Hi. Newbie in this forum. Bought an htc tytn from u.s. but am from Phil using smart carrier with gsm band at 1800. after going thru sev topics, properly identified device as Herm200 rom:1.18.255.3 07/22/06 extrom:1.18.255.106 radio1.03.03.10 protocol32.34.7010.01H.
All phone features working perfectly except for 3G. Smart carrier people cannot help. What could be wrong. Vendor says 3g works on 2100 band. Confusing statement. What can be done? Connects to umts but when video call is pressed will not connect.
Which carrier are you on again? Smart Carrier? .. From what I know no carriers in the US support video calling .. Also, Cingular is the only GSM carrier in the US with 3G which runs on the 1900Mhz band ..
also .. what does your phone display while connected "G" or "U" ... what are your phone band settings .. can you also goto dslreports.com/mspeed and see what speeds are you getting ..
According to GSM world SMART (a Philippine operator) uses UMTS 2100, which your TyTN does definitely support.
Have you checked if your SIM card is 3G-enabled? Most 3G networks require special USIMs for 3G usage.
I just learned, that Cingular uses UMTS 850 and 1900 to be exact. According to the American HTC website the Cingular 8525 supports "Tri-band UMTS/HSDPA high speed wireless data network support (2100MHz and 850/1900 MHz), Quad-band GSMĀ®/GPRS/EDGE worldphone".
Does anyone know if there is a special hardware version, that supports UMTS850 & 1900 or will my European TyTN work on those networks, too?
TyTN is tri-band UMTS .. 850/1900/2100 .. so it should work on these networks without any issues ...
And my bad .. didnt realize that you are trying to use the TyTN in Phillipines ..
You should also check, if the called party has a 3G signal, while you call him. Further make sure video calls are activated by your network operator.
3g problems in the philippines
Everything you guys mentioned in order(am in a 3g area calling a 3g enabled party with a 3g sim card). Even the tech staff behind Smart Communications cannot make it work. Displays U and u. But video call cannot push thru even if pic on front camera shows. There is 1 thin line( or command?) stopping it from connecting. My last option is to borrow my friend's unit and see if her unit's 3g works here then it's my device that's a problem. Thnks for the input. Keep it coming.

Hi. I don't know how they did it but Smart Communications did it! Apparently and ironically their 3g sim card is not compatible with the htc tytn but their regular sim is. Thanks all.
are u using 3G now in Phil ?
Is there a Globe perpaid 3G simcard ?
3g problems no more
Hi everyone. After my first thread i have finally got everything on my tytn working: 3g, mms, internet, phone. The problem was on the settings. Smart and Globe, the primary carriers in the Philippines can both work on the phone if the settings are right.
sectorlord,
yes there is 3g and hsdpa along with gsm and gprs and wap in the philippines. and yes you can buy globe prepaid 3g sim card.
glad to hear you've got your problems solved jjc!
I hope that somebody can help me. I live in The Netherlands and have Vodafone as provider and do not have 4g but only 3g as this is an old flat fee corporate account. If I set the Network mode on automatic (WCDMA/GSM) the phone will not connect to UMTS (3g) but only on GSM (Edge and GPRS) for data connections.
When I manually force (WCDMA only) Umts will work. Does anybody know how to fix this? I have the latest firmware. I prefer auto-switching as in some areas only GSM networks will be available. My iPhone 6 and Nexus 6 do not have this problem and will connect automatic to both networks, GSM when I make a call and UMTS if I need data. Could this be a modem issue? I already repalced my simcard and replaced my Note 4, both have the same issue. This is the Exynos and not the Snapdragon version.
Hello,
I have been using my Meizu MX5 for about two months now without the 4G network working. I have recently updated to the latest firmware and I am currently running Flyme OS 4.5.2.7A and that has not solved any issues either.
I have checked that the phone settings are configured properly.
Network Mode is set to "4G First".
The phone is pending between, H-, H and H+ connection (3G I believe?)
I have checked with my provider and these are the following frequencies which should be providing 4G in my country (Sweden) for the provider:
800Mhz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2600MHz
Other providers have the same frequencies as well.
I have also gotten two new SIM-Cards during this period of time without it solving any issues. I have tried the SIM cards in some other phones and they get 4G connection without any issues.
I have been in contact with Meizu customer support in China and after some random troubleshooting of factory resetting and reinstalling the same firmware on the phone without solving anything.
They have also provided me information regarding the different bands/frequencies which the phone operates on:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (900/1800/1900MHz)
WCDMA/HSPA+: Band 1/2/8 (900/2100MHz)
FDD LTE: Band 1/3 (1800/2100MHz)
TD-SCDMA: Band 34/39 (no freqency specified)
TD-LTE: Band 38/39/40/41 (no frequency specified)
I am not 100% sure on how this works but according to the information I am given, the phone and my provider share at least one frequency for the 4G network and therefore I do not understand why it is not working.
I am sure that it is software related and thus I won't send my phone back to China (4-8 weeks delivery time and all expenses has to be paid by me) for them to troubleshoot.
Anyone here who has knowledge which could give me an answer?
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi mate.
I had this problem but upgraded to new firmware late last night and it came on. Thankfully!
Give it a try
Hi,
I have checked the upgrade app on the phone and it says I have the latest firmware.
Which firmware version are you running?
Kind regards,
Martin
Maybe it is an APN related problem. Look if you have the same data as in the other phones that 4G works

Hi iicc,
Thank you for the reply.
I have checked the APN settings about four-five times and I can't find any inconsistencies. I have even crosschecked it with a support technician from my provider.
The only things I can think of is either my anntenna being gimped, that the firmware is not properly developed or that somehow there's trash in my system and that my phone maybe needs a complete wipe and reinstallation.
After the upgrade to firmware 4.5.2.7A the phone does not even hint on trying to connect to 4G. Pre-upgrade it atleast connected to 4G for about 5 seconds and then went down to 3G.
Kind regards,
Martin

And have you tried to factory data reset the phone?

Let me try to come up with something that might be your problem. If you are using 3 as your mobile provider then they use FDD-LTE band 7 & 20 none of which are supported by the MX5 and 3 are also using TDD-LTE band 38 which is supported by the MX5, but might not be available in your area.
If you are on Net4Mobility then they use FDD-LTE 3,7,8 & 20 of which only 3 is supported, so it could that in your area there is no coverage with band 3.
If you are on Telia, the story is pretty much the same as Net4Mobility as they use FDD-LTE 3,7 & 20.
In order to get more from your phone. You can open up google and search for 'meizifan eu' and go to the website. They have a pretty good description of how you install the international version of FlyMe on your MX5, the international version is called 4.5.2.7i. I believe it activates some other FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE bands.
1800Mhz band is a short range, higher bandwidth frequency which usually is less common and given that it has a short range it most likely isn't available in your area.

Thank you for the reply nasty_suicide!
I am using Comviq Tele2 as provider, which should use the Telia net.
This is what I believe as well, but I really thought there was no way to flash the international version onto the phone and was about to abandon ship by buying a new phone yet again.
I will try to install the International version as soon as I have time to follow through the steps. I have found the guide on Meizufans.
Once I have installed the international version I'll let everyone know the outcome.
Kind regards,
Martin
Hi Hawdes,
I've exactly the same problem as you do, please post back once you instal I version. I was planning to do so but since I already have everything installed I didn't want to go through trouble for nothing.
What were the results of this? Is it true that firmware can affect the signal received?
upgraded to the latest firmware yet?
Samsung galaxy s7 4G problem
What about in Samsung galaxy s7 version of Flyme OS?? I cannot see 4G option.
Hello, I bought Huawei P8 lite model ALE-TL00 from Shanghai, china and i am trying to use it in Africa. The phone is OK except that the phone can't see my operator as 3G network. I have only 2G. I try 4G 3G or 3G&2G but still I have only Edge or worst "g" on mobile data. I hope some of you know how to make the thing work? If there is hidden service menu to change something or to flash new Rom?i guess this version is for China but maybe there is a way to see it working with "h+" mobile data network. Thanks
Hey everybody,
Recently rooted an American T-Mobile K20 Plus and removed the restriction on the network for use in Ireland. I can now register the phone to any network associated with the SIM card inserted into it. Unfortunately, the phone does not appear to be able to connect to anything but 2G internet even after changing Network Mode from GSM only to GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto.
I'm wondering if there are any security measures pre-installed in the phone to block 3G or 4G internet outside of the USA or have I made any stupid mistakes? Phone pretty much needs the better connectivity for use as a hotspot. Any ideas would be great, thanks.
I have the same problem
Is it at all possible for you to access the phone's hidden settings and change the radio band under phone info to Automatic or Europe. It's likely it is set to United States by default.
K20 plus isn't able to use the frequency that irish carriers support.
