[Q] Samsung s5 unlocking for free - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just ran into this article, a Samsung insider gave the code away, can anybody try it and see if it works, I don't have an S5 at the moment.
link to the article:
if the link doesn't work, these are the steps:
1. Insert the foreign SIM card into your Samsung Galaxy S5.
2. Turn your handset off and back on again.
3. On the dialpad on your phone, type in *#197328640#.
4. Then select [1] UMTS > [1] Debug Screen > [8] Phone Control > [6] Network Lock > Options [3] Perso SHA256 OFF.
5. Wait for 30 seconds or so before returning to your main menu by choosing back.
6. In the main menu, you should see a “Network Lock” message, now choose [4] NW Lock NV Data INITIALLIZ.
If everything is in place, your Samsung Galaxy S5 should be unlocked. You can test it out with a SIM card from other carriers. Also, other Samsung smartphones work with the same codes as well so don’t be afraid to share it.

Where did you unlocked? and by the way, how much did it cost?

@XTARX
Uh huh. Well thanks for trying to help. But this information is long out of date. If you do a search on this forum.. or Google, you will find dozens of threads about this. This method hasn't worked since.. Android 4.1.2 or so on the S3. And a ton more posts confirming that it doesn't work on the S5, S4 or your riding mower either.
If your carrier likes you, they can unlock your S5. So can commercial unlockers for a fee. No free unlocks yet no matter what your article claims. But we are trying to figure it out.

Hey experts,

because its not accept ##786# or *#*#786#*#* code
and not found Hidden menu in RTN shortcut
i am much worried plz any help how can i check my phone original or not?
Turn the phone off.
Press and hold the volume down, home, and power buttons.
If you see a warning message about download mode, your S4 is real.
Press volume down to restart the S4.

Salam Adeel,
I just tried those codes in my 9505 and nothing happened, but my phone is original.
If I'm understanding the two of you correctly, you're trying to access the phone's service and/or diagnostic menus. *#0011# calls up the service menu. *#0*# calls up the diagnostics menu. The hidden menu trick that you've been using dates back to 2011 and doesn't work anymore.
Those codes don't work on the official samsung firmware.

I would've quoted you. Like I do now
I know that some codes don't seem to work on the official samsung firmware.
Don't know about the codes they are trying. I misinterpreted something
Samsung had an APK specifically for the hidden menus that are found in the dialer. They were told by a third party that their devices weren't real because the codes they tried didn't work and the APK was no longer present. I provided a quick test to prove the phone was real, but also added how to actually get into the menus.
If anyone misinterpreted things, it's me. I think all they wanted was assurance their phones were genuine.

[Q] How to check if phone is refurbished?

Hi,
I've been searching for a way on how to check if the unit has been serviced (refurbished)? Are there codes of some sort that we can use or a hidden menu that will show this information?

I believe you can download phone info by samsung then you can check there if your phone is original or refurbished

well ok, but what's wrong with downloading a few mb of apps? then delete it. atleast you can assure that your phone is not refurbish
roaring from the beast NOTE 4(N910C)
Dial ##786# or *#*#786#*#* go to view and scroll down if there is big Yes then your phone is refurbished if NO then your phone is not. Google it for better understanding.
I try both of this code and it's not working for me.

This is a terrible site, some of those are just wrong. And then it says if they don't work, click here. That link leads you to the page on how to factory reset your device. Lol. Most of the time codes are disabled at the carrier's discretion and resetting your phone won't help there.

[Guide] How to get your Bootloader Unlock Code (Free and Instant)

Note: You may or may not have to had your phone logged on with a Huawei ID for 14 days before you can do this.
1. Load up internet Explorer and go to https://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/detail.
2. Make an account saying your are from Hong Kong.
3. Paste "https://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin/unlock/detail" back in the URL Bar.
4. Fill out all of the information and hit submit.
No need to email Huawei in google translated Chinese or pay someone for a code.
This will work for International MHA-L29 phones. For Chinese AL00 phones this may or may not work.
Yes!!! easy
many thanks
14 days

It tells me the same, that i must wait 14 days ...
I used the EMUI site, click on download, then top right of the page click the bootloader unlock (DO NOT PICK A DEVICE), login to your account, agree to disclosure and fill out form. I have the US Dual SIM MHA-L29, I had to use the Second SIM IMEI, then it displayed the Unlock Password right on the screen.

i have my huawei account on my HI App. Is thtat the way of havve my H account on the phone? or i must introduce it in another section?
Regards
OP must write note about Chinese AL00 model.
They are in ban list already, owners should create accounts and wait 14 days.
But it does not guarantee that after 14 days they will get unlock code. On some cases it faults.

Guide To Enabling Video Calling On Unlocked Note 8 With T-Mobile

Hey everyone, I got my unlocked Note 8 yesterday and have been using it with a T-Mobile sim card. I spent a bunch of time trying to get the built in video calling to work and I finally got it, so I thought I would post a guide so the next person doesn't have to do the leg work.
Here is what I did, and I can now call other T-Mobile users via dialer based video calls: (the one down side is all numbers show the video call option, even if they are not T-Mobile customers, the calls just turn into audio when the other person answers)
1. Download Shortcut Master from app store (Light version works, but it's a great app, support the dev if you can)
2. Open the app and go to the menu (three dot's top right) and select app explorer
3. Scroll down to IMS Settings and select it.
4. Scroll down to ImsSettingsLauncherActivity (last item on my list) select it and hit launch.
5. Select IMS Service Switch and under that turn on everything on that screen. (For me most things (especially RCS items) were disabled by default, but when I looked at a friends S8+ settings they were all on so I tried that and all works now.)
6. Make video calls!
That's it, you should be able to make video calls from the dialer now.
Hope this helps someone! Thanks to the app dev and everyone on here for all the help I have gotten over the years!
Hi, Can you help out enabling HD voice & video for us helpless VZW peeps with the unlocked version? Please!!!

Thank you. Will try if and when I get my n8 unlocked
How did you get this to work? i followed the guide and it shows the video icon in the dialer but when i call a friend with the exact same setup it says "video calling is currently not available" and then only does voice.
---------- Post added at 11:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:04 PM ----------
Nevermind i got it ha. you gotta place the phone call as a normal call THEN hit the video icon during the call
Tried it for unlocked on Sprint...lol...no go..
.edit: video icon in phone app, have to test

As far as I'm finding on XDA, we'll need to flash the CSC from a T-mobile device to get this working. When I googled it, I found this thread in the S8 forum with a utility for switching CSCs but I am not sure if it would work for the Note 8, and in my case really not sure if it would work to flash a Tmobile CSC (Snapdragon device) on my Korean Exynos model.
Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ility-flashable-csc-selection-v1-0-0-t3605264

Interesting, good to know and thanks for the info. I won't be getting the unlocked one, I'm getting the international version for rooting so we'll see if it works with that. Sure hope it does because tmobile reception is abysmal where I live.
I have a t moble variant, I want to flash the unlocked firmware but will able to flashback to the t mobile firmware if I wish? that's the only thing stopping me from flashing the unlocked firmware. the video calling was a big deal for me so thank you for figuring this out. also are you 100% on the unlocked firmware or do you have the t mobile CP flashed with the unlocked firmware?
