My S5 didnt have the option to disable the shutter sound so I used to method by adding a piece of code to others.xml and adding the option in the menu of the camera.
The option is there now but it doesnt seem to do anything. It just stays on On.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Check the sound settings.
I did check the sound settings, unless I'm missing something there is no option there.

Go to sound settings and uncheck the Audible touch tones option. Should take care of it.
My sound settings are as below and I still have the clicking!!

I am using the Samsung keyboard, not swype, but I turned off the clicks in swype anyway. I am STILL getting the clicks in the Samsung keyboard.
I can't believe I'm the only one who doesn't want this thing constantly clicking!!

You're not the only one
Yes... You are not the only one. The clicks are freaking annoying!
I used root explorer and changed the sound file with one from my nexus one. I now have a different clicking sound.

Well the T-Mobile version can disable the keyboard clicking. I guess the Verizon version is out of luck.

Hi everyone. I happen to have both gti9500 and 9505.
Unfortunately on 9500 I can't turn off smart stay. Even tough I turn it of, the icon remain dark grayon top of the screen and it seems to be active. Also I've noticed that nfc icon does not show up when I activate it.
Any ideas?
All above work correctly on gti9505.

You need to remove all the smart stay related features (Smart rotation, pause and scroll).
I did.
No change.

All the smart options? Try to follow these steps:
1. Two fingers sweep down to open the toggles.
2. Long press on "Smart stay" toggle.
3. Uncheck all the options.
It works for me on the i9500 so maybe it's a firmware bug on yours
Long press helped
Thanks allot.

Hi Guys,
Is there any setting which I am missing, whenever I click on the phone icon. I am always presented with the dialer and then I have to scroll to call logs. Is there some setting where in I am always presented call logs (as in nexus4) and then i scroll to dialer?
Thanks again
When in the dialer, hit menu, and edit tabs.
Thanks Devs. From my VZW G2.
That is editing the tabs but still the dialer opens by default. Is there any way we can change it to call logs?

So it cannot be changed

I don't think it can. Your best bet would be to use a different dialer.
I just ran into a solution for this. It's not available as an option on the dialer but it is available as a setting on the G2 TweaksBox module for the Xposed framework. I installed it and enabled that option and it's working fine for me.

Put phone on silence mode.
If you're rooted, add this
<FeatureSet><CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu></FeatureSet>
To the "others.xml" file in system>csc and reboot. You'll get an option in the settings menu to turn off the sound

Searched the forum and didn't see anything, so sorry if this is a duplicate thread.
Now that we have root, is there a way that we can disable the camera shutter sound for when we do have our volume on? It's annoying that Verizon removed that option compared to other models. Thanks.
Yeah I did it on my phone. Download romtoolbox and go to root browser. Once there go to system folder, then csc folder, open up the features.xml file with RB editor. Once your there if you scroll down to the camera section you should see the camera shutter code. Change the "false" in the statement to "true" and there u go. Save it and reboot. Hope this helped

Also, if you used Wanam you can disable there as well.

EDIT: the icon to disable the sound is already enabled.. I just had to scroll down in the camera settings..
does this work with 4.4.4 ? I don't see a camera sound setting that is set to false. There is one, but it is already set to true.
