Okay so this is a royal screw up on my behalf,
Here's what I did, I got tired of the default Moto. Cam on my M, so I got my hands on a Flashable Moto X CAM/GAL APK
and flashed it using CWMR stupid I know, and yes I made a NANDROID. My question is, this demon of an app has possessed
my original Camera and has merged in with it, I've uninstalled the Moto X Camera, I've done a Factory Data Wipe, I've restored
my NANDROID Backup, yet it still keeps coming back. Now I finally figured out how, it has made Google Play think that this
Moto X camera is a System App on my phone and apparently it's compatible too.. Now When ever I get rid of the Moto X Camera
Google Play wants me to update back to that Moto X Camera which doesn't work correctly.
Can anyone help me with this...?
EDIT: My Stock Camera works fine, if anyone could help me get rid of notifications for the Moto X Camera Update that would suffice,
I turned off Auto Updates for the Gallery and the Camera, but it insists on reminding me that two apps need my seal of approval in order to update.
Running - (Razr M / GPe 4.4.2) obviously rooted and unlocked.
Thanks.
Remove the files that are associated with moto's cam & gallery. This should work, but no guarantees.

EDIT: Thanks for your help, however after doing all that and uninstalling both the Gallery and the Camera the problem persists upon restoring the Camera & Gallery. Definitely an issue with the Play Store not letting go of the fact that I don't own a Moto X. :crying:
I would just use the Nexus Camera from the Play Store, or the Google Camera and get rid of the Moto Cam - but they don't support saving to SD.

Thank you for your reply, I'll try this when I get back home.
Fingers Crossed.
The camera you flashed is a system app, don't just factory reset your phone try to format the system also then restore the whole backup.
Things you wanna do...
Factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Format system
Wipe dalvik cache
Now restore your nandroid backup.

Thank you for your response, I just tried your suggested method to the 'T' however it didn't work.
I think the problem resides with the Google Play Store, after I flashed the Moto X Cam/Gal Zip I
was notified of an update on Google Play Store - which I took the update and now I believe it is
stuck in the Store thinking that I have that App, which I sort of do it's just the System App for the
Razr M. =/

This is from one of my posts on the CM9 thread here.
I'm still having problems with video recording.
I tried making a 2:10 video just now, after a full phone wipe (factory reset) then installing this.
The camera FCd and in the gallery it says - "This Video cannot be played"
It's really annoying because I actually use my video camera, when I can..
It's not the camera app because I've used different applications and they say "Cannot access camera" after around 40s.
Defy Red Lens running latest build.
--------
Does anyone know why this happens? Or have any solution to it.
I have enabled full HWA (in the most recent update).
Process when installing the ROM:
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache/dalvik
Install the rom (5 july from here)
Install Proximity Sensor Disable (this disables screen turning off when a call is made, for one thing).
Install Pottkopp's AIO Aroma installer for CM9 (Apex + rest don't change)
Wipe cache/dalvik
Reboot
Just incase I'm doing anything I shouldn't
Anyone know anything?
Try going to Apps and find Camera app.
Select Clear data from there.
Has helped me sometimes.
AROMA-Installer could also be the problem.
When installing new rom just:
Wipe cache partition or when big changes or everything goes wrong Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe Davik Cache
Install Rom
Reboot
There are just some options in Settings to disable screen rotating.

OK, I'll try skipping the AROMA installer next time I install.
Thank you! It must have been the Aroma.. I just tried a minute video and it worked!
I'll try a 5 minute one just in case, and see if that saves

Hey guys. I tried searching about but can't seem to find anyone with a similar problem. After updating my phone to 4.3, the stock Gallery app has been misbehaving. All the thumbnails show up as grey and full image viewing also shows grey. I know the pictures aren't corrupted because other apps can view the images fine. Even when taking new photos, the new pictures also show up grey in the Gallery (also in the stock camera app since it's tied to the stock Gallery app). I've tried wiping cache and data for the Gallery app to no avail. Anyone has any idea?
Here is a screenshot of the problem.

Delete everything in /sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.gallery3d.
Wipe data for Gallery app.
Profit.
Edit:
Right, if it comes up need permission error, read this: https://plus.google.com/app/basic/stream/z130i1nx3qzrc12ey23wcdp55terwvove
the last part "Fixing internal storage issues" is what you need to do.
Thank you! Turned out the permission really was the problem. Clearing cache wasn't working since I didn't even have permission to edit the cache.

Just thought I'd add a little to this, I flashed my father's Galaxy Nexus with the 4.3 yakju image, except for the user data partition, keeping his 4.2.2 one from a nandroid backup. (The phone was back from warranty with a new screen, on an outdated yakjuux ROM i.e. the factory authorized repair centre didn't even bother writing the current yakjuux build. Plus I found the whole 4.3 image first, so didn't bother with the OTA.)
He encountered the missing pictures issue, new images and video not even saving. The busybox chown -R 1023.1023 /data/media/* Chainfire suggests fixed it.
I thought there might have been something in the OTA script taking care of this, but can't find it after checking... I'll assume the 4.3 blank user data partition does too. Strange.

common solution for system apps or better to say preinstalled apps is to clear cache, data, force stop and re open it.
Setting > Apps > Camera > Clear Cache, Data, Force Stop
then try to re open app and check issue.
Possible solutions If problem remains
- you need to restart phone.
- reset to factory
- Flash another stock firmware (that u can find in sammobile.com/firmware) via Odin

Thankyou for your help but I have already tried your first suggestion and unfortunatly it didn't help.
I was also thinking I may need to Factory reset or flash another stock firmware as I have tried deleting the app itself and installing again but I still have the same problem.
I just find it strange that I cant seem to find any info on any one else having the same issue...
Anyway when I have abit of free time I will look for a firmware and give it a try. In the mean time any other suggestions are welcome.
Regards,
Gary.
Well I figured out what was causing this. It seems installing xposed stops my stock camera app from working as previously discussed.
The app is fine installed but when the firmware for xposed is installed the camera app doesn't work, when the firmware is uninstalled the camera app works fine.
If anyone has any info on this then I would appreciate it if you could share.
I'm also gonna ask in the xposed thread to see if anyone has any explanation or info. Hopefully I can get to the bottom of this and sort it out.
Thanks if any help or info is given.
Regards,
Gary.

I'm trying to side load the OTA for Lollipop using adb and the files available from Google. My device is unlocked and rooted.
I run the commands to sideload the zip file and everything seems to be working fine until I get this:

I've cleared the cache partition but to no avail.
Does anyone have any insight or am I going to have to wipe everything?
Well I went ahead and did a Flash Stock + Unroot and now it's worse. No error messages. Just the android with the red triangle exclamation mark.
I'm getting fed up with this crap. Every time there is an OTA I have to jump through hoops to get it running again.
Anyone have clues about what to do now?

If you already flashed stock and lost you user data plus can still get into the bootloader, then I suggest using a factory image to upgrade to Lollipop. I've ignored OTA's and have been applying the factory image for a while.
Not in this case but for next time, with the aid of root, a custom recovery to make a nandroid backup, Titanium backups for apps and user data. Prior to applying a factory image save a copy of the Titanium Backup directory, the nandroid backup plus any sundry files that were not backed up to a OTG SDCard (an OTG cable plus USB SDCared reader), getting back to your specific set up is not all that complicated. Plus you get to "spring clean" any old cruft that has built up wasting internal storage.
See: How to install Android Lollipop factory image on Nexus 5, 7 and 10 (and keep your data)
I have the same problem
I had system partition full after L update. I did it with factory image. I had to remove some apps from system to get adaway, busybox and so on working.
How to get more system space??

Deleting apps from /system is the only option that I've heard of. You cannot change the /system partition size even if you have spare internal storage. If you're rooted then this sounds worse than it is because there is plenty of apps you likely do not use (e.g. some of the google apps like news). You're also unlikely to use some of the foreign language apps. Even some of the main Google aps get updated out side of /system making the the /system apks redundant.
Without even trying hard I removed 86MBs worth then installed all I wanted (e.g. busybox, Viper4Android ... etc) and still have 54Mg free. So I could have left a lot of apps installed but I'd never use them anyway.
You can delete /system apks if your rooted with a number of different apps:
- Titanium Backup
- A Root enabled file manager like ES File Explorer
- My personal favourite System app remover (ROOT)
Lots of options.
Skullpuck, did you find a solution?
Did you guys try ADB version 1.0.32 or newer? Something has changed in the sideload command (could be only when using TWRP, not sure)

Yes there's a way.You can Flash a Custom Rom so you can use your phone again.
I flashed Resurrection Remix rom in my Moto E2(OTUS)..It's working fine but not as good as Stock Rom.
