens? There are second hand mobile phone stores that repairs screens.

Been ringing a few places none of them have anything for the Xperia Play.
Do sony have any repair centres?
A few digitisers listed on ebay if you want to diy
Get your m8 to fix it, as its his fault I'm guessing :-?
Yeah he'll be paying for it, but still trying to locate how and where to fix.
I think if I tried diy I'll end up with alot more broken then just the screen.
What about posting it to Sony for a fix ?

That sucks man, I have repaired many screens on phones, I own a play and looking at deconstruction its easier then a HD2... Buy a digitiser off ebay and DIY if you fail you could post it to me in Canberra and ill finish the job.
to DIY it appears to remove screws from back around battery etc, split that part, remove ribbons and main board, remove screen connector ribbon.
disconnect Rail screws
4 screws on back of screen, remove these split screen open.
I have just smashed my screen here on my XP in the UK. Not happy. Need somewhere to fix it. Don't fancy taking it apart.
Sony's "official" repair place in Melbourne is Fonebiz.
Took me about 20 rings before anyone answered the phone, they are unsure if they can replace/fix it or when they will have stock to do so, they are unsure of the price but they want 30 upfront for something that isnt guaranteed and I'll have the option to go through with it once they complete the "quote".
Not really happy with the above, even though I'm not going to be paying for the repair as it was my mate that smashed my screen, I was hoping for something more "official" then some random mobile phone repair company.

Samsungs Guaranty/Warranty

Afternoon all,
Last week i had to put in my phone for repair, fine cracks had appeared on the LED under the gorrila glass, thus making my screen blank and none responsive.
I wasnt holding my breath as i thought that it would come back with this answer, they came back saying this (this is though phones4u as that is who i purchased the phone with):
Unfortunately your phone appears to be Out of Warranty so we have raised the following estimate.
So i gave them a call to see how it could be out of warranty and they said even though it is inside the 12months as it is a cracked screen it isnt covered by the wrranty, this is classed as accidental damage.
Now this phone has never been dropped, it was got last april and is pretty much in perfect condition and have no idea how the cracks on the LED appered, after explaining all this i was told the same, it isnt covered as there is no way to prove it wasnt dropped or had extreme pressure put on it.
They gave me a quote of £71.99 to repair the phone and get it back to me, which i am paying. If i had cracked the screen by fault of my own i would think this a good price as i have seen replacement screens on ebay, ect for alot more.
I feel a little hard done by as i know nothing has happened to break my phone, i was just wondering how others feel. Do you think with the size and popularity of Samsung phones they should be offering something like apple loyalty replacement or something similar? or has anyone had better luck going though a different vendor?
Should have contacted Samsung directly instead of going through one of the rip off merchants.

I was told by the man in phones4u that it was being sent to Samsung but it seems to have gone to their repair people. :/
Do you think going to sammy direct would have gotten me a different answer or cheaper repair?

They probably would have given it a more close inspection, as to signs of possible drops or accidents.
That sucks. I'll be sure and steer clear of phones4u in the future, thanks for the heads up.

Dunno but I find it easier to deal directly with the manufacturer than the rip off merchants. When my tab had some dust under the screen within a few weeks of purchase PC World refused to exchange it and said I may need to pay for the repair. Told them to where to stick it and called Samsung directly and they sent a prepaid jiffy bag for the device and a form to fill and send it back to them. They repaired it free of charge and I got it back within a week of sending it off.
Thanks for the input Intratech, think this is a case of lesson learnt for any future problems (hoping there isnt any).
You are in that very difficult position accidental damage by user who of course claims not .Versus phone broke by itself
You could claim against the seller but after six months its up to you to provide the proof that its a manufacturing fault .
As said Samsung may well have been the best route as they will have a higher margin and better trained staff than retail outlets .

Although I prefer to use the S2 as my daily phone, I also own an iPhone 4.
One thing I really love about Apple is their warranty. Pretty much no questions asked. I guarantee if I went in with a cracked LCD (not screen) they would have replaced it on the spot.
Although I love Sammy (S1 & S2) their warranty stinks. Also, no official invoice means no warranty.

Thanks for the replies folks.
I also love what apple do for the customers warranty wise, being able to look up the age of a model instore is amazing.
Do you think that sammy should introduce something like this due to how much they are competing with apple now?
How hard would it be to incorporate this service in to the generic phone shops (CPW,Phones4u,ect).
The cracks maybe related to temperature differentiation? From very hot ambiance to very cold one? It is good to know this kind of stuff.

i work in mobile sales, and i see this allllll the time, now i do believe you when you say that it was probably a manufacturing fault with the screen, but you have to keep in mind that probably 97% of the time with customers, it is the their own fault, and about 85% of those people will downright lie about it, ive had a customer come into my store shouting and screaming that it wasnt her fault the screen was cracked, that it was made badly and that she always was super careful about it, until her 5/6 year old son says 'but wait mommy, i saw you throw it up against the wall when you were shouting...'
fact is, people lie about it, all the time, same with water damage! 'sorry sir but its water damaged, theres not alot i can do about it'
'it hasnt been anywhere near water! it must be the humidity, or condensation, but it most defiantly hasnt gotten wet'
'but look sir... that looks alot like milk to me'
'ah...'
im sure if people were honest all the time, your phone would have been fixed no problem, but no, they arnt :/
sorry about the rant!

This was something that had crossed my mind, before it happened i was at my mums all warm lovely, then i went out and it was freezing was out for about 30min before i noticed what had happened.
I saw that article about how the s2 can work at low low temps the other day, but i dont think it said anything about the effect of a quick change in temps.

Just using o2.co.uk as an example (i know there are a lot of different prices out there i just used a popular place), our s2 is £449.99 on p&g and the ip4s is £499.99.
The £50 difference isn't much more of a premium for how long most people keep there phones for.

I scored mine for 275GBP including an extra battery, and a silicone case. 2 months old (used) not a scratch, delivered to my door (through pure coincidence). Sammobile.com claims that factory warranty runs until Sept 2013.
I suppose im lucky in the sense in that when i purchased my phone on eBay it came with a 2 year warranty and (touch wood) ive had no trouble with it at all and i have it 8 months now and it's running fine, ive heard some bad reports about Phones4U too, their sales assistants are seriously pushy as well the minute you step into one of their shops they are all over you like a rash firing questions at you desperate to make a sale, any wonder i rarely ever go there anymore when im in the UK.

Mine was free on £40 p/m contract, i got it the day after it was released tho it has been in a silicone case from day one. I don't doubt that shopping around will find you our phone cheaper. i just think the majority of people would use a place like o2 or other retail chains.

Yeah my warranty card states that the device has a warranty of 24months starting from date of purchase. So Sept 2013 for me also lol
I saw warranty on SamMobile and it was of 1 year and 10 months from the date of purchase but the Samsung guy says he will only give it till 1 year from the date of purchase
P.S yesterday I got my screen replaced and my proximity sensor is not working
Such an idiot guy,I have to go again to service center tomorrow because today is Sunday and its closed

Warranty may be dependant upon area of sales .
Usual in the UK with Samsung mobiles is that Samsung offer a limited warranty for twenty four months .
That is outside of the sellers responsibility for the phone which is usually a twelve month warranty .

Before Buying a sony product (XZ1) Please read the reviews of the customers in india.

I also had very bad experience with sony india from last 2 years
Bought Xperia S last year due to worst after sales support sold it and bought another phone from local importer with out any sony india warranty for very less price Very happy with that fone. I will never buy a sony product from sony india from now on wards..
Jus thought of trying once again and giving a chance. bought XPeria Z1 in india. Used for 10 days, found lots of internal issues software. and display issues. given the fone to sony authorised service centre on 1st Oct, still now no word of dispatching the device.
called Xperia Support on 180030002800
If you are planning to buy a sony phone in india think 100 times if you are concerned about after sales support.

Hmm think Sony need to look at their customer service skills in India, im from the UK and i've not had a negative experience yet, but ive noticed over the past few days a lot threads being opened with issues and 90% of the users had purchased the Z1 from India, sounds like there very well could be a bad batch of Z1's there.
India got so much free swag too.
Like sofir said, it seems like a India issue.

I am also from India.. I have used 3 sony mobiles so far including the z1, I never had any issues with these devices. I visited the service center only once that too because I damaged the display by dropping my old Walkman series phone..I also find the z1 really good with no display issue or any other hardware issues.. just some bugs in the software here and there which is common for any newly launched devices.. I would say for you its just a bad luck.
maybe there is problem with Sony in India or maybe people from India complain about imaginary things or a mixture of both, if you go to any of the xperia Sony mobile support forums there are a considerable amount of nonsense complaints and a lot of them come from India posters - I believe there's a recent one claiming that they dropped their Z1 from a height of 12 inches onto carpet and the screen broke, other complaining about battery life and when they produce pictures of screen they are very obviously edited to support nonsense claims - another one is "my phone gets so hot I can't touch it and it burns me" a complete pile of sh$$$
Oh and my phone got water in it - I wash it everyday with the dishes - wtf ?
My phone just broke sitting on a table - my phone broke while in my pocket - my phone screen broke dropping from 12" onto a carpet floor - If someone came into a Sony service center to me with a story like that I'd hang myself
Although there may be genuine complaints in India (just like everywhere else) an awful lot of them are trivial self inflicted or just plain stupid - sorry but that is how I see it
So "No" I will definitely not be reading about issues reported in India as a basis for deciding anything
Enjoy your Z1 and man up

and they were exactly right - we are all aware here that the Z1 shipped with early camera software and will be updated soon, in saying that - the camera right now is outstanding, hard to believe that it's going to get better - there are plenty of pictures on this site and around the net taken with the Z1 and they are generally outstanding - in certain conditions there is some noise but that is currently normal until we see and update
so read my post above again and tell me why Sony service center should have taken it up the ass for your none issue - you just made my case
now enjoy your Z1 and stop with the BS

Just get rid of any case you've applied on your phone (ignore this if you haven't), clean the camera lens & area around it with a moist clean microfiber cloth & make sure there isn't any screen protector film covering the lens or flash. Try again, most specifically in the manual mode. If you still have problems, maybe then I'd say your phone does have a problem. In that case try another service center.
BTW, I've had a relatively good experience with sony service here at my place (India) till date. Had my XZ replaced several times without any issues.
I have no issues with sonys after sales service i had the z and its flap over the sd card slot came off and they repaired it and gave me back in exact 7 working days as they said..it was exactly on time.and i was surprized

whether you like to admit it or not, Indians are extremely sh**y customers.
bought my Z1 from a sony show room and im in love with the phone.
agreed that it has a lot of issues that needs to be ironed out (particularly with the battery life and the camera)
This should/will be addressed by sony in the near future.

Got my Z1 back from repair. Don't buy a Z1.

After waiting over a month for my phone to be fixed I finally got my Z1 back in the mail last week. First off the phone has the motherboard replaced so a new IMEI was given. This was a problem as Sony said my unlock would remain. Now it's not unlocked and I am still waiting for a code from sony one week later! Next up the speaker grill was missing after receiving my phone. And finally to my discovery I have noticed today my front camera does not work. I take a look at the lens and what do you know, no front camera lens. After over 5 calls to sony complaining with still no luck, agents keep telling me "were working on your case". I keep getting nothing but empty promises from Sony along with the standard "you will hear from someone in 24-48 hours" (they of course never call and I end up having to call them.)
What do I do. It feels like a dog chasing its own tail. No progress, just spinning in circles.

Where did you buy your Z1? Try to go to the store and ask for a replacement because of all the issues.
I wish. I bought the phone privately. Bell would not warranty me because I am not a Bell customer, so after 3 phone calls to Sony they decided to warranty my phone. After all, it is still a sony product.

Oh, that's were the problem starts then.. You don't have a payment paper stuff (warranty sheet)?
What's wrong with your Z1 before sending it to Sony?

If you don't have paper and invoice you are lucky they even want to take it and do anything without paying them.
Of course, that's not the reason to do something like that but it's obviously results of a free repair

Had a proof or purchase from the last owner but It's just bell would not honor me because I am not part of their monopoly. Sony claims bell handles all c6906 warranties, but ended up getting a repair because of this bell would not honor my warranty. Sony didnt even need my receipt either (The phone hasn't been out for a year yet). The phone originally had issues with random shut offs, then eventually just would not turn back on.

Even if you aren't a Bell customer they have to help you in the first place. But like always it's ****ty when you buy a used device

Previous owner knows the issue and probably sold it to you at a factor of price but not letting you know it. Sony repair centers are like lottery. Some are good and some are bad. They usually have contract with other companies to do their repair jobs.
I am not sure if Sony has repair center in Canada, but you can check the address you sent in on Google to see where it is.
Let fight to get it done right.

In Canada, Flextronics does the repair.
It was the typical brick.
Maybe I'm lucky that they gave me a new device instead
I had bought it privately and with no receipt - but warranty wasn't an issue.
I gave Sony support the IMEI number and they gave me an RMA number with instructions.
Instead of shipping it, I brought it to Flextronics in person since it isn't that far.
Sony uses serial number to check actual mfg date of their products (imei for phones). If it is within a warranty period, they don't ask you receipt. Otherwise, you will be asked even you just bought within a few months.
