Gmote (in the market) might be an option.

There's also a lite version of that..
I use Unified Remote as it covers a lot of bases as well as just keyboard and mouse
I use GPad to use my nook as a remote keyboard, works over BT, Wifi, or USB

You could try airdroid, not sure if it will give you all functions that you need though.

What kind of remote control ? Against theft ? For that, the samsung has it's own remote control service. If you have a Samsung account set-up on your Galaxy S3, go to : http://www.samsungdive.com/DiveMain.do
For total remote access, I don't know. But if it's possible, it may create vulnerability on your device (because it will able to receive instructions from other devices).

Airdroid is goof if you just want to use a browser to send text messages etc.
I have mine set up with tasker to fire up automatically when my phone joins the works wifi network. That way I can text all day without ever having to touch my phone
You could also try DroidVNC for more complete control of the device.
Try Moborobo, you can control your phone from Pc as if your phone is on your hands

Remote control Crash
Hi guys!
Got a HK I9300 a few weeks ago! the phone is still stock.
I am currently on mainland China, on a China Mobile sim card, must also add i do get access to Google Play (so no need to change to change roms for now)
Problem though is that i wanted to add some security to the phone, with the "remote control". Registered on Samsung Dive, Google, allowed google locations,... and when i go to remote controls and press "ok", i get " Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
i would like to know if anyone had the same problems or is it remote controls is not supported for mainland china?
Thanks ... really want to keep track of my phone in case it gets stolen

It depends on your Smart TV. If it's a Samsung some have BT for use with an external mouse and keyboard. Those that don't you can connect via USB (or use a wireless keyboard that comes with a USB wireless dongle). You can also use your SGS4's keyboard via the SmartView app from Play. Keyboards only work on Samsung controlled parts of the TV interface. They aren't recognized by a lot of the third party apps accessed via Smart Hub.
When you're setting up WatchOn, here's a tip. Don't go through the device set-up process. Instead, make sure the TV and your Samsung mobile device are on the same network and hit the icon shown below. It allows WatchOn to show content from your TV within the app assuming your Smart TV supports it.
This is all meaningless if your Smart TV isn't made by Samsung.
Thanks my tv is samsung, what im trying to do is... for example, watch youtube, and using the search, use my phone as keyboard instead of using the remote pressing the letters 1 by 1. Not sure if that made any sense... i set up the watchon but it doest have the "keyboard" function i was looking for.
RIght now im doing.. seach it on my phone then sync it to the tv-_-

Whatever you're trying to do on the TV has to be keyboard enabled; most non-Samsung apps don't support outside keyboard access and require you to use the keyboard that's provided within the individual app.
Here are two examples. The Web Browser and Samsung Apps support the Samsung keyboard.
If your phone has Smart View installed and is connected to the TV this pops-up whenever the TV's keyboard pops up.
The YouTube app doesn't support the Samsung keyboard so you have to use whatever's provided in the app.
Thanks for the detail explanation.

WatchON's pretty much useless outside of the TV function if you have a Samsung Smart TV. Smart View allows you to control all the other functions and Smart Hub including allowing you to use your device's keyboard vs. the onscreen keyboard. That's what OP was asking about.
Watchon with Cyanogenmod
is there anyway to get Watchon working and installed on Cyanogenmod? I have the APK, says not installed. help!!!!!
Watchon integrates IR remote with your tv program guide (if your cable tv is supported)
for youtube, I used to use youtube remote... an app by youtube to pair your tv and play the videos.
with recent update, that functionality is built in youtube app on the phone. in the app select "Play on" option and you can add your tv to the list.
No. Won't work on AOSP as is (would require major 'rejigging'/porting to get it to work if at all), requires Samsung framework.

Infrared question...

Hi guys,
can you suggest me a ggod application in order to use my S4 as a generic/configurable infrared command? (TV, Hi Fi....)
Is it possible to receive command from a generic/configurabel infrared command to the S4?
i.e.: if I connect my S4 to the TV and I install XBMC on S4.... is there a chance to command the XBMC running on S4 with an infrared remote?

The IR as far as I am aware the IR port in the S4 is only a blaster not a receiver so it lacks the 'learn' function unless you know the remote code for the device then you can use something like 'Smart Remote' to create a new remote control of your liking. As for XBMC, you can use some remote software like 'Unified Remote' to control you XBMC server via TCPIP
Use galaxy s4 universal remote on play store. I think it's the best app

Android TV controller on Android Wear watch

When playing with my new Nexus Player the remote control popped up on my moto 360.
It only showed up one time...i think it has to do with weather the remote app is running on the phone that the 360 is connected too.
I tried to add the nexus player as a bluetooth device on the 360 but its a no go.
Anyone else play with this yet?
No but I'm extremely intrigued ;o I'll mess with that tomorrow and report back lol.
As long as you have the remote app opened on the phone, while connected to the Android TV and still connected to your watch, it should display on your watch automatically. IIRC, it has to actually be opened and actively connected on the phone, for the watch to pick it up.
It also doesn't work at all. LOL... G Watch R, 5.01 updated. App has no function at all on the watch.

I just tested this and it will work if you have the Google made Android TV Remote app open on your phone when trying to use the Android TV Remote app on Android Wear.

So you need to have the phone on and app open.... to use your watch to control it? Sounds kinda... broken. lol
