Embeded Sensors - Nvidia Tegra Note 7

Hi,
I'm curious to know wich sensors are embeded into your Tegra Note.
I've read on the web the TN has proximity sensor. But mine not. So I'm asking if it's normal or not or if it' a fail?
Or if it's manufacturer dependent. My TN is branded Zotac.

Strange Proximity sensor Issue!!!

hi,
i know the DHD users have had some problems with the proximity sensors but what i am experiencing is a bit different.
I live in India and i am a Sikh(religion).
i wear a turban(black color) most of the time and my ears are covered by the cloth of the turban.
What i have discovered/noticed is that the proximity sensor does not identifies/responds to the black color. i have confirmed it by putting a black cloth on the proximity sensor while making a call. its does not identify black objects or color.
The proximity sensor works absolutely fine with a naked ear or even if i test it by putting my finger on it during a call. Even the Iphone has the same issue, i checked it to confirm if it was limited to my handset.
i know its a funny situation and its not a problem with the phone. Is there a way to get around this or i have to start wearing other color turbans ( )
waiting for comments and advice
thanks in advance

I noticed it too, when I have a call and I place it in my ear covered with my hair, the proximity sensor does not work but if I place it in my ear without the hair covering it, it works. So, my theory also is, it does not work with black colors.
Black doesn't reflect light hence it doesn't pickup anything. The proximity sensors in phones work via infared reflectence hence using black objects absorb the light making the sensor report no obstruction.
Its not a fault in any way. Phones use ir sensors because they are cheaper than the alternatives

I wear a black beanie most days (it's cold here in Scotland at the moment!) and my proximity sensor still works with no problems. Perhaps the wool the hat is made from is slightly more reflective than other black fabrics?

Gyroscope sensor

Hello,
My school have purchased a Xperia Arc beleiving that it comes with a Gyroscope sensor but after checking the specs at the sony website it doesn´t mention anything about it...
Can anyone tell me if it has gyro sensor?
It is crucial for us as we are doing our thesis about the use of the gyro for indoor positioning within android. So we need an android device which has one.
The phone hasn¡t arrived but in case it doesnt have gyro we need to cancell the order and look for an alternative.
Anyone???
Thanks
it has ;
Accelerometer
Compass
Magnetic Field sensor
which means yes... it does have gyroscope - just not called a gyroscope..!!
From the Apple iPhone4 Gyroscope demo, I think compass and accelerometer is suffice to build a gyroscope.

light sensor problems?

Hi all
I'm not sure whether i'm having problems with the light sensor or not.
in my phone I never really worry too much about it except sometimes in daylight bump it up manually, but on my A501, it seems to get it wrong all the time.
Sometimes I use the tablet in the dark, and the brightness is still quite high.
It seems not to register small light changes very well but reacts if I point a flashlight to the sensor.
Using a sensor testing app, I can see that it is working and changes, but only with major changes in light.
is this normal?
Same here, as far as I know it's a known problem with a particular minor hardware revision. We definitely have one..it just doesn't work properly. Mind if i ask when you bought your tablet and where? Bought mine in September 2011 directly from Amazon.

Chaos.
do you have any more details about this?
how to tell if it's an affected unit, etc?

Whats the 4th sensor on the fron of the galaxy s4.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew what the sensors on the fron of the galaxy s4 are. It obviously has a camera, and one is a proximity sensor. I think one is a light sensor, but whats the 4th?
Anyone know? Is it something for motion tracking? (and if so is there an api for it?)
(On an unrelated note, is there any api for the hover above the touchscreen?)
Thanks. I'm just curious. It seems like these phones have more sensors that there are things to sense lol. (seriously does a phone need a pressure sensor and barometer? )

Oh so it does have a dedicated one. People on the internets seemed to think the gestures were combinations of the camera and proximity sensor.
But is there anymore info about it? I would love to know more details. And any api?

Purple Haze ad low light conditions

For all how have the purple haze ad low light problem it is a Camera sensor problem and HTC wil replace it! It is a problem for the old camara sensor! A carepaoint can fix this whit in a hour!
I read lots of stories of people sending their phone in to HTC. In the beginning all was finde but then the problem returned. Are you sure the problem is fixed?
Sorry, but this information can be found all over the "HTC One camera purple tint possible fix" thread and the rest of the internet (http://www.anandtech.com/show/7893/the-htc-one-m8-review/3 "Due to quality control problems with the ST sensor the M8, like later models of the M7, uses the OmniVision sensor exclusively"). The problem is the ST sensors. The newer OmniVision sensors don't seem to have the problem, and that's what they'll install if you send it in for repair.
And as far as my own research shows, the problem does not come back with the newer sensor... haven't seen any consistent claims that show that the new sensor ever has the problems. That HTC uses that same OmniVision sensor in the M8 suggests to me that they haven't had any complaints about it, either.
