Hello,
Although i have rooted the phone, i do not seem to be able to install them..i followed all the available instructions about it, like writing on the terminal and all, but nothing... am i to do anything else please?
Thank you
am not sure whether this will work or not.
look for livewallpaperpicker.apk on google.
install that and then install some livewallpaper.
click on menu and wallpaper, you should get an option to pick live wallpapers.
works on my spica, not sure about galaxy 3.

heres a way to get a couple nice apps for free that samsung thinks the i9000 guys should have but not us (asphalt 5, krazy kart racing), theres also an updated version of task manager, and a few others that i wasnt interested in. if your using your stock build.prop file and open the samsung apps, it will show an updated version of our camera app but i have not updated it yet but i will report back when i do. but to get all the nice apps, you have to temporarily replace your build.prop file with the one ive attatched. also download the samsungapps.apk ive included and put it onto your sd card and install it. download the build.zip ive attached and extract the build.prop file to your desktop.
so now with root explorer, go to /system and long press and copy your build.prop file and paste it to your internal sd to back it up. long press again and rename it to build.prop.bak or whatever you want.
now put the build.prop that you got from me and put it on your sd card. now go back into root explorer, long press on the build.prop that you just put on the sd and copy it. now you want to paste it in /system and click yes to overwrite the one you have. reboot your phone. under settings- about phone there should be some of the version info changed and all that(thats all this does). now if you open the samsung app store that you installed you will see a few apps available for free. install what you want, then just delete your modded build.prop on your sd card(or save it to your pc or whatever in case they add some more stuff so you can do this again) rename your original build.prop.bak to what it is supposed to be(build.prop) and do the same-copy this file, paste it in /system to overwrite the modded one, reboot, and now your back to how you were just with some nice free games or whatever else you downloaded. everytime you switch between these files for downloading things from the samsung app store, go into applications, find the samsungappstore.apk and delete the data and cache so it will reset to your current version.
this is a long post but it takes less than 5 min.lol
you could also do this with adb but if you dont know how to use adb do it this way.
This is cool, I didn't really know what the build.prop file did, little things like this help me put the pieces together. I also notices that swype won't work with your build.prop file. Maybe why it won't work in ported i-9000 and vibrant roms that I've tried.
Also the proper version of asphalt is great. Hardware acceleration makes a difference. The lighting effects are much beyer than the version in the market.

really? i dont know how that file would affect anything like that, but either way that build.prop file is just so you can get the apps. i didnt try anything with it, just replaced it with my original as soon as i was done doing what i wanted with it after i messed with it.
ya and its were like the red headed step child to samsung compared to the i9000, but thats to be expected.

I tried your way, and the Asphalt5 app downloaded and installed, but when run, all it does is play the intro video. Does that app actually work for you. The Krazy Kart Racing App worked for me, but Asphalt5 just won't do it.
I updated camera firmware all seems well still.

You have to go to settings/applications/Samsung apps and autorize new application notification in I9000. When you are notified that the application is ready for you to install, you will be able to click and install. Please note asphalt is a huge file and will eat up a lot of download time. It is strongly recommend you use wi fi for asphalt and not packet notification.
What version is the task manager that is included in this? My phone has version 1.11
Also, any difference in the camera update?

The system was authorized for notification, the app did fully download through WiFi (all 70 MB of it), it did ask me to install, and I installed it successfully without incident (which is what my post already implied). It is shows up in the application list, but when I start it, there is a dialog box that pops up in the background and closes before I can read what it says. After this, all that starts is the intro video, which actually plays through the phone's movie player application. The game itself never launches. Have you actually spoofed your Captivate to be an i9000, downloaded Asphalt 5 through SamsungApps, and then run it successfully. If you have a market bought full version of the game, that doesn't count. I am thinking that this game has some additional security measures that prevent it from being launched.

yup, thats why i said in my original post just to use this for getting the apps, then switch back to your original. with the original, the samsung app store app will not let you download any of the good stuff. so just use this to get what samsung gives the i9000 users for free, and then switch back to your original.

i have beta9, installed this while on beta 9 and its running fine. i think like what someone told the other poster you have to go into the settings on the samsung app and click download on wifi and then install it while your connected to wifi or something like that since its a pretty big file.
You do all this on the phome right? Not copy paste on the computer?

But there is a problem, since I've no WiFi network in my house(for now), how can I install applications. I know the android applications are .apk format, but I don't know from where to download them. I got the file manager HD .apk file but I don't know how to install it. Please help!
Youll have to root your tablet then you can install apks locally. Alternatively you can try easy installer. You will need a internet connection as its required by the Market to install apps.

I don't think you have to root to install apps locally... as long as you have the unknown sources option checked, you can install apps from wherever you want. If you have a desktop with internet that you can get to, you can download the apk's from various torrent sites, and I think there is a web version of the android market? I'm sure there are other places as well, just search on Google. anywhooo, then just transfer the file over to your A500 via the USB cable or flash drive, and open the file through the app manager option that pops up when you tap on it, then click install.
I have had no problem download APKs onto my desktop computer and then putting them on a Micro SD card to use on the A500 without having to root anything.
u can use Docs to go to navigate to .apk on your tablet and launch instal from there. Thats my way)

Congrats on getting your Inconia!
For apps like the filemanager you could just download them from the Android marketplace, then they would install themselves. Otherwise, place them on your sd card if you're downloading to your PC first. Apps will also install if they are in your download folder on the tablet (say for example, if you download from the dev's website or email them to yourself as an attachment).
One thing you might have to do first is check the setting that allows you to install "unsigned" third-party app. I believe it's: Setting->Applications->Unknown Sources.
From what I understand, there's not much concern of installing something harmful anymore (for which this setting was designed to protect against), but I could be wrong. Just be careful who you are getting the app from if it's not from the market, a dev's site or a reputable person here at the forum.
That's my $.02 Have fun!
Just get a home network!
Enjoy your Iconia....I love mine!
Congratulations
- No need to root for installing apk, just check the checkbox (the Iconia will told you what you have to do anyway)
- Get a wifi quick

Hello everyone! I have a Blaupunkt Cape Town 940 US android head unit. So far I love it! But...
I am having issues adding/flashing Google Apps to it. It is rooted, and like the title says it is 4.1.1. I can't seem to get the unit to go into recovery, if there is one built into it. I can flash a map update to it from the right side micro SD slot by hitting 'power' and 'home' at the same time from the off position. When I try to flash the 'gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip' to it by the same method, it just errors out and never gives me the option to flash a zip, reboot or anything you would normally see from a flash recovery.
Some of the .apk's in the above zip can be installed and other cannot. I can get the play store to install, but not the services or framework, or anything else from the zip for that matter - I get a parse error. The play store just says it can't connect to the server and has a retry button. It does have a connection to the internet. I can install other 3rd party apps by navigating to the apk from the stock file manager.
Can anyone elaborate on how to flash GApps to this unit, or how to side-load them with the apk's? There is not much info on the net for this unit. I am close but can't figure it out.
Thanks everyone!

I ran to the same problems couple of days ago of trying to install Gapps into my unbranded chinese headunit and figured it out last night how to get Gapps installed. My recommendation for you is as following (Require root access)
1. Go online and search for google installer.apk and system app mover.apk and install both into your headunit
2. Run google installer and look for google play (it's in chinese but you should be able to figure it out by the icon)
3. Click on google play and it should prompts you to install other 4 related google app as well ie. Google framework etc.
4. Once you have all those installed, run system app mover. (This is where you require root access)
5. Search for those 4 related google app that you just installed and move them to system (You have to be clicking on the app and move them one by one)
6. Reboot and you should have google app installed. (The version is quite old but it'll update by itself with the newest version)
Cheers

Hmm, this seems a little risky. Is there an English version of this process? Any other ideas? Thanks boyito!!
easiest way to install google services to the 940 is to send email to Blaupunkt support. They can send you a apk that will install the services. It is not supported but will load without any other things to do. I used it and have had all google's services including email, maps, store and more with no problem.

Hey guys... I downloaded this apk as well but cannot get it to work. The ReadMe!! says to root the device but when following the instructions I cannot find where it is saying to click "touch 6x OS Version". Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Excuse me for my bad english but i've got the same problem. In fact, when i unzipped the file, i did not see the file text which was joined:
Please note that you install and apply root on your own risk.
Please copy GSINSTALLER.APK to an USB kay and follow this steps:
1: ROOT device: SYSTEM SETTINNGS -> SOFTWARE VERSION -> touch 6x OS VERSION -> new point DEVELOPER OPTIONS will appear -> select ROOT and confirm it.
2: Install PLAYSTORE: Open APPS -> open FILE EXPLORER -> select EXTERNAL USB -> look for GSINSTALLER.APK and install it -> ACCEPT SUPER USER request -> ACCEPT the UNINSTALL request.
I don't realy understand the final step (accept the uninstall request?) but, after a final shut-off, i've got Google Play on my Cape Town 945

Thanks for the reply. I did see the readme but didn't realize that "touch 6x OS VERSION" meant to actually press OS VERSION 6 times. I'm a little slow sometimes. Anyway I just tried it again and it worked perfectly. Works great!

Anyone using other Bluetooth devices rather than phones? I tried to connect OBDII scanner to my unit but it failed to pair, just like that = "Pairing Failed" message. Have a theory that the unit may have a limitation - to connect only the BT devices with phone/sound services. I was going to use lots of other yummies - BT tyre pressure app, BT front camera, but now I'm not sure...
Hi... This unit does not have the Bluetooth SPP (Serial Port Protocol) so it cannot be used with an OBD2 interface to display OBD apps on-screen (Torque, Dashcommand, etc).

Hey everyone,
This is not a super important question, but it still irritates me. I wanted to try out the game Arena of Valor (which hit the German PlayStore recently) and play a round with some friends. But it turns out it apparently can't be installed. (My friends running the default roms on their phones (Huawei etc.) Have no issues at all)
I have an Axon7 running one of the latest Resurrection Remix Builds and I am rooted using Magisk. I have not experienced any other problems with downloading or installing apps from the PlayStore.
But whenever I tap on download, the download of the game starts and (since it is a rather large one) takes a while (I get the normal download bar and everything). Then after a while it says "installing" for another like 5 minutes to then suddenly give me an error message which reads as follows (rough translation from German):
" App can not be downloaded.
'Arena of Valor ..... Game' (full name of the game) can not be downloaded. Please try again. If the issue remains you can get help from the Probelmsolving article. (Code of error: 492) "
So obviously I tried again (for like 15 times now), I also tried rebooting my phone several times and I did search the code of error online and found out that it's supposed to be google-related and clearing the cache of the PlayStore and services could fix this, but it did not for me.
At this point I'm pretty confused, since I can install any other app (I've tried so far) just fine and I am now wondering why this would be. Could it be an issue with root, but then again I'd think it would tell me, as other apps did before. Does any one else have this issue or the app successfully installed on their device? Or does anyone have an idea what could cause my problem and fix this? Thanks for any help in advance!
Cheers

Just tried to download it. It worked fine, installed, started up OK. I'm on stock 7.1.1. B05 (A2017G). I'd suggest You to find the game's .apk somewhere (there are some sites hosting android apps) and try to download/install from there.

Hey thanks for your feedback! I already did that as well... should have added it above :/ I downloaded from apkmirror and another site and got it to start nad was asked to give permissions, but after that everytime a pop-up showed up telling me to download again from google play, since there was some kind of error. So that didn`t do the trick either for me.

Well, I'd say I thought so it'd do that, but it did worth a shot. I'm sorry it didn't help.
Edit: Just got something on my mind. On ine of the stock updates (can't remember which one) download from the Play Store was really, I mean REALLY slow through Wi-Fi. But I realized that if I simply start the download then put the phone in 'sleep' mode by pressing the power button, the download speed is just turns back to normal. It was pretty obvious during big downloads. It was really slow (shown 30 minutes or so for finish), then I just pressed power, checked on it in a couple of minutes and download was done. I don't know why it did this, but it worked every time, maybe you should try that. Other than that, go back to stock. jk.

I already did that as well... should have added it above :/ I downloaded from apkmirror and another site and got it to start nad was asked to give permissions, but after that everytime a pop-up showed up telling me to download again from google play, since there was some kind of error. So that didn't do the trick either for me.

I guess that app has obb too, so you should install an FTP server on your phone and an FTP client on one of your friends' phones, then go to /sdcard/Android/obb/ and copy the folder of the game to the same place on your phone

Lol no, what Play store does is just download the apk from a database and install it on your phone, then download whatever extra files the app needs. If you bought the app it will also provide authentication in case that it needs to get it.
So basically you can do the same process manually (as long as it's free) by downloading the apk and the obb, then moving the obb folder (named com.devname.appname) to /sdcard/Android/obb/.
Otherwise you can try wiping Play store's cache and try to download it, and if that still doesn't do anything delete its data.
Just checking, is your Axon 7 a Chinese version- the A2017?
I have had trouble downloading large data files for games on this from playstore too... It might have something to do with the fact that google had to be installed from other places and google has a security issue with our devices...
After a few updates, currently on B08, it works. Can download apps that failed prior to this update...

No I have the G-Model. So I don't think that should be the issue. But still thanks for the thought!

Ok thanks a lot! Will try to do that, once I come home today and report back if it worked
Just to learn something again, what exactly is OBB? And if I download the apk I don't have the obb with it automatically?
And I`m having trouble copying/moving the folder into obb (apparantly this is not supposed to be done)
Is there a way to do it?

Just move it lol
Where did you get the obb folder from? Try root browser, even if you don't have root.
The obb is just additional files that the app uses. I guess they need to do that because you's have to download the whole thing if they just updated the app like they usually do. So for a 3 GB game you might only need to download ~100 mb instead of the whole 3 GB when you update it

OBB files are basically the data files., just in a different format. The Obb files will come in a separate folder if the whole thing isn't RAR'ed or Zipped up...
You should have games apk file and a separate folder with OBB files inside.

Well I am rooted (Magisk) but ES Explorer is unable to enable the root functions for some reason even though it has Superuser rights in Magisk... And solid explorer as any other I've tried so far won't move files to the obb folder.
And I got the file from the phone of a friend as suggested

Again, try Root browser (the old one won't be able to move stuff to the SD card, but it's even better than the new one). Much better than those two... ES explorer is the worst bloated piece of crap there is.

I agree with you on ES , and tried out the new root browser which leaves a really good first impression! Didn't know of this app so far, so thanks for pointing it out!
But I still can't do it... I'll attach a short screen capture of what is happening for me
https://www.dropbox.com/s/esg4mcxmg04vebw/VID-20170819-WA0003.mp4?dl=0
(Since the upload on XDA didn't work for me)

Yeah , it seems storage permission was disabled for Play Store and I enabled it and now it works.
