Hi All, I also have Lg G2 D802…amazing phone except for GPS! It is really disappointing and I cannot believe so bad GPS performance is belonging to LG! I’m on CloudyG3 1.1 but the same with stock and others. Fix is more or less ok (even if not really fast), BUT satellites signal is very weak (orange/yellow with GPS Test) and accuracy is not less than 10m!!!....Also with navigator I very often get GPS disconnecting (losing the fix) and precision is very unacceptable. I red on Internet about an HW antenna fix but it not seems a 100% solution so, should I consider to return my phone to LG?.....

Anyone else use this, I find that after about 20 minutes of driving it looses signal..
If I reboot the phone it'll find signal again..
Yeah, experiment same matter here. Pretty annoying that is.

No, I regularly use the navigation and have driven for 45+ minnutes without losing signal
Seems to be working ok now since using the newer hd4 betas..

[Q] [q] strange battery life on the n4

Just got my new Nexus 3 days back.. and today was the first day using the phone not plugging it on and off thorough the day.
noticed something odd. I hadn't opened the maps app.. so it makes it even more strange.
any ideas?
Maps always runs itself. I believe this can be remedied by turning off location settings.

Which app is that by the way? And turn off location settings and latitude.

the even more curious part was that the app had run only for 34seconds!
not faced the problem today, hadn't changed any settings. guess it will remain a mystery until it happens again?
Someone was having a similar problem a few weeks back. Try going from maps to navigation and accepting the user agreements etc. Someone found that this solved the maps battery drain.

This was an issue on galaxy nexus when updating from 4.0 to 4.0.1 .all you had to do is to go to maps accept t&c and that's it.

GPS calculates wrong mileage?

Anytime I run an app like MyTracks or MapMyRun or Strava, my GPS is spot on but it calculates the miles wrong. It also get's progressively worse as it gets farther along. It starts saying 1 mile is at about .7 miles, then 2 miles at like 1.3 miles by the time I hit about 8 miles I've really only gone about 4.
Anyone have any idea? It's really driving me nuts. I'm running Vanilla Rootbox with franco kernel. I had this problem with two different versions of both the rom and the kernel, I doubt it's related to those.
Sounds like it's a app issue.
If your gps is spot on then the gps is working as it should.
All calculations on distance traveled would be done by a app reading the gps info. So if your gps is accurately reporting your location it's not at fault.
Sure the apps aren't giving you results in km? Sounds like it may be just that.

That's what I thought too, but I doubt 3 apps are miscalculating the same way.Its not in km, first thing I checked

The correct answer is GPS isn't 100% accurate its always off by at least 10m which adds up over the course of 4 miles. This isn't an issue with the nexus 4 it happens on all phones.

Eh. Unfortunately that's not how gps "tracking" (or math) works.
I don't think either of you actually read the problem, or I just explained it like ****. Gps Accuracy is not the issue, even the speedometer was correct. Only the mileage was off.

[Ver] gps lock is too slow on stock rom

So I've asked this in the past but people seemed to assume I was running cyanogenmod... I'm on stock verizon ota rom but rooted.
Gps lock is painfully slow sometimes I'll even reach my destination before it locks... I tried editing gps.conf to add the north america.pool.ntp servers but it only mitigated the issue a tiny bit, anyone know of anything I can do to fix this?

Kit kat probably. Should be here before 2015.... my gps is pretty Ok. About 10 sec on lock with only the occasional drop on stock 11a. The funny thing is that my wife has the same phone and she gets an instant lock and no drops... Maybe hardware is suspect. Our maybe boobs are a gps antenna...
GPS was working fine until 2 or 3 days ago! Then takes forever, sometimes 20 - 30 minutes to lock.
Strange ....

GPS finally fixed!
I used the app "GPS Status" and it took 1/2 hour to get a lock outside. Since then it locks fine outside and usually within 30 seconds indoors.
Sounds to me like any sort of ROM changes with Cache clearing must also clear vital satelite tracking info. Just a hunch ...
I take that back. The GPS is just as buggy as before. I will have to get into some better outoors open spaces and re-test.
The GPS performance seems to revert to buggy lock-on as soon as the device is rebooted or some time passes.
Sucks.
Ahhhh. But wait. I went into an open space in the park and it locked in 39 seconds. There-after, it locked in 2 or 3 seconds onto between 10 to 15 satelites.
Soooooo...... The GPS works, in more exposed open spaces. Works in car as well. But does not work on patio with only 1/3 of sky visible.
Don't rely on this GPS chip to get you out of a rainforest or dark canyons!!
I too have the same issue on the stock rom . I found switching over to a kitkat rom helps as it locks on within seconds. I've tried madhi rom and Houstonn PA roms. Unfortnately, I am enjoying the Stock rom LG G2 features at the moment, particularly the knock on, LG Quick Remote and LG Quick window features of stock.
LG-D803
Kernel version 3.4.0
Build JDQ39B
Software Version D803R10c
Same location indoors, different phones:
S4 - gets lock in 30 seconds with 11 of 22 satelites.
G2 - no lock, no satelites.
Looks to me like a hardware problem. The GPS on the G2 plainly sucks.
In my d802 GPS works well. Are you shoure that isn't an hardware problem?

Note 4 GPS Accuracy

I'm not getting great gps accuracy with this phone. Usually between 16-30 feet. My other devices are accurate up to 3 feet. I'm wondering what everyone else is getting with this phone. Using GPS status from the play store.
I just tested. I'm getting 10-12 feet.

gps signal drops
I noticed that when I am using a map program like Waze or google Maps, the gps signal gets lost more often than when I had the Note 3.

That's GPS Test /GPS Test +(paid). Great app.
I've noticed this as well when playing the game ingress. I wonder if it's due to the steel frame? My Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5 was spot on.
Hmm.
Never thought about that.
My GPS does seem to perform better now that I have FireKat ROM on my phone.
Re tested.
Rooted running Firekat ROM and using some tweaks from the lag thread. GPS assist is running in the background.

I too tested it on FireKat and got the same results. 10 ft. Makes me think it can be enhanced by a software update. Maybe in a future patch.

Depends on your location and how many satellites are in sight but ~3 meters/~9 feet is about as good as it's going to get with just GPS. Maybe if phone locks into some Glonass satellites it could do a bit better.

I made a change on the WiFi settings and my GPS signal improved. I put a check on "Always Allow Scanning." Because I remembered that I had taken it off to try another app and that was around the time that GPS stopped working correctly.
go to Settings>Wi-Fi>Advanced>Always Allow Scanning; Put a check on this option.
Google maps says GPS signal lost a lot with the note 4... doesn't seem very good at getting a location.
Definitely love the phone. Came from the s4. My first note. Thought I was the only one that noticed crappy GPS signal

I notice my phone says searching for GPS in the drop down thing. Goes away in a few seconds but is annoying.
10' Lock almost Instantly. Fastest lock of any phone I ever owned. And keeps its lock perfectly.

I checked the scanning off because when driving using the maps WiFi spots pop up and I can't see where I'm going. LoL
To all those who saying they don't have issues with the GPS they probably don't use it enough to see that.
