Hey guys, i'm going to be purchasing an xperia play (my first android/smart phone whoo!) soon and I've done my fair share of research over this phone and i've gone to the verion store to check it out, and i like it a lot, but there's just one thing that bothers me. What happened to the app drawer? I know it's stock gingerbread therefore it should have the same app drawer that the Nexus S has, but it doesn't seem the same, the reason I say this is because when you scroll up and down through the apps, it doesn't give you that "cube" like effect, what happened?

does that really matter? there is a million launchers on the market that can emulate that cube effect in the app draw, and imo have much better effects too, just download one

Download the Gingerbread launcher, push it to /system/app and delete the default launcher. Problem solved This isnt ios You know
I don't have the Verizon edition so could be COMPLETELY wrong but perhaps it's enable-able in a settings?
Even if not the other comments are right - think of it this way. It's not that it doesn't have the cube effect, it's that you need to install it via the market - Launcher Pro or Gingerbread Launcher should both have it (ADW too maybe?)
If you get that phone you can definitely get the effect your looking for

Sounds more like it would be a property in the Launcher2.apk file. You can extract it and search if you want.

welcome to xda!
if you go into settings>applications>manage applications> choose touchwiz launcher and tap reset defaults then press home key you will be asked to choose launcher and you can checkmark save as default to make reg laucher gb of course your main launcher.
then theres always development forum here that you'll find a ton of replacements for everything tw you dont like!

and is there a update ei22?
You can update your modem from EC05 to official EI22 and then use CM7. And also to OP can you maybe not make a subject like you just bricked your phone or it caught fire? Seems a little extreme for just not liking Touchwiz. Thanks.

Sorry that I post here, I dont have enough posts yet to post in developer threads.
Is it possible to port TW5 to the Nexus4 ?
I dont like the ICS (TW4) one. 5 Looks better with the colors.
Would be nice if someone could do it.

Because its a great phone and I like it even if it doesn´t have TW
Then I´ll just wait if someone makes a TW5 port or S3 Theme.
I didn´t want to flash a Custom ROM thats why I asked, I am sure I´ll be able to use TW with CyanogenMOD ?
Anyway, thanks for your answers
//EDIT I informed myself a bit, I didnt know TW is a formware, I just wanted the launcher/theme
reason i bought nexus is to rid of touchwhiz.. who wants that kiddish firmwarE?

you can try to find a touchwiz theme for a third party launcher like "go launcher" in the play store
Is this a TROLL THREAD?
Thread moved to Q&A as is a question and even if you did have enough posts you should never post question threads in development. Please don't disrespect other members and be abusive as this is uncalled for. Some people are just not as knowledgeable as others and we were all new once so if you don't have anything useful to say, please say nothing at all.
Thanks

Yes its been confirmed it is.
I already saw there is a request for sense. No motoblur love yet?
A touchwiz rom for a LG phone?
But no seriously, touchwiz as well as HTC sense, lg ui, motoblur are all closed source and very difficult to port. On Galaxy Nexus, there was a skin pack of Touchwiz on top of stock Android.
For people bashing op, android is all about options. If a developer wants to devote his time into porting it then so be it. Nothing is stopping him. If android was one way if thinking then we wouldn't be any different than the you know community.
Realistically, getting a stable touchwiz rom isn't worth it and it won't happen most likely. If you like touchwiz then get a galaxy s3 or a note 2

The launcher and some of the framework was ported to the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 by a developer called madphone, he even made a ROM that was fully themed.
He's also ported LG launcher and framework to the Galaxy Nexus.
Evilisto has ported the LG lock screen to the Galaxy Nexus too.
Yes OP it's possible and you're not wrong for asking, it's your phone so run what you like on it and never mind everyone else.
Best bet to see TW5 on the Nexus 4 is to contact madphone and see if he's interested in porting it, maybe he can tell you if the mods he's got out will work right off the bat on the Nexus 4.
Do a search for him and you'll find his threads. Or Google TW5 for Galaxy Nexus, a few months back a few big Android sites wrote an article about his work.

All I want is that I can organize my homescreen by pinching it with two fingers and removing that circle in the middle to open the menu, I´d also like to have folders in my menu.
Thats all. I dont want to use third party apps, I had goLauncher on my GalaxyS+ but I had problems so I want it to be fully implemented into my OS/ROM.
Maybe I´ve missunderstood what touchwiz is,
but I am used to this layout and I like it.
thats what I wanted: i.imgur.com / aXZxT.png

Touchwiz is the framework for all Samsung devices. It is the skin that they used. Some prime elements of Touchwiz is the notification bar, icon skins being in squares, home screen of square icons, memo, smart stay, etc.

It's what stock Android looks like. It's called Holo. I actually like it a lot and prefer it over TouchWiz launcher.
you can google for 'touchwiz launcher galaxy nexus port' and try installing the APK and see if it works (dont flash any zips though, at least i wouldnt try it)

Nobody EVER ported an ios rom to samsung or any android device !! That roms were customized to look like the ios (they put ios launcher, ios keyboard and the other apps that you can find on the play store)
What stopped them? Well since that its easy to make ur android phone look like any other phone by customization.

Well if they did it back then, it looks like they stopped, or never started it for the S5, so you'll just have to customise it yourself

NOKIA 6
So, now that Nokia is officially returned to the market with Nokia 6.
What are your expectations on the software front?
Looking at the pictures feels like some custom UI is there
The phone to me looks great,
UI is the question whether it'll run something specific for china only models and different for rest of the world or same
How close it'll be to stock android with useful features.
Personally, I like the OnePlus take on stock android
Share your thoughts, wishlist, hopes, etc
If you have any video or photos do post on here
P.S :- The phone is exclusive to China only for now at least
First Ever reply on Nokia thread on XDA.lol.
The ui is good no prob with me.

I've seen a few videos and in one of them saw the quick settings and notification bar..
One swipe
4 quick toggles (bigger in size than pixel and have name below the toggles)
guessing maybe they can be swipe from right to left for more
Second swipe
Reveals all the toggles
4 icons per row (colour scheme same as stock Android)

Agree but why would a company that's making comeback would do so without any meaningful purpose being served.
