Hello,
I sure could use some help here! I just upgraded to BajaROM 16 in my stock rom slot. All was fine until I did a boneheaded thing. I wanted to go into recovery to attempt to install another ROM in slot 1 so by mistake I clicked on "recovery" in the drop screen that also has the restart and shut down buttons. Now I appear to be in a endless loop trying to find recovery. I have no idea what to do now. I tried doing the three button approach but nothing happened. I have pulled the battery and waited a few minutes but as soon as I re-start the phone, I get that damn "Recovery Reboot" message again on the top left side of the screen.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
I'm in the same boat, phone has been constantly rebooting for the last 12 hours and I can't figure out how to make it work again...

I have encountered this as well. I fixed it by Odin flashing the modem back to the phone. Once flashed, it rebooted and I had Safestrap and my rom back. Just be sure you flash the right modem file as the wrong one will brick your phone. I have done that in the past as well.

Whoa, Odin wont recognize the phone in download mode?
vol dn + home & Power?
You need to not use USB3, switch USB ports, change cables, if your computer wont recognize switch computers.
Open up Kies3 and re-install drivers.
Many options, try them all, don't give up. It your shot won't even turn on, then take that **** back!!!
What IO did to achieve salvation...
I flashed NC4, Rooted using towl root, then busy box and Safe Strapped flashed the NC2 kernel and bamm(no relation) back on Baja16....
(there is a process, please don't follow the steps above, go here...)
I was in the same boat...

I was also rebooting into recovery mode over and over again after my first boot up of the recent Baja and rebooting into Recovery after updating to the new version of SS.
The only thing I could do was pull the battery and it would do again. I read the above about updating the modem, but unsure what that was, I tried rebooting into download mode again. From here, instead of hitting UP VOLUME to continue, I hit DOWN VOLUME and low and behold, I got the baja flash and it booted up my phone again.
PHEW!
Just thought I'd share what worked for me...
what am i doing wrong i did the root methods and setup the safestrap(3.75) and have been trying all evening to install bigginsRom+v6. i go thru all the steps and when i hit continue for it to reboot it just dies and does nothing. i have to pull the battery and get it back to safestrap and reinstall the stock rom. i am supposed to set it up on slot 1 instead of stock right?
downloaded another rom and tried it in another slot and the same thing. the only one i can get to load is the stock backup. anything else it just goes black and does nothing. have to pull the battery to even get it to power back on

It took some work but I got it booted back to the stock rom
I also had problems getting Odin to see my phone. In my case I just needed to unistall the USB drivers bundled with my phone and install the latest drivers FROM Samsung's website.

sweet...well, not sweet...PM me if you find a fix: i'll do the same, i have a replacement on the way via t-mobile.
for the record, i've successfully gotten in to download mode and used Odin to get back to factory...twice, once for fun and once for resurrection...i don't know what went wrong, except while nandroiding maybe i backed up a bogus recovery rom before i flashed. i can't get past Vibrant, and i don't even see the battery recharge display either when i usb, i'm letting the battery run down to try and get to the green battery icon to try a "download" mode??? i've read of a move while you see the charging screen but i haven't been able to get there... oh well, live and learn. i am also searching for a way to boot from the removable sd card that has a system or recovery rom on it..nothing yet.
also, i've read people discussing newer models being blocked from download...well like i said i've done this with this phone before but i got a new SIM last week and this is the first attempt with the new SIM???? maybe a coincidence...
take battery out, plug in usb to pc, hold vol up n down, replace battery, boom download mode.

yes(but i'm over saturated right now, i might have missed something) ...i'm dead in the water, i can't get to the point of anything seeing my device...my computer won't see it except as unknown usb device, no partitions show up, adb doesn't recognize it in any way...maybe i'm a [email protected], but i don't see anyway to flash it without at least getting in to download mode, or somehow pushing a .zip at the sd for a recovery??? technically figuring out that stuff is beyond my remaining brain cells...this seems like a dicey way for the phone to rely on when restoring to factory.... it would be nice to have the device look at All available partitions, internal/removable, for a recovery system or have an altogether different sd in the phone for a -R dedicated recovery volume....don't know, i'm a noob at this android stuff sooo....
tried to install custom rom, didn't work out. tried to do a restore the phone gets to a point where it stops and says "lost+found" and won't go any further. any suggestions?
Thanks
Also when i try to reboot in recovery i get this "E:can't open/cache/recovery/log" and stops right there. Any ideas??

just like that half way down the screen. won't go any further. need some serious help.
you shouldnt be using recovery mode, you need to be in download mode. power off your device then hold 1 and power on again. you should get a little android with a shovel. thats the mode your phone needs to be on in order to odin it back

At this point the only way i can power it down is to remove the battery and even when i hold 1 and power back up it goes into clockwork recovery mode instead of download mode.
thats incredibly strange. ive had the same problem as you before when i installed a bunk rom but it didnt affect download mode. see if you can flash over stock dk28, after factory resetting 3 times, wiping cache and then dalvik. i think the reason its stuck on the samsung screen is because the last rom you installed is conflicting with something. but if you can get another to work, it may hopefully at least allow you to enter recovery so you can odin.
i may just be talking out my ass here, but its def a software issue, as opposed to hardware.
or it may even be a kernel conflict, make sure the one youre using is compatible with the rom

A friend at work, who has an EVO wanted to work on my phone while I was out of the office on business. He was able to finally get it to enter download mode, flashed odin and froyo DK28 and got me back up. Just a temporary glich that took several tries for some reason. Anyway I'm back on 2.2.1 and looking forward to rooting again but probably going to download a different rom. Thanks for help and advise. also good to have phone savy friends at work. Thanks Ashley.

It sounds like you flashed a modded ROM that went wrong. What did you try and flash? The best way to get back to a working phone would be to flash a non-modded firmware, then you can try and work out what you need to do to get the modded ROM of your choice working again.
Phone worked fine with the modded rom "Darky's Extreme Edition 8.x". I turned it off and tried on again. I have not tried to install something.

I would still recommed flashing back to a non-modded ROM to get your phone back to life as a starting point and making sure that it is stable. When you have a stable working phone then you can look at re-flashing a modded ROM again. When you originally flashed the Darky's ROM, did you follow all the instructions from the developer fully?
I would like also flash a official rom, but I can not access the downloading mode.

Sorry, I hadn't noted that you can't get into download mode at all. There are various threads on the forums about getting into download mode on an SGS if the three button combination isn't working, I suggest you search for these and see if any of them work for you. If not then you will have to get hold of a USB jig to force your phone into download. There's a good thread about USB jigs on here and you'll be able to buy one on ebay, I bought one off ebay a while ago and it works great. Good luck!
Hi,
I have been searching and searching. I tried to install a kernel to my phone, its been forever so i don't remember which one.
It just reboots every 5 seconds without any screens coming up. I can not get into recovery mode
I can get into download mode and have flashed stock I337UCUAMDB_ATTAMDB_I337UCUAMDB with odin, but it doesnt fix anything.
What can I do to get to stock recovery and fix my phone?
What happens if you put it on download mode and then cancel with vol down
It falls back into the bootloop of restarting every 5 seconds with no screens coming up. No entry into recovery.
And if you pull the battery and put it back in does it try to boot?
What firmware were you on and was it loki'd if you were on mdl?

When did it start doing what's it's going. Did you do anything before hand? Do you know what firmware you where on before you tried odin? Was it mdb?
"What firmware were you on and was it loki'd if you were on mdl?"
Previous to my obvious blunder with the kernel download, I was using goldeneye rom from android develepment, sucessfully.
Dont know if that answers the question but i have also tried to flash AMDL with odin but have the same results.

I have done it multiple times, perhaps panicking, I checked the re-partition button. I have tried to get a PIT file downloaded and tried to use that.
However, this behavior was happening before I did that. It started boot looping as soon as i tried to use TWRP to flash the kernel (I know i am an idiot, and didn't read first). As soon as this started happening, that's when I immediately tried to flash AMDL (exactly as you described with only those options checked) through odin and it didn't do anything different. That's when i tried other options. I fear i may have broken my phone. Again thank you for your attention.

i've never seen a kernel hard brick a device or corrupt the recovery partition. i also rarely see a user flash a file and not remember what they just flashed. he/she possibly flashed an incompatible kernel or flashed a non-loki'd kernel without flashing loki-doki. either way, recovery would still be accessible to correct this issue. i feel that there is more to this.
OP, see jd's jtag post above.

Care to share how you got Kies working? I have a similar problem and I can't get Kies to recognize my phone.
Fix!
So What you gota do
1. Pull Out Battery Put back in
2.Go To Download Mode
3. Download The TWRP.tar For Your Phone
4.Run Odin as Admin, Tick Pda, for pda select the TWRP.tar
5. Hit Start, Then Pull Out battery put it back in
6.Get A Micro Sd And Put The Cyanogenmod Rom, and the gapps the ones for your phone
7.Insert microsd in phone
8. Boot Recovery and go to mounts and mount the microsd
9, Go Advansed, file manager, ext sd, And Copy the cyanogenmod and the gapps to internal storage
10. Flash the cyanogen mod and the gapps. DO THIS PART CAREFULLY OR MIGHT HARD BRICK!
11. Reboot And youl boot to cyanogenmod! OH yeah! Replay if this helped or if you have any problems
I've heard ranting and raving about Malladus and I decided to flash it yesterday. It won't take the flash no matter what I do.
I've tried: Flashing 1.2.4, downloading both again to make sure it wasn't a download issue, using different gapps package, using a different lg apps package, using CWM, using TWRP, side-loading... ETC
Bottom line: My phone will not take the ROM. It flashes the LG logo and gets stuck at a black screen where the back-light is on but nothing is displayed on the screen.
I am an experienced flasher and I have no idea what is going on. I am backed up and can get into TWRP to restore so I am all good as far as not being bricked goes but I really want to try out this damn rom.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Did anyone have any luck resolving this? Ive tried with both twrp and cwm and same issue...?
Same problem on my Verizon model. Using twrp 2.6.3.3. Other roms work fine.
How long have you left it at the black screen? Sometimes a fresh load can take up to 10 minutes.
Also, the rom will work without gapps and lgapps, so try just loading the rom. I know you downloaded twice, but did you check the md5 sum either time?

I left it there for a good 15 minutes. I also had it plugged into my laptop. It kept detecting the phone as plugged in. Seems like it is stuck in a bootloop or something. I also tried installing only the ROM without the gapps and lgapps and had the same result. I also checked the MD5 sum and it matched. (I know I'm kinda hijacking this original post, but I think we are all having the exact same issue)

Can you restore your nandroid and flash say, CleanROM 1.0 or DigitalDream 2.1? OR try this:
1. Hold the power button until the device is OFF.
2. Download LG drivers to the PC (LG VZW_United_WHQL_v2.11.1) and LG mobile support tool (B2CAppSetup).
3. Install these packages.
4. Plug in you USB cable into the phone but not the computer.
5. Hold volume up and insert the USB cable to the PC- the phone should boot to 'download mode'.
6. Open the support tool and click Options>Upgrade Recovery, follow the prompts.
7. At the first prompt indentify your phone using IMEI/ESN, then click OK
8. Let it do its thing, the phone will reboot and most likely have a bunch of error messages and some FC's. Just hit okay to all messages, the phone will settle after 2 minutes or so.
9. Download freegee from market and reflash recovery of your choice.
10. Make sure you have a ROM saved to the SD to flash

I was able to install the digital dream rom without any issue. At this point I think its the sequence I did everything. I did the latest ota before installing any Recovery. I used the loki method to install the recovery. In looking at all the roms, it appears that malladus may not be "loki patched" for people already on 12b? Other roms I have tried mention that so thats why I'm speculating this. I am by no means a developer so I might be out in left field on this one. I guess I'll stick with stock or another ROM for now until his next update.
It also looks like people are discussing this on the main ROM forum as well so hopefully it will work in the future.

I had issues originally and had to flash back to 1.2.3.
What I ended up doing was switching to CWM 6.0.4.4 ( I was using TWRP 2.6.3.3).
His boot skipped the set up wizard as well, which was odd.
His was also the only ROM I ever got stuck on the fastboot screen while using twrp.
Try ( at your own risk obviously) flashing back to an older malladus (wipe all and boot till you get through the set up wizard),
Then back to recovery, do a wipe, without wiping the system partition, Data Cache and Davlik, and flash back to 1.2.5.
I didn't try it on 1.2.5. But that's how I got into 1.2.4.

Thanks.

Are you on 12B OTA? If so, that would be your issue. I took the 12B OTA and tried flashing Malladus and got the same issue you have. You can revert your phone to 11A and that should resolve your issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448960 it will erase everything on your phone and go back to unroot.
